Camping help!?

blue92

Okay, so this is my first time going camping with my family. I've gone with friends who had RV's, but this time we are just staying in a cabim. The cabin has no kitchen stuff (fridge, microwave, sink, etc) or bathroom, but the campsite does. It is in Michigan. It would be in August or October. What is a list of things to bring along? The longer list, the better. All help is appreciated.

I need tips for camping!!!?

Rhonda

I am going with my boyfriend and one of his guy friends to this orientation with our university and they do not provide housing for overnight, so we have decided to camp out on the beach (cause the university is right on the beach) I found a state park nearby that I know is really nice, but what do i need to go before camping? What kind of meals are easy to keep? We are wanting to barbeque, so are there any rules saying we cannot? I have my tent but I have only put it up once in my backyard. I have almost no idea what I am doing, and I need ideas!!! Thank you!
It is ok to camp at this location on the beach. I called the state park and they verrified it. Its called mustang island

Answer
Bring a square plastic tub like some people put in their sink. Has many uses, including washing dishes, sponge baths in the tent, a place to keep misc items, bedside table, a container for gathering things in the 'wild'. Or a 3 gallon plastic bucket.

Phone the university and find out if you are allowed to camp on their property. That way you don't have to deal with campground rules, or it may already be booked up.

It would be a good idea to string a tarp over the tent area, to provide shade and rain cover over your work area outside the tent(s). Bring a towel or something to provide a door mat outside the tent door to keep dirt/sand out. Some tool to pound in tent stakes with. If you are to have a fire, bring some sort of grill to put over it, on rocks or whatever. Bring firewood. Water containers. Fuel for your campstove. Something to light fires with. Flashlights. Pad for under sleeping bags. Zip-lok and trash bags.

You can make a dandy stew out of rice& beans (soak the beans first) and some canned goods. Spices.

Potatoes, cooking oil, aluminum foil.
