Will Sur dining table work with my other furniture?

I am thinking of getting the Big Sur table and benches from Crate and Barrel. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=891&f=14069&q=sur&fromLocation=Search&DIMID=400001&SearchPage=1

But my other furniture are sort of Ballard Design style. Samples :

Is there any way to make this work?

I'm not liking the white oak table with all the black pieces you have noted. I would choose a warmer wood color and then it would blend. The style of the table would work, just not the light color. Then the dark leather chairs would pull it together nicely with the rest of the look. Good choices though.

Do you think I can pull off a party in my small apartment? Tips and advice?

We don't have a dining table (or room for one), so I'm thinking of an appetizer buffet with finger foods to have sitting or standing.
This is for family, so they'll be all ages. Do you think it will be fine having them just sit on our couch, a bench, etc?
