Invitation Ideas:

Your invitation should exemplify the theme of your party. Many mass merchandisers such as Target or Walmart are carrying Luau party-themed invitations.

The Luau theme on the front of your invitation can include pineapples, leis, ocean scenes, palm trees, or other warm weather, ocean-friendly items. The more creative and colorful your invitations, the more excited your guests will be to RSVP as soon as possible!

Decoration Ideas:

Luau parties are very fun to decorate because the whole thought is a combination of relaxation and fun. Some great examples of how to decorate for your Luau party include:

From Spring to Fall, a Luau party can be held outside, which is ideal. Use of tiki torches, beach chairs, and palm plants are fun items to use to decorate outside. Target Stores also carry a variety of "hanging lights" you can use to drape around your deck or patio area to heighten the festive feel of your luau. You can even use fake palm trees for the ultimate Luau experience.

For your tables, use fresh pineapple purchased at any grocery store with a good product department. Decorating with pineapple, papaya, coconuts, and other "natural" centerpieces, along with flowers and votive candles will immediately put your guests in the mood to hula! If your party is inside, many party stores also carry plates, bowls, and even fun things such as little pineapple, mango, and melon plastic ice cubes to use in your glass ware as well as additional service ware.

Leis, Hawaiian shirts, and bright, colorful sunglasses are a fun way to start off your party. Hanging oriental lamps at your front door and giving your guests the Leis and the Hawaiian shirts as they walk in will take them right into the luau mood. Make sure you have purchased a Hawaiian CD or have someone who can play the ukulele playing in the background!
Activity Ideas:

The highlight of the party can be the activities enjoyed by your guests. Some great activities for your Luau could include:

Hire professional hula dancers to perform. This is always fascinating for your guests and provides a new twist to entertainment for them.

Luauâs are a great place to have a good old fashioned game of limbo! This game will "limber up" your guests and get them ready for a night of fun and excitement!

Hire a good band or DJ to play music that your guests can enjoy and dance to, if they wish. Everyone loves music, and if your band or DJ can play "island" music, that will add to the overall theme of your party, and guarantee a great time for your guests!
Food Ideas:

Island food is fun to make and fun to eat! Here are some great food ideas for your Luau that your guests will absolutely love!

Grilled Pineapple Chicken

4 chicken breasts, marinated in lime, pineapple, mandarin oranges (or orange juice), and ½ cup salsa.
1 cup real lime juice (from limes)
2 cups chopped, fresh pineapple
1 cup mandarin oranges (or 1 cup orange juice)
1/2 cup salsa
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp pepper
Marinate chicken breasts in mixture for 5 hours. Once fully marinated, grill outside on a gas or charcoal grill until cooked through. For extra fun, make extra "sauce" to spoon over top of the cooked chicken. Serve with fresh spinach salad and warm Hawaiian bread.
Kabobs

Steak, Jumbo-sized Shrimp, and/or Chicken, cut into chunks (with Shrimp, cut off tails, but donât cut further)Large, uncooked mushrooms.
Green, red, and yellow peppers, cut into large chunks
Smoky Mesquite rub (as found at Samâs Club)
Chunky, fresh pineapple
Chopped onions, chopped into big chunks.
Skewers
1 cup minced or chopped garlic

Using skewers, spear meat, veggies, and fruit as desired. Rub skewers in Mesquite and garlic until mostly covered. Grill until cooked through. Serve with a side of Fat Free Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing for dipping, if desired.

Fresh fruit pizza

2 cups fresh pineapple
1 can mandarin oranges
1 package red or black raspberries, fresh
1 package strawberries, fresh
3 fresh peaches
1 bunch red or green grapes
1 block fat free or light Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1 cup Breakstone Fat Free Sour Cream
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
1 package strawberry or peach pie filling, as desired
1 roll Pillsbury sugar cookie dough

Using a tiny bit of flour, begin to knead the cookie dough until you make it into a ball. Add a little more flour, and roll out flat onto a cookie sheet or into a 13x9 pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the top is golden.

Meanwhile, mix softened cream cheese, sour cream, and powdered sugar until well blended and smooth. Once cookie is cool (for quicker results, stick in freezer for about 5 minutes), spread cream cheese mix over the cookie until covered.

Next, spread pie filling over the cream cheese mix. Add fruit as desired until the "pizza" is full. If you want to decorate it more elaborately, be creative in your fruit placement!

Implementing a few of these ideas from everything from invitations to food (or using these ideas to inspire new ones!) can help anyone create a fun, memorable Luau for you and your friends!

Aloha!

Answer
â»Garden Themed Wedding
You have two options here. Either you choose a public or a private garden to host your wedding reception or decorate any venue on a garden theme. Whichever you choose, add nature elements to your invitations and decor. Use potted plants, topiaries, arches, benches and fountains. Make little pathways leading to different areas of the reception. Wrought iron chairs, tables, gates, lamp posts, birdbaths and picket fences etc. will complete the picture. Summer Wedding Flowers will complement the decor. Include dishes made of fresh seasonal produce in the menu and choose a garden themed wedding cake like a tiered cake with the base of a fountain or cakes decorated with fresh flowers or berries. Potted plants or other natural products can be given as favors.
â»Beach Themed Wedding
Choose a public or a private beach for the wedding venue and get necessary permissions for using it for your wedding. Let your theme reflect on your invitations and stationery by adding sea elements and decorations on them. Decorations aren't going to cost a fortune as the beach itself will provide the setting. You can add special touches by using seashells in the table settings and centerpieces etc. Choose a beach-themed wedding cake to add to the theme. Add seafood to the menu and include some sea products as wedding favors.
â»Mid-Summer Wedding Theme
For this theme combining nature and old-world charm, choose an outdoor venue and have the ceremony under a flower-covered altar. Choose mid-summer motifs such as butterflies, vines or even fairies for your stationery. Use the brightest summer blooms for flowers for decorations and bouquets. Brides can use fresh flowers in their hair instead of other accessories. A summer-themed cake using fresh flowers or fruits, a light menu with lots of fresh fruits and cool drinks or ice-cream will complement the theme perfectly.
â»Victorian Wedding Theme
An old mansion or inn or even a garden is the perfect location for a Victorian themed wedding. Go in for formal invitations with engravings, scrolls or even sonnets added to it. Think antique and classic for the decor - delicate teacups, magnificent chandeliers etc. Old-fashioned roses for the bride's bouquet and other floral decorations will add to the whole effect. Classic attires, elegant white tiered wedding cake, Victorian music and favors wrapped in tulle or antique lace handkerchiefs will lend perfection to the theme.

Best wishes. <*-*>
