Wooden picnic table repair.?

fujiwest1

I'm looking for vinyl covers for the slats of our wooden picnic table. The wood table and benches are sagging and splitting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
What I would do is replace the wood and then apply maritime epoxy or boat makers epoxy to the wood to seal it. I'm not sure what you call it exactly as I have heard it called several different things.

The bottom line is that you take two seperate portions and mix them together and apply it with a brush. Once it hardens it forms a clear plastic like layer and will keep all of the moisture and water out. This stuff is used to seal wooden boats so the wood doesn't wear out from being in the water. It is fairly expensive, around $40 a gallon so plan your job accordingly. If you've ever been to a restaurant or bar that has wooden tables with pictures and coins and crap sealed under "plastic like" stuff on the table top, this is what that is. I would recommend using this same stuff on anything wooden that you plan to keep outside year round. Call a few of your local boat dealers/repair places and I'm sure they will be able to lead you where to go for it. I'll paste a link to a PDF that helps explain what I'm talking about.

does anyone have plans for an 8 ft picnic table?

I am looking to build my own table with separate benches and can not find plans. Can anyone help me?
I guess that I should specify, I am looking for an 8 ft table with 2 detached benches. I would like to be able to move and use the benches away from the 8 foot table.

Answer
=== use the search web box to find plans and videos keyed to your building a picnic table like these words ++ plans to build a picnic table ++ how to build an eight foot picnic table with benches ++++ it works and there is more info there than I can relay to you .....
