What are people so annoying with their dogs?

bigTbags

Why do they insist on walking them without a leash??
Or bringing them into a store?
Or tying them next to their outdoor table at a restaurant?

It's not cute. It just points out that you are an insecure, pathetic attention whore.
WOW! No wonder everyone is so concerned with US education. Everyone who has responded so far is a moron...no comprehension skills.

I did NOT say dogs are annoying - I LOVE dogs. I have always had 6-8 of them...all rescues. However, I am never annoying and tacky with them as described above.
Oh wait, Tawat_C did understand my issue. Thank you for being the one who finished high school out of this group.
PsychGrad: You are dumb. As much as I love dogs, they are not children. Second, you like the others, do not understadn the issue I am presenting - I like dogs but it is actually highly inconsiderate to walk them without a leash or take them into a store.

Dogs are driven by instincts becasue they are not human - HELLO! And they could decide to run after or bite someone with no apparent reason to you. Also if I am eating or shopping I don't want your dogs fur or fleas jumping around me. Gross. And I don't care how clean, you think your dog is - he is NOT to someone else. Face it , you want attention.

Answer
They are not considerate.

Does anybody know a restaurant in Chicago where smoking cigars is allowed?

Alex

I would like to go with some friends to have a nice dinner, drink premium wine and smoke fine cigars, however, last January smoking in restaurants was banned in Chicago... I was wondering if anybody knew of a "cigar smokers friendly" restaurant or, at least, of a restaurant with outdoor tables (maybe by the lake or in some nice place) where we could still smoke our cigars...

Answer
None.. It's the law... no smoking in public places 15 ft away from the building man!!!!!

livingroom-couch, a chair or two, tv stand, end tables, coffee table, lamps and book shelves, tv
Bedroom-bed,book shelves, night stand, dresser, vanity, warbrobe, sheets, pillows, lamp, radio, alarm clock, full length mirror,
Kitchen- table and chair set, fridge, dish washer, plates, flat wear, glasses, dish towels, cooking wear
bathroom-towel, a stand alone cubboard for things like towels and stuff or just by a booksehelf its cheaper
(If)den-alot of fluffy chairs, a couch, and ookshelves instead of puttig them in the livingroom
General-curtains, washer and dryer, rugs, plants (I would go for fake ones that you don't have to take carre of) personal items like pictures, and stuff make it look like your own
cleaning supplies- like broom, dust pan, soap for dishes and cloths, light bulbs,
I personally don't like my stuff to match, like in my living room for example I have an ugly brown plad recliner, a van bench seat, and bean bags with old fashion sewing tables as end tables, a vanity seat for a cofee table, and a unicorn lamp.

Is it selfish when someone has food on their plate, but they take more food?

Nam

My friend tends to do this A LOT! We eat with each other, and he grabs a load of food to put on his plate. For example, there are several more shrimp left; I have nothing on my plate, while he has a lot on his, and he takes the last of the shrimp. Is this selfish?

Answer
A way to solve this problem is to put each person's food onto their plates and do not have a shared bowl from which to take the food. If there's any left over, don't mention it, simply leave it on the kitchen bench and when he has finished eating, and you're full as well, tell him that if he's still hungry he may have what's still left on the kitchen bench. Don't always have some left over, or he'll just stand up and race you to where he knows there's food. Sometimes have extra, at other times don't have any extra. He'll slowly learn to ask, and will probably learn to follow the good example you've set down for him by asking if you have finished and if you'd like more food. Sometimes, it's better to put ideas into practise than to try and verbally instruct others. The chances of his having seen and heard of table etiquette are high, he just needs to stop and think about what he's doing.

Original sticker price, 2003 VW Eurovan full camper?

barry

I know the non-tricked out Eurovan sold for about 31K, curious what the full camper version sold for in 2003 (last year it was sold)

Answer
{ ... VW's second fix was to hack $5100 off the sticker. The entry-level GLS now sells for $26,815, and the ritzier MV-the model that includes a table, removable middle seats, curtains, and a folding rear bed-is priced at $28,315. For both, standard caboodle is generous: a six-speaker stereo, cruise, power locks, fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, ABS, traction control, and VW's electronic stability control. Other than a sunroof, the only option worth contemplating is the Weekender package atop the MV, as depicted here. We say "atop" because the $3235 surcharge earns you Westfalia's familiar pop-up roof-in case you fancy four-person camping inside a minivan, a concept conducive to homicide. Also included in the Weekender package are a refrigerator, bug screens for the side windows and the entire rear hatch, a fluorescent light above the table, and a second battery to power late evenings at the campsite. ... }

is it feasible to live in a camper van all the time? what about being a bit clever about it? could it work?

groovyweir

Basically folks im having some ideas recently and i thought id put this stuff up here where the whole world can join in on this subject. Its all about living in a camper van and firstly let me say i dont mean a VW camper, too small, too unreliable i cant see it happening.

What im talking about here is a nice minibus conversion, like say an Iveco or an LDV minibus or something like that (anyone from abroad they are UK vehicles you'll find them on Ebay to see what i mean.)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=ldv+minibus&_sacat=9800&_odkw=iveco+minibus&_sop=1&_osacat=9800

These have space in them which i think cant be underestimated - i think you'd go mad cooped up all the time.

I wouldn't be filling all the available space with various cupboards and cabinets like i see everyone else doing, leaving a narrow passage in the centre to move about. id prefer carpeted floor, lots of cusions or bean bags, a folding camping table, something like this to cook with :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Azura-3400w-Electric-Induction-Twin-Portable-Cooker-/110965627047?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Ovens_Hobs_Cookers&hash=item19d61118a7

not a whole bloody oven and a whole unit to fill up the van with it, ive used these things in studios etc. before and they are more than fine. I dont see the point in creating a kitchen in the back of the camper, kind of goes against the idea of it i think.

Anyway il continue- so we have a single quite large storage chest with all the stuff inside it, lockable. blacked windows, curtains, nice warm thick carpets, insulation- maybe carpet the walls eh? theres no rules on this stuff- whatever works i think.

So, id have my camper, i can cook in there, sleep in there on a mattress or blow up bed or whatever. Have a camping battery so i can watch movies on my laptop at nights - imagine if you will, living in a small studio. what do you do in the evening? what would be so awfully different? you cook dinner, you sit down with a bottle of wine and a movie. then after you go to bed. Have a small fan heater to give you comfort. Same in the camper.

Now, heres where my clever idea could take this to the next level.
There are problems, security being one of course. Also where to park safely and comfortably at night. people and places get funny about that. What about power for charging your batteries?

well I was sitting and thinking about it and then it hit me - Why not rent a garage!? or a lock up or whatever? my god think of it- it could be ideal? you park in there, every night, rent one that has lights and electricity so you can charge up stuff, it would be warmer. you could sleep safe knowing that padlock cant be broken.
You can use it as storage too! Now the thing about these garages and stuff is that they rent for say 10 per week to what.......50? maximum? not even that!
So if you did all this right, you could pay 100 TOP a month for that privilege and cut out alot of the downsides of the whole idea. Imagine the insurance company when they hear its in a secure padlocked garage constantly? another saving!
Whats left? toilets and showering.
Well, imagine all the money you would save, imagine not paying the rent you are now and instead just a fraction. Id go swimming or working out at a leisure centre and shower there. Get healthy too! Toilet? well come on, adapt right? im sure you could arrange something, possibly utilizing the old water bottle rinsing technique used by our arabic pals hell i wouldnt mind. Or get real regular and go at work/at the gym.

I know this is all a bit odd but just consider it, could it work? i swear it could. Within months you could save up so much money, over a 1000 easy. Sure youd have to get used to it but as i said you would still be living your life. going to work, cleaning yourself, eating, relaxing. What would be so different?

If the garage owner spotted the electricity use a bit high then say your working on your van and stuff and hammer out some little deal.

So, what do you think folks of the world? do any of you do this currently? what about the garage idea? i cant be the only one who thought that. Any of you spend alot of time in campers now? tell me about it please.

I await your feedback and you yea, you can take the piss out of me or call me a dirty hobo whatever but this is a genuine post and question.

I am planning a fairytale/fantasy themed dance and need decorating ideas, any ideas?

cellist723

I am planning it for a camp where kids go who have or have had cancer and one of the nights there is a dance, and the theme is fairytale/fantasy. The dance will be outside, and the kids age range is 6-12 years old. Any ideas would be very helpful!

Answer
Thousands of tiny white (Christmas) lights everywhere. Fairies made of poster board, floating in trees spot-lighted with uplights: the bodies can be painted soft colors, the wings even lighter colors, cover them heavily with matching-color glitter. Yards and yards of netting, gauze, other very sheer fabrics hanging down, backlit with tiny lights. White, slightly-twisted crepe paper swags between buildings, trees, any tall upright item (lamp-post, basketball hoop), along any fences, and add tiny lights if possible. Use glass blocks (like those for shower windows) as table centerpieces: decorate with white Christmas balls, wired ribbons, figures, fairy wings, and insert battery-operated loops of Christmas lights inside the glass blocks. I Googled "fairy party theme" and a lot of sites came up. They're almost uniformly geared toward younger children, but this one has lots of ideas that could work with older children: http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/html/fairy.html It has ideas from moms who created fairy parties, including dragonflies, butterflies, costumes for the kids, and ideas that will appeal to boys: "Magical Forest Party" is good. "Enchanted Forest 8yr" has a wonderful idea for a story that keeps kids moving from place to place to "hear"/carry out the story, which should enchant even your 12 year olds. I didn't click on all of them, or on all of the sites (many of which are trying to sell party supplies but could still give you ideas), but there's a lot of ideas to be found. Hope everyone has a blast!

What are good pranks to pull at camp?

Luke S

ok so heres the deal...In two weeks, my school is going to a camp by some river. We stay in cabins with about 12 people in each and there are about 10 cabins for boys and 10 cabins for girls. Girls camp is about 2 miles down the river so we dont really want to go all the way over there. Heres my question, what are some good pranks we can pull to the other guys, my own group, and counselors that i wont get in trouble for.

Answer
Pin Holes in Cup
Use a tiny pin to make little pin holes in a plastic or styrofoam cup. Then offer the cup with a drink in it to your unaware victim. They will have dribbles of the liquid all over their shirt while drinking the beverage.

Clumsy Coffee Prank
Fill a coffee cup with some brown paint that looks like coffee. Tip it over onto wax paper until it dries up, then remove wax paper. You are now free to place this item anywhere. People will be fooled and think that someone tipped over a cup of coffee.

Wrapper And Cheese Sandwich
Next time you want to play a food prank on someone, make them a sandwich with cheese. But don't remove the plastic wrap from the cheese. When your victim takes a bite, they will get a plastic surprise!

Caramel Candy Onions
Make some tasty caramel candy apples for someone. But substitute the apples with onions.

Sour Times
Before going to bed at night, place a few drops of green food coloring in the milk. In the morning when your victim opens the carton to pour milk into breakfast cereal, he or she will think the milk is sour and no good.

Palms Down Beverage Trick
Impress your friend and show him how you can balance 2 cups of liquid on your hands (palms down). Then bet him that he cannot do it. When he tries to do it, offer to help him...once he gets it and balances the cups, walk out of the room and leave him to figure out how to remove cups from back of hands.

Cereal Box Switch
Remove the plastic bags from cereal boxes and switch them around. Your victim will scratch his head wondering why Cheerios came out of a box of Lucky Charms.

Yummy!
While eating at a restaurant or having dinner with friends pretend you see a fly. Take out a fly swatter and act like you are chasing it around. After awhile, take out a raisin when no one is paying attention. Then show them it quickly as if it is the fly...and eat it!

Take The Bait
Add a rubber fishing worm into your victim's meal and watch their surprise when they bite into the tasty morsel

Unable To Cut The Cake
Decorate a round car washing sponge with icing, whip cream and sprinkles so it looks like a cake. Leave it out so your victim can help himself to a slice. Then just sit back and enjoy watching him struggle while trying to cut the cake

Lottery Ticket Swap
This one takes some pre-planning. All you have to do is buy someone a lotto ticket today and tomorrow go out early and buy another ticket with the exact same numbers as the winning ticket from yesterday. When the victim of your prank isn't paying attention swap the newer ticket with the old one. When the person looks in the paper for the winning numbers, he or she won't even realize the date is wrong on the ticket and will believe it is the big winner.

Raining Confetti
Pick a rainy day and put some confetti inside your victims umbrella. When he or she goes to open it up...POOF! out comes the confetti.

Ping Pong Fallout
Put a bunch of ping pong balls or packing peanuts in an open box. Tilt it at an angle against the cupboard door (from the inside) so when the victim goes to open the cupboard the ping pong balls will all spill out.

Where did it go?
Remove the dining room table. Hide it somewhere. Then take the table cloth and whatever else was on top and put it back just the way it was, only this time its all on the floor.

Drenched With Water
This one takes a bit of practice. First, place a coin on your forhead and shake your head so the coin will fall into a funnel that is inserted in the beltline of your pants. Amaze your friends on how talented you are once you master this and when they ask to try it, quickly pour water down the funnel and into their pants.

So Heavy
Walk past a buddy with a large jug that is non transparent and act as if its filled with liquid, even though you only fill it with a couple ounces. Then ask him to carry it somewhere for you. He will be expecting a heavy load.

Blocked Sensor
Use a small piece of black tape to block the tv sensor so whoever decides to watch TV next cannot change the channel or adjust the volume.

Mail Box Prank
After the mail has already been delivered, fill the mail box with ping pong balls or packing nuts. Then ask someone else to go get the mail.

Poisonous Mushrooms
Buy some fresh mushrooms at the store. Paint them red. Then go and plant them in your friend or neighbors yard. They will think poisonous shrooms are going in their yard.

Embarasing Magazines
Send in subscriptions to embarasing magazines in the victim's name. Make sure to check "Bill Me".

Shoe Polish Phone Prank
Coat the reciever of someone's phone with shoe polish and then give them a call. Instant gratification. Make sure you match the colors of the polish and the phone. Small amounts of shaving cream work too.

Three Way Call
Utilizing threeway calling, call two people you don't know and star

Is it ok to use plastic table covers for a beach wedding?

beach wedding tables image

julienyosm

I don't know if to use plastic or buy other table covers. I have had suggestions that plastic will look bad. I just thought it didn't matter since they'll be thrown away anyway. I bought them in ivory colors? What do you think? only serious answers please?

Answer
I think they will be ok. But remember if there is a gust of wind and you have candles anywhere near the table you might want to second think it. With cloth table clothes they are more heavy and they won't move as much as a plastic one. But if there will be no candles around go for it!

I have some sand and small sea shells. What can I do to make them into a surprise present for my fiance'?

Salathia

I have a bag of some sand and another bag with small seashells. Me and my fiance' are having a beach themed wedding so I figured it would be nice if I made something for him with it. Problem is, I don't know what to do with them. I need some good ideas. Please and thank you.

Answer
Wind Chime, or get a shadow box and put the sand and shells in that. You could also make a table stand with them. Just have one with a box-like top fill it with the sand and shells then put a glass top on it. You could write him a small note on the back of the shells and give one to him each day. Buy him a bottle for him to fill up with them.

Which is the best Disney hotel for families?

kids beach table 2 in 1 on ... table where everyone could fill their own gift bag with surf and beach
kids beach table 2 in 1 image

wreindl

We are 2 families with 4 kids age 8 - 14 and want to spend 1 week in Disneyworld, Orlando. We definitely want to stay in one of the Disneyworld hotels. Can you tell me which one is the best for families - I have heard some are already really old and should not be used anymore?

Answer
It depends on what you want out of your resort. First of all you made a great decision to stay on property, there is not a resort or hotel anywhere around the Disney area that can hold a candle to what the Disney resorts themselves offer in terms of service and perks. Disney takes great care of their resort guests, whether you are in the value or the deluxe.

The decor of all of the resorts is outstanding, so it just depends on what you are looking for. Each of the families is going to need 2 rooms in most of the resorts, since they will only accomodate 4 people per room. The home away from home resorts/Disney Vacation Club resorts all have suites that accomodate from 4 to up to 12 people, so that could be an option. I also believe that the All-Star value resorts are adding family suites that can accomodate 6. Lets start with the values.

There are 4 different categories of Disney resort, value, moderate, deluxe, and Vacation Club. First, the value resorts are just that. They are expertly decorated, have huge pools, a good food court, but on the downside they are inexpensive so the rooms are on the smaller side and there is not a sit down table service restaurant. However, these are excellent choices for families. My favorite in this category is the All-Star Movies resort, with Pop Century a close second.

The moderates are a bit bigger than the values. The rooms are a little bigger, and they offer a sit down table service restaurant along with the food court. There is a large themed pool, but there is also smaller pools in each section as well. There are plenty of things to do in each of these resorts besides the Disney parks as well. Keep in mind that these resorts will probably only be able to accomodate 4 per room, so you will need 2. My favorite in this category is the Caribbean Beach resort. The resort itself is very large, but we loved our stay there.

The deluxe resort are the top of the resorts in price and amenities. These are the resorts that are located around the Seven Seas Lagoon in front of the Magic Kingdom, and are all connected by the monorail system (except for the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is near the Animal Kingdom). These have so much to do, have multiple restaurants, and even have character meals (don't miss the character breakfast at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary, regardless of where you stay! It is a favorite of ours.) My favorite in this category and my favorite overall is the Polynessian.

The Disney Vacation club resorts are the home away from home resorts. They have everything from a studio, one bedroom condo, two bedroom condo, to a grand villa (basically a townhouse that sleeps 12.) These come with a kitchenette (in the studio accomodations) or a full kitchen complete with utensils and everything you need to cook a meal. My favorite in this category is Saratoga Springs (and a close, close second to the Polynessian.)

There are a few websites you can go to and get tons more info. First, I would recommend going to the Disney website and using their resort comparison tool. You can compare the resorts in each category and decide what is going to work for you. You can even get a quote as to what your particular package will cost. Also, check out the disboards. The disboards is a message board website that is all about going to WDW. You can ask questions, get trip reports, itineraries from others guests, dining reviews, resort reviews, and tips from people who go to Disney often and know what they are talking about. Also, go to the bookstore and pick up the Birnbaum's guide to WDW. There are a ton of guide books out there, but that is the one that worked best for us.

I would also suggest that when you get your passes to the parks to at the very least add the Park Hopper option. It will add a small amount to the price of the passes, however it is worth the cost. The base ticket allows you to enter one park per day. With the park hopper you basically can come and go as you please. For example, if you were to go to the Animal Kingdom for the day, then decide you want to go back to MGM to ride Tower of Terror and catch the Fantasmic night time show (both must sees!) you would only be able to do that with the Park hopper option. It just gives you the ultimate in flexibility, which is what you want going to Disney.

Hope this helps, have a great trip!!

What do you expect in a cruise?

LetMEtell&

Boring? Fun?
How are the activities be organized? I am planning to go on cruise on spring break. What kind of activities my kids can have in cruise besides swimming pool, arcade? How will they be organized or arranged?

Answer
There are two factors to consider when planning a cruise (1) what activities are on ship, and (2) what port stops will be made that I will enjoy.

The activities on the cruise ship can be the most fun. You did not say what cruise line or ship you are considering going on but regardless just about every line and ship has established FREE programs for kids. The cruise lines have professionally trained staff who develop and run programs for kids by age groups. These staff people supervise the kids in activities on ship all day and sometimes into the early evenings. The kids are grouped by age. Some ships have special areas where the kids go to participate in the activities. ALL OF THIS IS FREE !!

Royal Caribbean Cruise line calls their kids programs "Adventure Ocean". Carnival, for example, calls its kids programs for 10 year olds "Camp Carnival". Norwegian calls its kids programs for 10 year olds "Navigators". Other cruise lines also have programs for kids as long as there are at least about 20 kids cruising.

In addition to the supervised programs, many ships have special areas just for kids including shallower pools, water slides and play areas. ALL OF THIS IS FREE. Royal Caribbean cruise line has some of the best on board activities for kids including on various ships, ice skating or roller blading, mini-golf, table tennis, rock climbing wall, basketball court and on the new Freedom class ships, Liberty, Freedom and Independence of the Seas the flowrider where kids can body surf right on ship. These ships also have a special water park area just for kids called the H2O Zone which has a mini lazy river, a small pool, water cannons and lots of fun stuff just for kids.

You can read about the kids programs on each cruise line's web site; just click on the "On Board Activities" tab or link and look for kids and family stuff. The best cruise lines to go on for kids activities would be Disney, Royal Caribbean and Carnival. My recommendation would be Royal Caribbean.

For adults there are always pools and hot tubs and many ship have a Solarium (a cover area) with a pool and hot tubs for adults only. This is in addition to the regular pool and hot tubs for everyone. Some ships have water slides.

Ships have great gymnasiums with a variety of equipment. The RC's Freedom and Liberty have THE best gyms I have ever seen on ships.

The cruise director will organize games and activities around the pool, especially on "at sea" days when there is no port stop. They may also have a midnight party on the pool deck with a buffet, music and dancing one night. Each night there will be a show and it is usually run twice so that no matter what time you go to dinner you can see the show. If you go on the Royal Caribbean ships with the ice skating rink they will have a free ice show that is fabulous.

If you are a gambler there will be a casino, except on Disney ships. Each day you will receive a "newsletter" type flier in your cabin that details the time and location of all of the activities on ship the next day. So you will know what is happening and where. Also, most ships will have a channel on the TV in the room that recaps activities for the current and next day. If there is a port stop the next day most ships will have a presentation in the show room or a lounge that talks about where to shop; then this is repeated on TV.

Most ships these day have 2,000 to 4,000 passengers so things on ship are very well organized and in most cases the ship does not even feel crowded.

When you select a cruise consider that those going to the Caribbean will feature a lot of beach time and water sports related activities like snorkel, jet ski, para-sailing, or just swimming and relaxing on a beach. If you go to Cozumel there is the opportunity to buy a tour to see Mayan ruins, if that's your interest. If you go to Jamaica the two main attractions are a river raft float trip (not rapids) and the Dunn's River Falls climb. If you want to do a lot of shopping then pick a cruise with St Thomas as one of the port stops. Most Caribbean cruises have a private island stop where the ship takes food ashore for an all day beach party with games and entertainment. Royal Caribbean has THE best private island I have ever been to at Labadee, Haiti. Its a huge place that has multiple beaches and many activities. RC's ships the Freedom and The Liberty which do both the Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries both have stops at Labadee.

How can I build my own ottoman/coffee table?

Dianne S

I'm looking to switch from a standard coffee table to one with cushions that can be used as an ottoman.

I can't find one I like so far. I'd like to try and build one. Know of any patterns or plans for building an ottoman?

Or do you know of any sites with lots and lots of choices in ottomans for sale?

Answer
Hit Goodwill & other 2nd hand shops for a wooden bench that has a storage place or a wooden toy box. Even an old "hope chest" Don't forget the "wanted category" of your local Craig's list.

Do you have an unfinished furniture store near where you live? I purchased a toy box from one, stained it to match my kitchen cabinets, made my own cushion . It houses the pots and pans that I only use for holidays. It was under a hundred bucks brand new!

Any suggestions on center pieces for wedding?

beach wedding table arrangements on Beach wedding centerpieces ideas inspirations cherrymarry | Wedding ...
beach wedding table arrangements image

BASVAGAS

Hi i am getting married next year and need some ideas cheap ones for center pieces ect and anything else you think you could help with ?

Answer
Centerpieces

Candles
It may be obvious, but the classic beauty of candles will never go out of style. Gather a collection of candles in various heights, along with a few glass hurricanes, and this could be all the décor that your tables need for an understated elegance. If you want to add a bit of color to the look, fill the bottoms of the hurricanes with dried lentils or colored popcorn before securing the candles inside. Or, you might opt to purchase a few bags of tea lights and a box of blank CD's. Center and secure a single tea light to each CD, and the décor is certain to reflect the beauty of your day for all to see. Scatter framed pictures of the two of you on each table for an added personal touch.

Fruits and Veggies
The USDA recommends that you have at least seven daily servings of fruits and vegetables, but does that suggestion hold true on your wedding day? Well, it may depend on how many tables you have. Fresh fruits and vegetables can make a gorgeous alternative to traditional arrangements. Brighten your tables with a large bowl of green apples, or create a pyramid of clementines on a cake platter, and scatter a few loose flowers among the pile. Or, for a fall wedding, you might opt for a selection of pumpkins, pomegranates, grapes, baby eggplants, and squash to adorn your tables in a cornucopia of colors.

Fresh Herbs
You'll save a mint with this idea. Pick up a collection of potted herbs from your local gardening store, tie a bit of ribbon around the pots, and voila!âyou have a collection of centerpieces that doubles as favors for your guests. If you have a lot of extra âthymeâ on your hands (and a green thumb), you might even consider potting and growing the herbs yourself.

Oil and Vinegar
Here's another all-in-one idea for your centerpieces and favors. Fill glass bottles of different shapes with an assortment of olive oils and vinegars. These also make the perfect fall wedding favors. Add a bit of accoutrement from the grocery store (fresh herbs, dried orange or lemon peel, chiles, etc.) to each one. Place the collection of bottles in the center of your table, and you may have found one place where oil and vinegar mix very well!

Seashells and Sand
Hold a beautiful seashell to your ear, and you may hear the ocean offering up the perfect décor for your wedding by the shore. First fill a collection of glass containers with some sand, and then begin your hunt for seashells and starfish. To make it extra special, place personalized seashells in the containers and invite guests to take them home as keepsakes. Top each container off with a sprig of beach grass, and you have a centerpiece that is certain to last long after the tide rolls in.

Sticks and Stones
There are no bones about itânature is the perfect designer. Take a walk around your home (or your wedding site) in search of rocks and branches, and you just may find ingredients for the most zen of centerpieces. Scatter a few soy pillar candles among the natural décor, and you've also found the perfect compliment to your eco-friendly wedding.

Books
Make words the center of your weddingâliterally. If you're the literary type (or even if you're not), stacked books make a centerpiece that is both thrifty and elegant. You could theme each table after a writer (adding a framed quote from the writer nearby), or you might choose to scatter books around the room that hold a special significance to you both as a couple. Tie each stack with a gorgeous satin ribbon. Your guests won't be able to turn a page on this lovely décorâunless the books become their favors at the end of the evening.

Art Supplies
They say that there's an artist in all of us, so why not test this theory on your guests? Fill your glass vases with crayons, markers, and colored pencils in a variety of colors (or choose only the colors that match your theme). Place white butcher paper over the linens on each of the tables and you've created the perfect way for your guests to draw out the evening. Their table décor could even become a unique memento for your wedding scrapbook.

Games
Here's a fun way for the evening to play out: Dig up that collection of old board games from your parents' basement and scatter them among the tables. In doing so, you create a retro-fun way to entertain your guests. Hungry, Hungry Hippos will double as a conversation piece, preventing any awkward silence among your guests before their own dinner is served.

Candy
What could be sweeter than this idea? Fill a collection of glass bowls, aluminum pails, or planting pots with jelly beans, lemon drops, Tootsie Rolls, Red Hots, or personalized M&M's, and stick a few personalized lollipops right in the middle. This decorating idea doubles as a favorâand is sure to satisfy a guest's sweet tooth long before he reaches the center of a Tootsie Pop.

For my 30th birthday I am having a Luau themed party? I need help with food and drink ideas!?

cutieblues

I am looking for simple food and drink ideas for a luau party.

Answer
A pig on a spit. A must! I would use the pineapples for glasses (after you hollow them out of course.) Margareta and Mitie's.

Mojito
Ingredients
3 tbsp (fresh) Lemon Juice
2 tsp Sugar
1 1/2 oz Light Rum
3 (Sprig) Mint
Club Soda
Directions
In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lemon juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lemon slice and the remaining mint, and serve.
Or blue lagoons

I would serve cous cous possiably with the pineapple onion. Goes really well with the pork.

According to the Scribner-Bantam dictionary, a "luau is a feast of Hawaiian food." Traditionally, Luaus celebrated major events in Hawaii such as a visiting dignitary or a wedding. The feast could go on for days and involved first and foremost lots of food! Today restaurants and hotels offer scaled down Luaus that celebrate Hawaiian culture and cuisine. You'll often find entertainment such as hula dancers and fire dancers offered to guests along with the traditional roasted pig.

There are many little details that will help you to create the feeling of a traditional Luau. Or, if you prefer, you can turn it into a campy party with lots of fun and tacky lights, plastic hula girls and more. When you consider the party music, you have a choice. You can stick with the traditional, or you can choose beach party sounds.

Whichever style suits your group, everyone should arrive ready for fun.

Whenever you plan a party, you should read the recipes in advance of the dinner to help plan the timing of the meal. Be especially careful with this meal as several recipes will need advance preparation. For example, if you plan to build the traditional pit for roasting kalua pig, you'll need lots of time to prepare.

For the natural look you'll want some of these decorations:

bamboo placemats real tropical flower arrangements with orchids, hibiscus, bird of paradise and any other tropical flowers you can find.
sea shells scattered around your tables
napkin rings made from sea shells glued to raffia rings
coconuts
pineapples
a real parrot (only if you or a friend owns one, of course)
palm trees
palm leaves
tiki torches
tiki masks and other supplies
real flower leis
tropical design fabric tablecloths and napkins
For a campy beach party, you can include all of the above, but also add any or all of the following Hawaiian icons:

plastic hula dancers
surf boards
plastic leis
little paper parasols for your drinks
plastic picks for your drinks and hors d'oeuvres
string lots of fun party lights above and around your buffet table
colorful tropical tablecloths, napkins and party goods in paper or vinyl materials
tropical design confetti
At either party you can ask your guests to dress in colorful Hawaiian Aloha shirts and straw hats.

Welcome all guests to your Luau with a kiss and a flower lei.

I prefer the silk or real flower leis to the plastic ones you can find in most party stores.

If you're setting a campy beach party mood as in the Elvis movie Blue Hawaii, have raffia grass skirts available for anyone who'd like to try hula dancing.

Finally, organize a limbo contest for fun.

Chicken Luau

Pineapple Luau Style
Cut a thick slice from the top and bottom of an unpeeled pineapple. Remove center of pineapple in a single cylinder, leaving 1/2-inch of the fruit inside the rind. Cut peeled fruit in quarters lengthwise, remove core and cut into eight spears. Replace bottom piece; refill shell with spears and replace top. Serve by removing crown and pulling out the pineapple spears. Makes 8 servings.

WikiWiki Lomilomi Salmon
1 can (14.75 oz.) red salmon
3 tomatoes, diced
1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
2 tablespoon water
1 cup crushed ice
Shred salmon. Mix together salmon, tomatoes, green onions, onion and water; stir gently. Chill several hours or overnight. Add ice just before serving. Makes 8 servings.
Note: In Hawaii salted salmon is usually used in this dish. If you substitute salted salmon be sure to soak for several hours, changing the water several times, before shredding.

Happy birthday and Good luck

Where are the cool beaches in California?

table beach laguna on ... Island Park and Treasure Island Beach at www.laguna-beach-info.com
table beach laguna image

J*LO

I am going to San Francisco in 2 weeks and after which I would like to chill out at the beach somewhere in Cali. Where would be nice? Santa Barbara? Laguna? Monterey etc etc. Appreciate any suggestions...

Answer
The best beaches are in the San Diego Area. Laguna is for posers & perverts (my opinion), Santa Barbara has too many uptight people with children & issues, Monterey is on the cold side, although it does have a great Aquarium called The Monterey Bay Aquarium. Northern California Beaches tend to be colder than the Southern California Beaches. You could have a nice drive to a half-way point like Pismo Beach. Check your tide tables & try to avoid extreme high tides & lookout for jellyfish & sting-rays that come out at certain beaches.

Is there a really NICE place in Los Angeles to get coffee?

Elince Moc

I don't mean like the resterant.. I don't care if its a Starbucks... I just want a NICE (pretty) place
Somewhere not so, um, congested with people
Somewhere with tables and chairs outside
Preferably a big outdoor area
Maybe some nice vegetation
Just NICE
Not dirty like all of Los Angeles

Answer
Go to the Riodan's Tavern right next to the Pantry on Figueroa and James Woods in Downtown LA. Very nice, no not outdoor but you don't want outdoor in this weather anyway.

IF you have to have outdoor and don't mind driving to Laguna Beach (Orange County) then Las Brisas is PERFECT. Right on the beach, all your can eat breakfast buffet, gourmet coffee, and a place to walk on the beach after. Only 10-15 bucks a person for breakfast too.

How do you stop the housework getting overwhelming?

camping tables and storage on ... such as this modular converting table, chairs and storage unit idea
camping tables and storage image
Q. The chores seem to be piling up non-stop!! i have 4 kids and a busy lifestyle, which I love and wouldn't trade for anything - but just cannot seem to get on top of all my housework! The washing is all clean - but the pile is HUGE to fold and put away (6 people, 6 pairs of socks per day x 7 = 42 pairs of socks a week!!! - not to mention all the underwear and other clothes).
Besides that - the general cooking, cleaning, tidying up, and I want to help the kids with homework, do some baking and have some fun and spend time with others...
What ideas for organising the cleaning better? Any tips of perfect chores for kids? (ages 12, 9, 4 and baby). They only make their beds, lay the table, clear the table and pick up their toys is really all they do at the moment... they are good kids and will gladly help out - but how to structure it?
Any ideas of storage or tips on how to keep the toys tidy in the family room? Help, I'm really getting overwhelmed

Answer
I know how you feel. This past summer I had 7 kids plus myself and my husband in our home. One of them was terminally ill on a vent that required alot of care (my daughter may she rest in peace 9-3-07) The ages of the kids were at the time 17-15-14-13-12-7-1(the 14yr old and 1 yr old are here full time, 17-15-13yr old my sisters kids, 12yr old my husbands ex gf's son, 7yr old is my sd)

Anyhow the older ones basically cleaned up after themselves. Rule in my house you arent playing with it or using it and its on the floor it goes in the trash. Took my SD 2 times of having her things thrown away before she knew I ment business. I did NOT ask any of them to help me with my son (1) They all put away their own clothing and my SD has been doing this since she turned 5. They all had to maintain their rooms and that includes DUSTING and Vacuuming. As for the main living area as with most moms before I went to bed it was picked up, twice a week doesnt take me no time to go through and dust. The bathrooms maintained daily after my own shower and they ALL knew to clean up after themselves.

As for laundry..Holy buckets! At first I was going to stick with the "one day a week" which I did when all the other kids were not here and it was just myself, my husband, daughter and son. Well that didnt work I was doing laundry all day. And I folded as they came out of the dryer. So instead I did a load a day and it wasnt so bad on me. We also had baskets in each room and in some rooms we had 2 baskets one for socks/underware the other clothing. Even now my husband and I have 2 baskets in our room and one in the laundry room and my sons room.I'll be honest though I was so glad when everyone left I could finally relax!

The meal prep was also something else as i was use to cooking for 3 I was now cooking for 10! Dinner was at a set time they were to be here for it (17yr old and husband worked so came in later) if they were not here they were to fend for themselves when they came in. Dinner dishes was the LAST dishes I did for the day, again anything used after dinner they had to wash and put up themselves. When it came to grocery shopping and putting stuff away my husband said "if you plan on eating any of this help put it away" even at age 5 my SD could put up the fruits, carry cans to the pantry, knew where everything went so she could help sort. And she'd always say "I did such a good job didnt I" and I'd respond "Yes you did ty for your help" and she was proud of herself

My SD's mom thought it was a bit "concentration camp" but then again her house is a mess. But it worked for us and next summer when everyone is here again and a yr older they will help again. I started doing my own laundry at age 9 I remember it fondly made me feel "grown up" your oldest is 12 and I think with a little time devoted by you he/she can do their own laundry as well as help with the meals. Dust the living room and vacuum.

Also where is your husband in all this? Mine works 60 hrs a week but is more then willing to help out when we have the "herd" here and now that its just down to the 3 of us he still helps me out. As for storage my sons toys and he has a TON of them are in baskets large wicker baskets or a Toybox with sliding doors. They are thrown all over within 20 minutes of him being awake at naptime I pick them up, when he wakes they are again all over, at bedtime he helps me pick them up and he's only 16 months old! My SD who is now 7 does the same thing so I started to "rotate" her toys she doesnt miss them she hardly played with any of them just the same ones over and over and thats helped with the mess up in her room. With my son if he doesnt play with something "out of sight is out of mind" get the idea?

All I can say is do not try to do it all in one or two days. Do a little every day and it wont be so overwhelming

What else would first time campers need?

Q. My boyfriend and I are going camping in a couple of weeks. We have all the basics - tent, sleeping bags, air mattress, torch, esky. It will be at a camp ground so there will be a BBQ there, but what else could we need that we may not think of?
I'm in Australia - not too much need for warmth at the moment, we've got more than enough!!

What are some creative ways to display table seating cards at a wedding?

beach theme table numbers on Wedding Business Cards - Beach Theme Wedding Reception Table Numbers
beach theme table numbers image

Nikky

I want to something a bit more different then the usual folded up in line cards with everyones name and table numbers. I want it to be creative but not expensive.

Answer
It would help to give you ideas if we knew what kind of theme or setting you are having at the event.

For example, for a beach wedding, you could paint everyone's name on a shell at their place setting.

For a formal wedding, you could have people's names embroidered or screen printed on their napkin.

You could put a tiny pot of flowers with each guests names painted on it at each place setting.

There are lots of things you can do if you think outside the box.

Whats a fun beachy way of doing table numbers?

bloodyrose

The centerpieces have not been picked yet, table clothes are light blue, the wedding is just causal and everythings happen at the beach so thats the only theme type thing to it.

http://www.australiaentertains.com.au/2011/01/19/table-numbers-with-individual-style/table-number-ideas-6 I think this is my FAV!
Not sure how hard or labor intensive it might be, but it would be so cute to make small sand castles, and then have a little "flag" with the number.

I am redesigning our den area. I want to make it modern, with a beach feel. How can I do this?

beach house end tables on Chippy End Table | Mexico Beach House Chic

Special Ka

I have picked out a lot of black modernish furniture. But how can I add the beachy feel? The black furniture goes with some of our other furniture in our house, but not entirely. I am really trying to stick to IKEA.com, so if you have some ideas, that'd be awesome!

Answer
1] carpet in sand, or sea blue
2] walls in sky blue, with clouds, maybe?
3] upholstery in sand [ yellow beige ]
4] hang up a seagull mobile
5] palm tree standing lamps
6] seashell ornaments and knick knacks [ planters, bowls,
candle holders ]
7] beach towel covered throw pillows
8] sheer curtains in white or sky blue
9] collect old metal [ antique, or just used ] coolers to use as end and coffee tables. If you can't find one big enough, use shipping crate and decorate it like crates in Castaway.
10] paintings of ships or beach scenes

How should I offer something to the God and Goddess in Wiccan culture?

Alternativ

I was either going to place my offering plate at the base of the big tree in my backyard and let the animals take care of it, or I was going to walk to the beach, which is minutes by foot away from my house, and throw something into the waves. If i end up doing the latter, what should I throw to them? I'm new to this, as you can probably tell. :) Thank you!

And by the way, don't try and supress my religion with yours. That will just show your own ignorance.

Answer
My toddler & I used to shake out table crumbs outside as a "gift to the goddess in the form of ants"

When I toss something in the compost, I just silently consider the micro & macro organisms who would break down the scraps/etc.

As Wicca is about nature, I'd suggest looking at what is living locally to you. I rarely buy something special, but just think of what's locally. It's useless to consider leaving onion skins out, but leaving pumpkin or melon seeds would be welcome by many local wildlife.

I want to buy a digital picture frame and there are many to choose from. I want a 7 or 8 inch screen to put on a table. I am not interested in music in it. Considering price, picture clarity and user friendly, what are your suggestions, makes and models?

Answer
I like the classic look of this frame.

But, I would probably buy this one because it has a motion sensor which means I wouldn't have to turn it on or off all of the time.

There are a whole lot of other frames here. I highly recommend looking at the best rated ones and reading the reviews to see what other people have said about them.

Where to go camping inexpensively and without a car near NYC?

km1312

Need a fairly cheap tent campground with basic bathroom and drinking water facilities near hiking trail(s). Looking to head there Friday evening after work and return Sunday evening on a train and/or bus.

Thanks!

Answer
Floyd Bennett Field
Manhattanites have always considered Brooklyn to be something of a wilderness, but it may still come as a surprise to learn that you can actually camp thereâand weâre not talking about sleeping on the sidewalk. This abandoned-airport-turned-national-park in Marine Park has room for about 100 campers, each site with a fire pit and picnic tableâand not much else. (It may be the only place in New York City where holes in the ground are considered acceptable bathroom facilities.) Itâs a little slice of serenityâ¦with bonus noise from JFK-bound planes that occasionally fly nearby!
Price: $50 per campsite for a three-night stay.
Getting there: Take the 2 or 5 train (at rush hour) to Flatbush Avenue and transfer to the Rockaway Parkâbound Q35 bus. Call 718-338-3799 for reservations.

Where is the best place to camp in the Grand Canyon with young children?

Tara O

Where are planning a trip to camp at the Grand Canyon this summer. I have a 3 and 5 year old. I also would appricate details of what kind of things we can do with small children while at the Canyon. Thank you so much!

Answer
First off, you need to decide which rim you want to visit: the North Rim or the South Rim.

Most people go to the South Rim because it is easier to reach and is more developed with more overlooks, lodges, cafes and several good-sized towns (Flagstaff and Williams) nearby. The North Rim is harder to get to, only has one lodge and no large towns nearby. Because it is a thousand feet higher in elevation, it is cooler than the south rim and closed during the winter (mid-October to mid-May). During summer, I prefer the North Rim because it is cooler and less crowded, but young kids might find more things to see and do at the South Rim.

At either rim, you only have one real camping option for kids that young and that is the drive-in campgrounds (one at each rim). They are both very similar and pretty nice with a picnic table at each site and central bathroom facilities. They are also both a ways back from the rim, which make them a bit more peaceful, but also means you either have to drive to reach the rim and overlooks or go for a fairly long walk. You can reserve campsites online and should make reservations well in advance (see links below).

Beyond the car campgrounds mentioned above, there are also primitive backpacking campsites in the canyon itself (not recommmended for kids that young) as well as camping 'at large' in areas of the National Forest surrounding the park (the better locations being on the north rim to the west of the park - but these can be tough to reach).

As far as things to do for kids at the South Rim... kids at that age are probably not going to be entranced with scenic natural views for long or up for long hikes. There is a nice free shuttle that runs along the rim from the lodges out to Hermit Rest with stops along the way and the driver telling stories about the canyon - most kids and adults would probably enjoy it. They would probably like watching the burros and their attending cowboys at the corral near Bright Angel lodge. The large patio area along the rim behind Bright Angel lodge is also a good place to see squirrels, ravens and sometimes condors (not to mention ice cream from the nearby snackbar).

There are usually a number of ranger talks each day, many of them at the Shrine of Ages auditorium near Yavapai Lodge. The park also has a junior ranger program where children go to various exhibits and talks to get stamps and win a junior ranger award. The 3 year old would probably be a bit young even for that, but the 5 year might enjoy it.

There are fewer attractions for kids at the North Rim, but it has the benefit of having more open space and less roads and traffic. There are lots of places there for kids to run around in the trees and play with pinecones and sticks (my main memories of going there as a small kid). Along the road to the Cape Royale overlook there is a nice little hike called Cliff Springs trail that would be suitable for kids that age. It goes a mile into a small side canyon to a pretty little seep spring - it is fairly level and despite the name, you are not walking along any cliffs.

Has anyone ever planned a beach themed backyard wedding?

baby3

I need ideas on a beach themed backyard wedding.

Answer
Never actually planned one. But I have been to one! It was really pretty. They got shells from the local dollar or discount store and put them on the tables for decoration. They also wore sandals and shorts. All of the guest wore white shirts with khaki shorts. The Bride wore a really pretty blue dress. She was the only one that was different. They also got a net and hung it behind the officiant and put little shells all over it. They also got blue flowers for the tables.

How can I make him like me back? 10 points best answer! ;)?

itscuzimye

I really like this guy and after a few months I finally got over him because he started to like another girl. But after last night at the dance at my school he looked so cute and handsome. I couldn't take my eyes off of him and I went in the photobooth with just him. We're going to this camp together and we have to take bart and the bus (just us two). So my other question is what type of conversation should I start off with to get it smoothly going? Thanks (:

Answer
Sigh. You can't /make/ someone else like you.

You can pretend to be someone else - someone they would like - but that never ends well.

You can be yourself and hope they like you for who you are - and they either will or they won't.

You can let them know that /you/ like /them/ and see if they return your feelings.

But you can't /make/ anyone like you.

Next:

I have to ask, has anything really changed? You moved on because he liked someone else. Is he with this person? Does he still like her? If nothing has changed, then your problem remains what it was when you chose to move on, and I think that was a very smart idea.

If it has changed.. and with all my opinions already laid out on the table...

I suggest talking about what camp will be like, as that is the point of the trip, and is therefore a natural topic of conversation.

Be yourself. Talk about the things /you/ are looking forward to (or dreading) and ask /him/ what he thinks/likes/doesn't like about camp.

From there, either the conversation will become stilted (in which case I'd back up for a while) or it will progress naturally to other likes/interests or past experiences.

Best of Luck~

How do I create a good art show set-up?

table camping double on [ Table / Chair ] - - ...

I'm new to the juried art show world, and I've got one coming up in December. I need a 10x10 booth, which I have to make myself, which also needs to be covered... Finding a camping cover-up that size shouldn't be difficult, but what's a good idea for the walls to hang my paintings upon? It needs to be effective as well as look pleasant.

Answer
Not sure if your art is themed or not, so if you'd need a different background for various paintings, but if you do, try this as a lightweight, easy to assemble/take down & carry to different shows:

1. Use PVC tubing & union joints to build 3 frame walls
that are as tall as you need

2. Find a solid color fabric you like & drape it over each
wall. (You can vary the color/texture/etc. if you want.)
This will give you privacy & define your space. If you
need some extra space to hang small, lightweight
sketches, use double-sided tape to adhere the fabric
draped over the back of your frame, then a small tab
on the back of each sketch to adhere it to the front
for display.

3. Get some room dividers that match each theme of
your paintings. If the divider is fabric covered, use
curtain hooks to hang your pictures; if its wood, use
screw in hooks; if its plastic/vinyl, use 3M hangers;
etc. (Rember to bring a small tackle box you can
keep under your chair with extra hangers, scissors,
tape, etc.)

4. You could lean larger, framed paintings against the
legs of the table you set-up in a corner of your 10 x
10 booth + set-up a couple easels in other corners.

Not knowing exactly the size/weight/medium of your paintings its difficult to give you just one idea. I hope at least one of these helps you think of a way to display your art.

Can anyone name theis movie from the 60s for me?

Princess

Ok, I have a framed movie still with a female sitting on the edge of a billiards table. The movie info is as follows: Leigh Taylor Young, as a man shredding shrew, plans to put Ryan O'Neal directly behind the eight ball in this drama. So, what is this drama they are speaking of?

Answer
"The Big Bounce"(1969)

PLOT SUMMARY:"Jack Ryan is a young Vietnam veteran with a criminal record, who gets fired from his job as a migrant laborer on a California produce farm run by the mean-spirited camp manager Bob Rodgers. Ryan then meets and teams up with the seductive Nancy Barker the secretary and mistress to the unscrupulous owner Ray Ritchie. When Ryan takes another job as a cleaner at a local motel owned by Sam Mirakian a local justice-of-the-peace, Nancy again approaches Ryan to help her rob Ritchie's safe in his house which allegedly has $50,000 of payroll money. Ryan reluctantly agrees to help with the heist, but becomes highly distrustful of Nancy, suspecting she may double-cross him to keep all the money for herself, and vice versa with her over him."

It would be for me in Orange County Calif the coast of laguna beach or newport beach it is a lovely shoreline and many beach goers go there year around rain or shine because of its beauty.

how about you peoples share your beautiful sights.

Answer
Wow.. that beach sounds so beautiful. The way you describe it.. makes me want to see it in person.

For me its the green belt just outside my living-room window. There is a path and so many old trees of many colors are lining it now that its Fall season. I enjoy sitting on my little chair and table tucked in front of that window, watching the squirrels move around on the tree branches, listening to the birdies as they fly and twirl with their friends. Its a peaceful sight and it brings such a warmth to my heart to sit there, with my cup of tea, the Word and just chat with the Lord some. He is a great companion :)

How much do you get paid to be a teen vouge photographer and what is the cost of living in laguna beach?

For a math project we have to pick a profession and where to live. I would love the help! If you get it from another website please please please put your source.

Answer
You need a plan: First item on the agenda is rent. A decent 1BR apartment in LA currently goes for $1200, give or take. Nicer areas and areas closer to the beach are much higher. Don't expect to move to Santa Monica and get an apartment on the beach for that much. Or Toluca Lake, or Beverly Hills. Unlike many metro areas, LA is unique in that it extends for nearly 100 miles in every direction. There are no open spaces between towns. So the price tends to stay high until you are 70-100 miles from Los Angeles.

All told, it generally takes about $3,000 per month to live here in a bare-bones mode. If you don't have a job that pays that much or skills that can get you that kind of job, stay where you are. If you are unskilled and work for minimum wage (or for tips like bartending or waiting tables), you'll only make about $1200 per month. Laguna Beach would cost about $5,000-$6000 per month, since rent will cost about $2500 for a 1BR apartment.

As for being a photog for Teen VOGUE, you might need to call them. Photography is a very up-and-down business, and you really get paid by the shoot, not hourly. So it all depends on how many shoots you do. Unless you're wildly successful, I don't think you'll make that kind of coin, even as a photographer.
