There is a style of Amish dining room tables where there is a bench on one side of the table, chairs on the other side, and a shelf built into one end of it. I can't find a picture of one anywhere because I don't know what the style is called. Can anyone help me?
That one is really close, except the one I'm talking about have the bench and the shelf built into the table itself instead of the wall.
Answer
I believe that it's a Banquette seating
Here is a picture , let me know if that's the one

What was a rich dining room table like in the middle ages?

Driftwood
How were guests seating in dining room tables during the middle ages and what kind of decorations and festivities that went along.
Answer
The dining tables were made from marble and weighted a tone, they were also long enough to seat at least 20 at the head table, (just like if you go to a wedding and you see the bridle table).
All the other guest would then sit along carved wooden benches and would sit according to their wealth. upper class would be seated at the front and lower class were forced to be seated at the back.
Servant's were never allowed to eat in the dining area and had to wait until the meal had been eaten and cleared before they were allowed.
If you watch any Harry Potter movie's and see how they were seated then this is how it used to be done, money was power and with power came respect.
