fun place to go to in cocoa beach FL??

CINDY

Answer
Depends on your age if you have children. I have been there many times. We love the pier. There are shops for kids, and adults all over the place they have an aquarium scene painted on the outside thats really cool. The end of the pier has a tiki hut, and you can rent fishing poles on the pier for cheap and fish. There is a couple of good bars (sorry) its coconuts something tables are shaped like surf boards they have decent food little pricey, and you can go on the deck outside on the beach, and have live music. Ron Jons is a must. Don't forget disney world, and universal studios is only 30 minute drive down the bee line highway from there. Also Disney cruise lines is close and you can go to the port and hang out or there is Kennedy space center close too..Lots to do in cocoa beach sorry if it was to long :)

Playing the Virtual Villager game, I have the garden, the first hut, and the school/ I also have the lagoon?

posty28

cleared. Villagers are harvesting food, doing laundry, researching and watering the "field". What is next? I have 21, ooo points and am saving for either the next farming or construction level. Why are they watering the feild> What will become of that? What else should I have them working on> I feel stuck!?
THANK YOU!!!!

Answer
Scroll down to puzzle 9. it is the watering field.
Detailed spoilers for the 16 puzzles:
(courtesy of ladycfii)

Donât read these unless you want to know exactly how to solve each of the puzzles.

Puzzle 1 requires a builder to clean up the well, so that there will be a source of fresh water for your tribe. Drag a villager with some building skill to the well.

Puzzle 2 is the first of 3 additional huts that your villagers will construct as your population grows and your villagers require more housing. The huts will be initiated, as needed, by one of your builders. Your population is limited to 7 villagers until the first hut is finished. Once itâs finished, your tribe can grow to a population of 15. The second hut allows your population to expand to 30 villagers, and the final hut allows your population to grow to the population limit of approximately 90 villagers. You must have a villager trained in building in order to build the new huts. At the start of the game, one of your builders already has skill in building and will work on the hut unless you retrain them and assign them to a different occupation. Itâs important to make sure that you have at least one builder in your village so that you will be able to provide additional housing for your growing tribe. If none of your villagers has any skill in building, and you need to train a builder, your villagers can gain building skill by fixing any of the 3 huts that they have constructed.

Puzzle 3 is completed by cleaning up the debris on the beach. Completion of this puzzle is required before your villagers will be able to fish in the ocean (which also requires Level 3 of Harvesting). Drag a villager to the debris field and they will begin cleaning up the beach.

Puzzle 4 is the founding of a school for your village. Drag a master scientist to the long building north of the research table.

Puzzle 5 is completed by removing the blockage from the creek in the northwest corner of the village. Your villagers will need to have researched Level 2 of Construction to work on this puzzle. Drag a villager to the pile of rocks blocking the flow of water from the creek. Once the blockage is cleared, the water will flow into a sparkling lagoon that your villagers will use for various work and leisure activities. This puzzle is a key to three other puzzles.

Puzzle 6 is dependent upon the completion of the lagoon and level 3 of Harvesting. Take a master farmer to the lagoon, and they will begin hunting a strange fish. It may take many tries before they succeed, so be patient and keep trying.

Puzzle 7 is the discovery of the graveyard and requires Level 2 of Spirituality to complete. When one of your villagers dies, drag an adult villager to the northeast corner of the island. The villagers will celebrate the discovery and will then proceed to provide a proper burial for that little pile of bones in village center. After the first burial, your villagers will initiate burials for all deceased members of the tribe.

Puzzle 8 requires that your villagers master the medicinal properties of 4 plants indigenous to the island. One plant is located south of the lagoon site, one is the cactus thatâs located near the boulder, and the other two are on the east side of the island. Drag a villager to each of the 4 plants until each one is mastered.

Puzzle 9 is dependent upon the completion of the lagoon. Take one of your villagers to the field on the east side of the island (where they see dead flowers), and they will begin to water the field with the pure water from the lagoon. If you have builders in your tribe, they will begin to water the field on their own. Villagers without building skill will water the field, also, but will stop after one trip. Once your villagers have put sufficient water on the field (it takes a lot of water), the field will be revived and will once again be in full bloom.

Puzzle 10 is dependent upon the butterflies from puzzle 14. Those butterflies will be able to pollinate a special plant on the island. Once the butterflies begin to follow the Golden Child, drag him or her to the strange plant north of the berry bush.

Puzzle 11 is the restoration of the temple at the site of the ruins. After attaining Level 3 of Construction, drag one of your villagers to the ruins in the southeast portion of the island, and they will begin restoring the ruins.

Puzzle 12 is dependent upon the completion of the temple, as well as attaining Level 3 of Spirituality. Drag one of your builders to the sparkly rock on the west side of the village, and they will begin to chisel the rock.

Puzzle 13 is the birth of the Golden Child and requires the completion of the idol, the lagoon, and Level 3 in Fertility. You will need to take a nursing mom to the lagoon.

Puzzle 14 is dependent upon the Golden Child. Take the Golden Child to the Magic Flower Garden.

Puzzle 15 is a buried treasure. Its location can be discovered only by a master builder. Your tribe must also have researched Level 3 in both Construction and Science before they have the technology required to make the discovery. You must actually drop your builder in the right location - dragging him around won't help you find it. Look for the message, "Is something buried here?" to tell you that you're in the right place. If you want a hint for the location, highlight the following white text: Try dropping your builder in various sandy places in the lower half of the village map to see if he notices anything. If you want the exact location, highlight this text: Try dropping your builder directly south of the food bin in line with the temple. Once he locates something, you may have to be persistent before he will actually start digging. Keep dropping him there - it could take many, many tries. Once he starts digging, and the scaffolding appears, other builders (if you have any), regardless of skill, will start to help, too!

Puzzle 16 is the moving of the boulder, which can be done only by the Golden Child. You don't need to make him do anything (and it won't work if you try). Just give it some time, and he will take care of it for you. After heâs born, you should just watch him for a while, if you have the time - it's entertaining to see him solve that puzzle, especially when you have a lot of villagers.

Long Beach to Laguna Beach Wedding Locations?

Jessica

I got engaged in August:) We were originally planning on having our wedding in Laguna Beach in early August '09, but now I'm not sure, I'll be happy to have it any time next summer. I've just become so frustrated with trying to find a place to have it. My parents don't have alot of extra money, neither do my fiance and I, so if you know of any wedding ceremony/reception sites that are affordable...please let me know!!

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer!!

Answer
I have a place that might work. It really all depends on your budget and what you want and how many people.

I was married at Hotel Laguna. It is one of the smaller older hotels on the beach. You can get married on the beach (no permit required private beach) or in the garden, and have the reception there. They have 4 different rooms to chose from depending on the size of course. We really liked them due to the reception hall over looked the beach and had a small patio that lead to the beach. So our guest could talk a stroll down the beach under the stars.

They of course cater it, and have several package deals. All included wait staff, tables, chairs, liens, dishes, bar tender, coordinator, and your suite for the night.

The staff is wonderful and the food very good. Talk to Damon go on a walk thur with him. He is the head coordinator, he always calm and make sure you are calm and on time and things go right!

If you have any questions or would like more detail email me.

Best wishes in all your planning.

Where can I go in southern California to be at the beach and at a park at the same time?

Lilit

I'm looking for a beach which has an adjacent park for BBQs, etc.

Answer
Heisler Park in Laguna Beach is on a cliff just above the beach.

It's fairly small, with just a handful of picnic tables
and barbeque grills.

Traffic in Laguna is pretty bad - especially now (July/Aug)
with the art festivals in full swing.

You might find something to fill your bill at Huntington
or Newport - those are much bigger beaches.
I think they have fire pits in someplaces, and there
might be some barbeque spots, but I'm not sure.

what are good things to have at a sweet sixteen party?

Krista Bar

i want it to be big!
like i heard a chocolate foutain is good but what else?
my theme is beach.
helpp!!!

Answer
A chocolate fountain is always good, make sure you have a lot of things to dip in it, including fresh fruit, cookies, marshmallows, donuts, and graham crackers. Since your theme is beach, if you can afford it I think it would be cool to have a whole bunch of sand brought in to your venue so you have a sandy area. Include beach balls and things like that. Huge palm trees would be a nice decorating touch, you can get either the inflatable ones or the ones made out of lights. Tiki torches will add to the beach theme. If you are having it at the beach or if part of it is going to be outside, you can set up a volleyball and badminton net, have a frisbee and football to throw around, and have water balloons and water guns. You could have a bikini contest for the ladies, and a best chest competition for the guys. White and blue Christmas lights strung up will give a nice effect when it gets dark, and you could have balloons and streamer in colors that go with your theme as well. Get a huge cake made to look like a beach. For my sixth birthday I had one done that had half sand and half ocean, and it looked really good. You want to have a lot of snacks and appetizers. The basic ones are chips and dip, mozzarella sticks, cheese quesadillas with sour cream and guacamole, pigs in a blanket, and potato skins. Some other ideas are trail mix, popcorn, and mixed nuts. If your party is outside you could have a bonfire and make s'mores. Pizza is the best way to go for dinner because everyone likes it.You could also include some buffet style foods like macaroni and cheese and lasagna. For desserts other than cake, I would suggest an assortment of cookies and candy, and you could do mini cupcakes or an ice cream sundae bar as well. One things that can make a party stand out is party favors. You can give everyone cute bags that match your theme and fill them with candy, flower leis, tropical colored nail polish and chunky jewelry, beach themed lotion, candles and room incense, a beach ball not yet inflated, a beach themed movie, a mini water gun, a mixed cd with beach themed songs, and things like that. Obviously some of the items are for girls only, but you can make separate bags for the girls and guys. If you can afford it, you could have t shirts printed that have your name, the name of your party, and the date on them for everyone to keep as a party favor also. You could consider renting a photo booth for everyone to get their pictures taken in, or an ice sculpture of a dolphin or the ocean or something similar. Anything big and bold will really set your party apart from others. Make sure you have a lot of great music that everyone will enjoy, and if you have part of your party inside with a dance floor, include a disco ball, strobe lights, and maybe even a fog machine. You could give everyone glow sticks and glow bracelets to wear at that time as well. Whatever you end up doing, make sure you stick to your theme. If you make mini cupcakes, have the icing be blue and have a topper on them that is ocean or beach themed. On the tables you could have blue and white table cloths, and then have a centerpiece on the table that is beach themed, along with beach themed confetti. Another great idea is to have a disposable camera at each table. That way, guests can take pictures throughout the night on those, and you will have some interesting pictures to develop. One other thing you could consider doing is having a picture of you framed in white matte board, and having everyone that comes to the party sign it. Good luck and have a great time!

Sweet 16 themes please? 10 points to the best answer!?

sugar

I want a theme where girls can't come as sluts or even look like one.
I also want a theme that boys will enjoy.?!?

Answer
BEACH THEME!!!
Decorating for your sweet sixteen beach party is super fun. For any theme you

choose, make sure there's tons of color! Nothing brightens the mood like a captivating scenery.

Decorate your party tables with tropical designed table cloths. Scatter some large seashells around your tables.

If you are partying outside, line your backyard with tiki torches or solar lights. Keep a bunch of beach balls lying around and water balloons out in buckets for when someone wants to throw them around.

Grab some cardboard boxes from any local grocery store (they are free if you ask for them!) and cut them out into surfboards! Paint your surfboards with fun designs to fit your sweet 16 beach party theme.

Hang up some large fish nets and big colorful umbrellas. And don't forget the colorful balloons, confetti and streamers.

Make sure to have a non-alcoholic drink bar available for your party guests. Fill the bar with various flavors of soda, tropical juices, and some tasty smoothies.

Get creative with your sweet 16 beach party invitations!

Message in a bottle invitations are a fun way to hint to your friends your party theme.

How to make them? It's easy! I promise.

Grab some plastic bottles from your recycling bin and wash them out. Find some pebbles and spray paint them your desired color. Sand will also do. Get some small seashells from any beach or dollar store, and fill the bottle with those as well.

Make old paper by burning a few holes through your invitation paper, or simply burning the edges of each paper. Rub a little coffee on the paper before you write on it. This adds a brown, older effect to your invitations.

Now write your invitations by hand! You could also type out your invitations on the computer and follow the paper fading process after each invitation is printed.

This is a little secret I learned from an old school assignment. It's fun to do ( and I got an A for effort! ). You can get super creative with ordinary summer objects.

Or pick up some frisbees, enough for every guest of course, and write your invitation messages on each and toss them out!

Beach ball invitations are also fun. Again write the invitation letters right on the balls!

Make sure to state a dress code, RSVP and other essential information on your party invitations.

Remember that an eye catching invitation is much more funny and excitable than a plain old phone call or a paper and pen invite.

There are tons of fun activities you can have for your sweet 16 beach party theme.

Have a wet and wild beach party!

Grab your friends and play a game of water balloon volleyball! Blow up several large water balloons and have a splashing good time ;)

Have a goofy flipper race with your friends! Buy a bunch of big yellow flippers from your local dollar store or wal mart and race you friends! Each opponent must carry a big bag of water balloons throughout the race. Throw the water balloons at your opponents to lighten the load! Winner get a cool prize.

What would cause a glass outdoor table top to explode spontaneously?

Q. This happened a couple of weeks ago and when we found it the glass was shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces and was making a crackling noise. There were no sudden changes in temperature and it was not struck by any type of missile.
Very strange!!

Answer
Even without a sudden change in temperature a glass table top could "explode", especially if it was fitted or held in place with screws or other structures that ran through holes in the glass.
Assuming it was a glass/metal table, heating (by sunlight) could have caused differential expansion of the glass and metal. This could have caused the metal to expand in the screw-holes and crack the glass.
Another process that may have happened (and both may have happed simultaneously) would be for the table or table top to expand in a way that put tension on the glass table top.

Glass is a "fragile" material (this is the technical term, not the common one). A fragile material cannot deform, so if the tension exceeds the material resistance it cracks (sometimes in a spectacular way, as in your example).
The opposite of "fragile" is "ductil", a material that is able to deform under tension (like metal). Within limits, the material is able to deform and return to its original shape (like a rubber band). Above that limit the material deforms permanently, like a crushed Coke can.

The fact that the glass pieces were "crackling" suggests termal expansion caused tension in the glass past its resistance limit and it cracked. Because there were no previous cracks or defects in the glass (i.e., weak spots) the whole piece suffered sudden "catastrophic failure" (another technical term from materials science). Once the tension released, the broken pieces were returning to their original configuration macking the crackling noise.
This is a bit like the sounds you can ear from ice when you drop it on your juice glass. Sometimes you also get the ice cubes to crack.

Help with outdoor fabrics...?

scorpiowom

I am repainting a metal outdoor table and recovering the seats of the matching chairs. I really want a black and white pattern, but all the outdoor fabrics I am finding are either just single colors or they are ridiculously expensive and have to be special ordered. Are there any treatment products out there to use on cottons or other fabrics that might work or any online resources for ordering cheaper outdoor fabrics?

Answer
I had a bistro set with 4 chair seats I wanted to recover inexpensively. I bought a large (52" x 120") vinyl-coated fabric outdoor table cloth for less than $12 (it was either at TJ Maxx or the sale bin at Pier One) and cut the covers from it. I had more than enough left over to make matching placemats, too. The fabric seemed to hold up well to weather and sunlight. (don't know for how long -- I sold the set after 2 years.)

I've also covered outdoor cushions with just regular fabric. Drapery yard goods or even fabric shower curtains are cheap sources -- I've even used brightly printed bed sheets (that's what is covering my porch couch right now.) I wrap the cushions with plastic first, so they won't soak through if the chairs get left in the rain, then put the fabric covers over that. They can be removed and machine washed.

If you have a choice, pick polyester or other fabrics instead of cotton or nylon. Poly is more resistant to dying so the dyes that are used for polyester tend to hold up better to fading in the sun. It also resists staining and mildew better than cotton or nylon, at least in my experience.

You can also get a paint-on or spray tent waterproofing liquid at some large camping good stores, but it will tend to discolor some fabrics and it really does not make them completely waterproof.

Serious Question! HELP! (Kinda long...sorry)?

Audrey P

So...me and my boyfriend have been of and on for about...5 and a half months, and we're really happy with each other. The first time me and him broke up, we saw different people and I thought I got pregnant by the other guy. Turns out I didn't, and I was devastated. Now, I am only 16 and wishing I had a baby. The main reasons are because I like babies, I love the attention from being pregnant, and I want a baby sooo bad. Please don't tell me, "It's too much for your age." I have that part handled...thanks. Now, I have asked my boyfriend to give me a baby...of course he said no. And I said, we could live with my mom who has money, a house, and a job with no children living with her. But he still refused. And I don't know how else to tell him...I really miss the feeling of "thinking" I was a mom and I don't know what to do now...and I will NOT trick my boyfriend by telling him I took my birth control when I didn't. Please help.... :(

Answer
I am 17 years old. I tried to conceive when I was 16, and now have a beautiful 10 month old daughter. HOWEVER, I got implanon and the doctor didn't insert it correctly and now we're pregnant again! Girl, it's not all it's cracked up to be! Trust me, it's your motherly instincts kicking in. If you follow through with it, you will resent the father of your baby. You don't have a life, you live your baby's life. You HAVE to work. Most of your friends WILL abandon you. At first they'll visit you in the hospital, then like a puppy, it gets old and the excitement wears off. Get a new puppy or something and be maternal over it. The feeling never goes away. With my baby and new pregnancy, I am thinking of getting us a dog for safety reasons and my maternal instincts. You will probably need government assisting. Just because your mom has money, etc etc DOES NOT mean she'll help. My dad makes 10k A MONTH because he owns his own business. He doesn't help me do squat. AT ALL and I'm still legally his responsibility. There was a girl in SC (or NC, don't know, don't care) who found being a mother at 16 was too much, stabbed her baby, and put it in her closet. It's not something for teenagers. I don't regret my decision because that's like saying I regret my daughter, BUT I do wish I would have waited, and her dad is a complete dead beat so that doesn't help. Your boyfriend is actually very smart.

You want a baby. You want to wake up soooo many times at night, that you get delirious and you fall asleep holding the bottle in your baby's mouth. Or changing your baby in the middle of the night, and their tummy hurts and they squirt poop all over the changing table, crib, and the wall, and all you do is cry. Its also SUPER awesome to need help from the government. Which reminds me, attention from being pregnant? About 75% of the attention I got was NEGATIVE. And after having my baby, having my vagina stitched up, I needed help at a store getting a different size bra so I didn't have to walk across the damn store again, and the lady told me they weren't allowed to do that after I heard her do it for someone else 3 times. The same person...WHILE my 3 week old was screaming her head off.

Babies are not puppies. Or pets. They're HUMANS and last a lifetime! A LIFETIME! How many friends do you have that you've been friends with forever? Like honestly. ME? none.

Try working, go get a job if you don't have one. Work all the time. Who will watch your baby? Deal with rude people just to make money for you and your baby. I don't make enough money...We both have government health insurance, I pay my own car insurance, and buy diapers and not only that, I turn 18 in a week and am going to get section 8 and food stamps JUST so I can get away from her terrible father. That's with FREE childcare. I barely get by. I don't have a phone. I don't have a computer. (I'm on my sister's while she's at camp.) I don't know how I'll survive college.

After you have a baby, you have a never ending period, or so it seems. You bleed HEAVILY for 5-6 weeks. Thats only a vaginal delivery...C-sections are absolutely horrible. Then you get stretch marks - cocoa butter does NOT work, stretch marks are part of your dermis genetics. Pregnancy messes up your body so bad.

What are you going to do when (and trust me, it happens to EVERYONE) you're out in public and your baby is in a cute little outfit and he or she poops up their back and YOU have to clean it? No one helps you with that. No one wants to. YOU are mommy. YOU feed, rock, bathe, etc etc for them. Graduate school. I did before I had my baby and it's the best thing you can do. Go to college. Get a stable life. You have only 3 years left of being a teenager...after that you have a lifetime to have a baby. I promise. This is coming from the bottom of my heart, someone who WAS you, but my boyfriend at the time was too big of an idiot to say no to me. If you follow through, you'll be in a similar situation to mine in a year or two, talking to someone who sounds completely ignorant on yahoo answers. I promise you.

This is REAL LIFE, not an MTV show. It is SO HARD, it's nothing like I expected. You'll find out whether you have a baby now...or later.

Where can i get the audio technica 2020 mic stand?

Rover

i bought a regular mic stand and i dont know how i can fit my audio technica microphone on it
or where can i just buy that little piece that connects both my mic stand and the mic?

help please
thanks in advance

Answer
Cheapest solution is this generic mount on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Mic-Shock-Mounts-Holder-Audix-AT2020-4033-CX112-02-/300455987817?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f4928a69

A more reliable one is the Samson shock mount, which also fits the AT2020:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LQLDM2?ie=UTF8&tag=mntlkhmpg-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B000LQLDM2

With the default piece that should have come with your mic, you will have increased noise and rumble in your recordings, versus a shock mount that suspends your mic to prevent transmission of noise through the table/floor.

is this suv a good buy?

Joey

i've wanted a suv my entire life i grew up around them, i got my license this year and was givin a 96' chevy lumina, im now gonna sell this car for around 2,400 and im trying to find a dependable suv. i found a 96' chevy blazer all black with tinted windows and 167,125 miles for 2,250 would this be a good purchase considering my lumina only has 70,000 miles?

Answer
Sell your Lumina on eBay. Low mileage used cars are always in high demand.

If you want an SUV, get the Honda CR-V. A '97-'98 costs under $3000 and you get a dependable, reliable SUV that gets 30mpg. It even has a built in picnic table and the seats can be folded down to make a queen sized bed. Great for camping!

We often see things in shops priced at £99.99, £199.99, etc?

CDA

Today I saw, in a garden centre, an outdoor table plus 6 chairs priced at £999.99 (I am NOT kidding).
Can anyone go better than this, with 6 nines in the listed price, (or dollars too - $9999.99)? Car, boat, caravan, etc? Anyone seen such a price? How moronic can this nine-obsession get?

Answer
It would be better if there were 9 chairs

What kind of outdoor toys do you have for your 1-2 year old?

N and A's

We have a fenced in backyard and Noah will be 1 in April so I'm sure he'll be out and about back there often this summer. I'm stuck on what sorts of toys to get for him. I've been looking on Craigslist for a slide/climber of some sort and have found some cute ones.

People have asked what to get him for his birthday and I'd like to give them some ideas. Trucks and balls have already been thought of. What does your little one play with outside?
LOL, Alia's mom, I can so see Noah doing this too.... It's going to be a long summer of "Noah, don't eat that!"

I forgot a pool, duh! Thanks ladies.

Answer
What about a sand box, my son loved to drive his trucks in the sand. Sand toys.
Water table, they are great!
Swing, slide, which you already mentioned. You can put the slide in the pool, thats fun. Toys for the pool.
Sidewalk chalk
bubble machine. big hit!
Bouncy house, big hit here. they arent that expensive,$100-200 but worth it and will last for years if you take care of it.
Little tykes baseball tee. by summer he will be able to hit the ball, if not already.
A ride on toy, you could get a small motorized one, my son had a 4 wheller, it is a perfect size for a 1-2 year old.
If you are planning on staying in the home you live in now for a while, a nice wooden swingset is a fantastic investment, worth every penny, but expensive.
One of the plastic houses, we got ours like 4th hand, it is old and still looks new. I would buy one second hand. my sil got one on Craigslist for $25.
Gardening tools, Water can!..my kids love to water...anything.
A tent. my daughter has a girraffe tent, we use it inside and outside.
Small chair for outside, with a table or a picnic table for lunch and snacks, coloring, painting and messy stuff.
A shed to keep everything in...lol.
Oops! the #1 favorite outdoor toy of my sons was his bubble lawn mower. he used it for 3 years. we would bring it everywhere, he liked to mow everyones lawn..kept him busy for a long time.

Interior design - can I use light wood and dark wood together?

Jeremy

I live in a fairly new flat. Most of the furnishings are light wood (light beech) including all doors, kitchen cabinets, hallway flooring. I've recently bought dark wood (chocolate) blinds for the living room and tv cabinet. Can I mix the two colours in the living room? I don't want to overwhelm the living room with too many dark furniture pieces and I also want to try and tie it into the rest of the flat.

Is light wood mixed with dark wood a big no, no - or can I pull this off somehow? I was thinking of perhaps getting a beech coloured coffee table and a few beech shelves?

Advice appreciated!!

Answer
Yes, you can definitely mix both colors of wood. We often use both dark and light color wood combinations in custom flooring. They have to blend well or "match" each other, but other than that, have fun and let your creativity loose!

Spare room: mattresss, heap of egyptian statues and frames on walls, white bedside table, and a lounge I need to recover. I need to buy a bed frame, doona, and recover a lounge. We were thinking gold and black to make an egyptian themed room?

Study: beech and charcoal office furniture (hutch, desk, side desk, filing cabinets, book case), black office chair, a lounge to recover, degree in a timber frame. Was thinking beech, charcoal, and aqua?

Then theres also the kitchen and just sort of an "area" where theres two couches to be recovered. I don't know what to recover them with....

What's the best time to get married on the beach?

tinacake9

Planning on getting married at Laguna Beach, actually on the sand.

Answer
Actually, this is the best time of year to get married. You have a better chance of clear skies. As you get into May, June, and early July, you might just get socked in by fog (SoCal residents, you should know this!)

By Mid July, the fog is pretty much gone. However, Laguna can still get hot, so I would either recommend an early morning wedding, or a sunset wedding. That's a toss up. Early morning will mean less crowds, easier parking (and that's a biggie!), but a sunset wedding is muy romantico. Also take into consideration the Pageant of the Masters and the Sawdust Festival happen in mid-summer. LB gets wicked crowded during those times.

As for sand fleas, they aren't bad in Laguna.

Definitely check the tide tables, that will really help.

Here's hoping you have an extra special day. Congratulations

Where are the cool beaches in California?

J*LO

I am going to San Francisco in 2 weeks and after which I would like to chill out at the beach somewhere in Cali. Where would be nice? Santa Barbara? Laguna? Monterey etc etc. Appreciate any suggestions...

Answer
The best beaches are in the San Diego Area. Laguna is for posers & perverts (my opinion), Santa Barbara has too many uptight people with children & issues, Monterey is on the cold side, although it does have a great Aquarium called The Monterey Bay Aquarium. Northern California Beaches tend to be colder than the Southern California Beaches. You could have a nice drive to a half-way point like Pismo Beach. Check your tide tables & try to avoid extreme high tides & lookout for jellyfish & sting-rays that come out at certain beaches.

How much would a wedding on the beach cost?

ladedadeda

I want to have a wedding on the beach of California.
How much does a permit cost ?
And I just want it to be my fiance; our 2 best friends; and our parents; and our siblings. So about 10 people.
We need seating; decorations; invites&thank you letters; candles; the cake; flowers; carpet; the reserved beach; the rings; and the dress; and the tux.
thanks!! :)

Please don't tell me one number; please say how much each one will be!
Thanks :)

Answer
Which CA beach? I live in Huntington Beach & had originally planned to do our wedding here in Orange County. We went to Hawaii instead but I did quite a bit of research before making that decision. I ask which beach because not many allow seating. In my area, only Bolsa Chica State beach allowed it & that's the beach I live on which isn't particularly nice or scenic. Laguna beach allows no seating even if you do it cliffside they won't allow chairs on the grass. So, go to the City website for the beach you're thinking of & clear that up before proceeding. The website should also list the cost of the permit.

Around here $150 was pretty standard for the permit. Also keep in mind parking difficulties. Just FYI. The permit doesn't necessarily allow you to "reserve" the beach because they're public areas. They just give you the permit to allow it but that doesn't mean people can't be walking around in the background of your ceremony or photos.

You can rent plain white plastic chairs for about $1.95 each & have a family member pick them up. Just look up party rentals & you'll find sites that rent all sorts of different chairs, tables, etc. for your price point.

Decorations? A bit vague. You could go all out with real flowers or you could tie some frilly stuff to the chairs you know?

Invitations you should print at home using card stock from Costco or Staples because you only have 10 people. Postage will cost maybe $5 and the same for the thank you notes. For that few people you can also find standard thank you notes at Target. Candles are cheap. You can get a bag of tea lights at Ikea or Big Lots for like $6 for 100.

Cakes in SoCal can run anywhere from $3.95 per slice to $10 per slice & above. It just depends what baker you choose & how elaborate you want this to be. Once again just a little vague so I couldn't give you a round figure.

Same with the rest of the stuff. Rings, dress, tux, that's all up to you. You can get a dress for $300 at Jessica McClintock or David's Bridal or you can fall in love with one that costs 3k. Rings too. That's up to you, your personal style & your budget. My set was $1600 plus the diamond which was around $1,000 so $2,600 for that but they sell simple bands for a few hundred if that's what you want.

Autumn decoration suggestions?

Crazybird

Over the past year, we've decorated our apartment pretty beach-themed. Now that it's autumn (my favorite time of year), I'd like to add some autumn-y decorations, without horribly clashing with the bright blues and greens and artwork that's pictures of the beach and palm trees. I have a ton of decorations (little stuffed pumpkins, table cloths in oranges reds and yellows, leaf table runners ect...) Any suggestions on how to add those decorations in would be much appriciated!

Answer
Inspiration:

http://fineartamerica.com/images-medium/autumn-beach-toni-grote.jpg

The colors blend very well!

Use the colors in candles, throws and decorations

Brown rocks can be thrown in with a little orange pumpkin and tie an orange or auburn ribbon around a blue or white candle.

the artwork unfortunately will have to stay, but to avert eyes off of it, put a small table on the wall underneath if if you can, and make it an autum focal point with pumpkind, leaves and candles on a nice opaque plate

Add shimmer to help blend in the pillows and ribbons by using golden, orange or silver toned ribbon or pillows.

Incorporate natural wood and rustic textures to give a beachy feel as well, use a dark wooden bowl or plate to place your pumpkins, seashells and candles on.

Make a beach themed wreath using starfish, seagrass and fall colored leaves and acorns

fill an old seashell with orange spice scented candle wax

Read any good books lately?

PH 1

What horse books have you read lately?

Doesn't matter if they were on training, a famous horse, fiction, etc.

What did you read and what was your opinion on it?

Just finished "A Pony in the Picture" not that it was a hard read :P and I'd say it is the perfect coffee table book for any horse lover.

Trying to get through "Naked Liberty" but the writer is an awful writer. She has a learning disability and I respect her overcoming that to write a book, but in turning down the assistance of professional writers, she's put out a book that is difficult to follow and make sense of.

"Dark Rider" By Kathrynn Dennis - Total historical romance CHEESE centred around horses. I would say that THIS is the perfect beach book. LOL

camp wedding ideas. affordable and tasteful?

Katie

Answer
Masion jars are great for a camp wedding theme. You could surve drinks in them, use them as vases or you could put little tea light candles into them too.

When I think about camp ideas wood also comes to mind. Make wooden wedding signs or buy them online. Instead of using your traditional table cloths for the tables use sheets instead. They would look so wonderful on the table. You can custumize the sheets too buy sewing them to fit each table properly.

Someone suggested a campfire on here.Well why not have smores at your wedding reception? The kids would love it! You could also make printable coloring pages for the kids too. Or you could do a camp word search for the older kids.

Have your cater make food that you would normally have at camp. You can still make the food look elegant and taste good. If your getting married and having your reception at a camp then hang up lights in the reception hall. That would look so awesome at night. I also suggest you do a DIY photobooth. Why not get silly at your wedding reception? You could buy camp things like a hat, maybe a shirt or some silly masks that could guest could use for props for a DIY photobooth.

Are Brown people mad because?

Mrs apple.

they have no one to cheer for at the 2012 Olympics? Brown as in Latino, Hispanic, Spaniard, Mexican, Peruvian, etc. The Olympians are predominately white and black.
It does not matter if you have white skin. You still look like a brown person.
Falcon7, but you never hear about them since the whites and blacks overpower them.
Even if Spaniards have white skin they still do not look white therefore, I called them brown.

Camping at Gebhard Woods State Park, IL?

Fenerli

Has anyone been camping at Gebhard Woods State Park? We're planning on going there -- Please keep in mind that I'm not that big of a camping person...thanks for the info

Answer
Camping

Primitive tent camping only: gear must be walked (1/3 mile) to campsite, no vehicular access. Fire rings, picnic tables, and grills are located in the camping area. A drinking fountain and pit toilets are located within a short distance from the camping area. A camping permit must be obtained from the information center which is open daily 10am - 4pm.

They also have fishing, boating, hiking trails, bird watching, and more: http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/PARKS/I&M/EAST/GEBHARD/PARK.HTM

Best lightweight camping chair options?

Q. Looking for something really light weight with a backrest and legs that can support itself. I've seen the GCI PICO Chair (10 lbs.) and Quick-E-Seat (4.5 lbs.) which are both nice, but I'd like to get the weight down a bit more if I can. I've seen the Alite Monarch Butterfly Chair (18 oz.), but I would prefer a freestanding chair you can use in the typical way. Also trying to avoid stadium style chairs as you're basically sitting on the ground and they are of no help at a table. Thanks.

Links for chairs mentioned above:
http://www.integrityoutdoorbrands.com/directors-chairs/pico-arm-chair.htm
http://www.integrityoutdoorbrands.com/camping-stools/quik-e-seat.htm
http://www.alitedesigns.com/monarch-camp-chair-5
I would like to also be able to use this in a backpacking scenario, which is why I'm concerned about weight. Thanks.

Answer
The answer is the old aluminum chairs with the plastic webbing. There is a company making them, calling them retro, and charging $29.95. Better to find them in a garage sale. The ones with the continuous tube legs won't sink in on soft ground, any chair with the post style legs tend to sit unevenly unless on very firm and level ground. They have arms and you can lean back and put your feet up on a rock/log. Problem is they weigh just over 3 lbs. I only carry them on shorter trips (less than 20 miles) or when I expect everything to be wet. On the longer trips I carry a stadium type chair made by Hexalite, cost around $35. It's a big improvement over the inexpensive ones you commonly find. With it I can sit on a rock as small as the seat cushion itself and when properly adjusted it will give me firm back support, much better than any I've tried before.

I need money for summer camp!?

Q. I want to go to some really cool summer camp, but the only thing is it's a crap load of money ($4000). How could I raise som money so when I talk to my parents so I could put some money up to the table. I'm 14 and don't have a job, but I am a really hard worker and can do anything I put my mind to. KEEP ALLNEGATIVEE COMMENTS TO YOURSELF!!

Answer
You can work hard, or you can work smart, as they say.. Sounds like you're doin both. You should be an entrepreneur as career option lol. ^ ^

1. have a garage sale- make sure you ask mom otherwise itll make her mad to see the things she spent money on being sold for nothing. If you do yard sale, google yard sale tips because it can get crazy. Its like running a cash register while being security! An easier way to do this might be taking pictures of things you want to sell and post them on craigslist.com
2. Print out a cute "Moms Helper" flier with lists of things you'd do (clean gutters, mow lawns, wash dishes, vacuum, tutor younger children, play ball with younger kids or animals, etc, etc) be sure to add you're open to suggestions and add the reason why onto your flier at the bottom. People are more willing to give you work/their money if they know its for a good cause. Get mom or dad to help you word out a good flier. Pass them around neighborhoods wherever you go. Make sure they're not too cheesy in case your friends find them. Or enlist your friends for a quarter of the profits and the jobs will go faster allowing you to do more jobs. If your friend gets upset about only taking a quarter of the profit, explain to them that without your part in finding the work they wouldnt be making money in the first place. Besides- youre the boss. Or maybe you can return the favor and help said friend with jobs they find, get their entrepreneurial gears going. Be sure to keep track of wherever you go and always let your parents know in advance as there ARE people out there who could put you some serious hurt you jsut need to avoid.
3.love the other posters selling candy idea
4. clean cars
5. bargain with mom and dad, see if theyll match what you earn towards your camp trip.
6. Once you get going, set goals for yourself each week on how much you want to earn that week. This will help motivate you.
7. ask google! - found soo many interesting websites on the topic, I got all excited about figuring out how to use the amazing tool that has streamlined all of human technology into one database- the internet!
So far, the most interesting ones are zazzle.com and locationary.com
Good luck and remember, if you dont make camp this year, you can do it next year. Summer camp aside, you really have no idea how good just getting into the spirit of finding creative ways to make money is.

What beach resort in Cavite, Philippines would you recommend?

m3L

Preferably the MOST AFFORDABLE yet AWESOME.
Thank you!!

Answer
There are no beach resorts in Cavite that can be called AWESOME. Not even its top 2 beach resorts Puerto Azul and Caylabne, both in Ternate. And because these are both high-end, neither is in the category of AFFORDABLE.

So we limit our choices now to "affordable", considering that there is none we can call awesome. The best in this lot is Villa Excellance in Tanza, Cavite. The beach is good enough for swimming, although the water quality is not as goos as those in ternate, Tanza being closer to the polluted Manila Bay. But good enough, if you are not very finicky.

They have accommodations that are decent. You can grill your meat and fish right beside your cottage, while you and your friend are having fun singing, drinking, in the small veranda in front. Or you can choose to go to the videoke place within the resort.

You may also just want to rent tables with shed near the shore. There are hundreds of these in Villa Excellance.

They also have a store that sells most everything you will need. Shirts, water, drinks, even fish and meat to cook.

Finally, if you prefer to swim in a pool, they have a huge pool. Entrance to the pool is, however, separate from the entrance fee to the resort itself.

You won't need directions to Villa Excellance. Just go to Tanza and every Tom Dick and Harry can point you in the right direction.

Place to go camping east coast?

maria mole

I am looking for a good place to go camping in the east coast, around north Carolina, Georgia.... Beautiful places, nature, waterfalls, etc.... Any suggestions?

Answer
I can't wait to go camping at *Edisto Beach State Park*. SC has some great state parks; we love them. And Edisto Island is my absolute favorite beach. It's quiet, uncrowded and clean, lots of shells and sand. Not tourist-y at all. The state park has beachfront improved camp sites (though they book up VERY fast) and another site across the main road under beautiful oaks with tent sites too. They have a great bike/hike trail (about 4 miles long I believe) that winds through the tree canopy and over the marsh.

We're also putting *Devils Fork State Park* on our list. http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/photo-gallery/default.aspx?ParkId=1355 The lake beach with the mountains in the background is beautiful and there are couple falls nearby. *Table Rock* is another popular state park. And we heard from a friend that *Huntington Island* is another great state beach park. This the state's most visited park and it has an historic lighthouse you can climb. They even have direct sewer hookup if you're going RVing. I've not been but she says it's much closer to "civilization" than Edisto, which is pretty secluded.

I love the Highlands area of NC, esp in summer. The temps are very cool, air is light, very pretty area. You might find some campgrounds around there, maybe near Franklin (Dillard, GA is close too). We camped a couple falls back in Brevard, NC, which has lots of area waterfalls. And the NC area around Boone is very pleasant, imo, though I'm not familiar with any specific campgrounds there. We try to stick with state, national and Corp parks because they seem to respect nature the most. So many private camps are becoming more asphalt and less shade - not my idea of camping.

spontaneous camping legally in CA?

Blah

my friend and i want to backpack somewhere along the coast for the day and camp there for the night ("primitive camping") but we don't know where we can legally do this near santa cruz without making advance reservations (so ridiculous)...im mostly worried about having a permit so that my car doesnt get towed or anything like that

Answer
There is first come first serve camping at:

Butano State Park
Pescadero Creek County Park
Castle Rock State Park

You will need to register when you park. At state parks you generally self register with cash in an envelope.

Also, depending on your definition of "primitive" camping, you may be disappointed. Nearly all backpacking campsites in the Bay Area have picnic tables, trash cans, potable water, and outhouses. Castle Rock is the only park in the Bay Area that allows camp fires at backpacking sites, and only when it's not fire season.

I want to glue pictures to ceramic tile and grout in onto a cement table to put outside. Any ideas?

jhebert

Answer
glue the picture that you like to the suface of each tile, then use a multiflex thinset to adhere to the concrete bench. (ultraflex II is great, available at lowes.) grout 24 hours after the last tile is set, then i would paint a coat of varnish or shalack over the entire surface to protect the pictures and grout. good luck.

Please help me with this history "project"?

I have read this so many times and i dont get it at all please help me its for a grade!!! please please please

Part 2: This part will be submitted as 01.03b Archaeology and Anthropology Part 2. Because of your expertise in archaeology, you have just been asked to assist with the assessment of a recent find for a new exhibit at the Museum. Unfortunately, your observers at the site only have access to a fax machine. They have faxed you the following description of the site:

*

This site was discovered outdoors in an uncovered area.
*

The site includes a circular concrete object 3' 6" high and 5' in diameter, with a base underneath which connects to the ground.
*

The circular concrete object has another concrete object of much smaller proportions on each side of it.
*

The two smaller objects are 1 and 1/2' high, 5' in length and curved in a half-moon shape.
*

Each of the two smaller objects also has an extension underneath that allows the object to rest upon a flat area made up of red bricks.
*

The red bricks cover a space of 20' by 30'.

These artifacts were found at the site:

*

Two small square objects with a thin wax coating. The objects have small spout openings with a strong smell permeating from the interior.
*

Three cylinder shaped metal objects small and light enough to hold in one hand. Ants are crawling inside and out of each object.
*

One hard-paper covered object containing hundreds of individual slices inside. Pictures, writings, and maps are on the slices.
*

One additional hard-paper covered object containing individual slices with numbers and writings on each of the slices.
*

One soft, crumpled, paper object with a small amount of rose coloring.
*

Five metal objects with jagged edges secured on a small metal ring.

Now that you have read the information provided by your observers, the Director has asked you to come up with your own hypothesis concerning this site. Please note, this assignment requires you to use your imagination. There are no right or wrong answers in your identifications, as long as you provide a logical hypothesis including each of the objects. Your presentation is very important. You should record your findings and submit answers to the following questions in a report to the "Director of the Museum."

Items that must be in your report:

*

An answer to the question, "What is a hypothesis?"
*

An assessment of each of the objects. Identify what you think each object is.
*

A time period associated with the objects.
*

The name or type of site you are viewing.
*

An answer to the following questions:
o

Were the objects at the site left by people?
o

If so, how many people were present?
o

Can you determine the gender of the people?
* A suggested scenario or story representing how the objects were left behind. Be thorough, logical, and creative.

Answer
What we found is a 20' by 30' patio with a concrete table and two 5' benches. We found 3 beverage cans, two milk cartons, a geography book, a math book, a tissue, and a set of keys. It appears that 3 students were there in a time when concrete outdoor tables were used. Probably in the 50's and 60's when milk was still sold in wax covered cartons. It is our hypothesis that this was a study area for students. This hypothesis is a conclusion based on the evidence we observed.

fun place to go to in cocoa beach FL??

CINDY
