I am having my wedding May 8th,2010...its an outdoor wedding and reception. The wedding is going to be at 3pm. So what would be good times for the reception...430-when???? and what types of food would be good for this?
Answer
Many invitations to outdoor weddings say, "Reception immediately following the ceremony". If it's to be an outdoor reception as well, buffet service with especially nice picnic-type food would be appropriate. Have tables and chairs, or picnic tables, for people to sit at. Of course there should be wedding cake and punch or champagne, to celebrate with after the picnic.
At the last outdoor wedding and reception we attended, the ground was very soft. The heels of my shoes started to get stuck in the ground, so I went back to the car and changed into flat shoes, which fortunately I had brought along. The back legs of everybody's folding chairs sank deep into the grass -- it was impossible to sit safely or comfortably. You may need to think about laying plywood sheets, or using benches with large squares under the legs.
Of course you should make firm plans for moving indoors in case of sudden rainstorms. Some folks rely on covered tents, but if there's a lot of wind, it's a recipe for disaster.

Outdoor seating ideas for coffee house?

Jon W
People keep stealing our furniture outside. What is the best way of making something that people can't steal? We don't have a lot of money.
I was thinking of making a cement table. Bags of cement are like $7. Make staked frames out of wood and perhaps chain the chairs down. Will this work? Any better ideas? Where's some nice looking moderately priced outdoor furniture? I looked at Targets stuff and it's total CRAP plastic junk for like HUNDREDS of dollars!
Thanks for the help.
Answer
You can buy concrete round tables and benches. I see them at outdoor places all the time. Find a local concrete dealer who makes those and birdbaths, etc. They may be available at Home Depot, etc. Or look in the yellow pages.
