I am turning 19 next weekend. I live in Milwaukee, WI and it is the middle of December, so things like a beach party are unrealistic. Also, I'm not looking to spend a fortune.
Does anyone have some fun suggestions for me to do on my birthday with a group of my girlfriends?
Desperate for ideas!

Answer
Hi,

You don't want to spend money but you want to have a good party....that is exciting as well as challenging. Check out these ideas and pick some to make your day special.

1. Invite your friends to your home for lunch or dinner and decorate the house for a happy feel :)

Its your birthday! So, pep things up. It will be cold outside on your birthday. You and your friends may not want to go out on a cold day. You can still make your party exciting with great food. Invite your friends to lunch or dinner. Try and cook something for them. Remember, good can help you win anyone's heart. Arrange a good meal for your friends and beautify your home. Don't forget to decorate your table with some artificial flowers and a vinyl tablecloth. You can wash these tablecloths later to get rid of the coffee and other stains. Check out some cute and artificial flowers on amazon.com and some cheap tablecloths on http://home-and-garden.become.com/vinyl-tablecloth. Afterwards, you can have a classic slumber party.

2. Arrange some games for your friends in the house

You can play different games to make your day memorable. Play Spin the Bottle. The person whom your bottle points has to tell a truth or do a daring task. This is Truth or Dare game as we all know. You can also play Dumb Sheraz. In this game one person tries to tell his team the name of a movie or an actor without speaking. You can also play Musical Chairs game with your friends.

3. Don't forget to give return gifts

You can make some small handmade gift bags. Use decorative tape, wavy scissors, glitter and some other cheap decorative items to make these cute bags. You can put Gum, lollipops, snack-size candy bars, chocolate-covered raisins, colored pens, fun pencils, small notebooks, erasers etc. in these bags.

Is it expensive to do a mosaic in your home?

I don't have lots of money, I might be able to buy a house soon and I am a very creative and artsy person. I have always wanted to make my house a work of art, you can't do that when you rent. Anyways, does it cost a lot to do mosaic's? I want to do one for my kitchen backsplash and one for my bathroom. What would a good practice project be, I would like to try it out on something that isn't permanent first like a table or something.

Answer
Have a go at mosaic borders around a mirror (glued on to a piece of ply board) they are small project areas so not too frustrating; and working with smaller pieces fragments of tile, mirror, shell or stone are easier to create and theme with. Broken tile fragments from building sites are free (with permission of course) bits of broken coloured glass look fantastic especially the blues and greens and reds and especially if they have ribs or textures. Coloured marbles (the type kids play with) cut in half add depth and dimension - very inexpensive just to name a few ideas... your only limited by your imagination. I have done mirrors, lamp shades, and a kitchen back splash in ocean themes (live near a beach) they look fantastic. A great Idea.
