can anyone recommend a place to stay at table rock lake near branson, mo?

riley l.

Answer
Many people will probably tell you, Chateau on the Lake, but really I think that place is more fancy name than fancy place. If you're staying for an extended time, why not try a condo?

They've also opened a Hilton Hotel at the Branson Landing, which I hear is nice.

I would say if you want a nice place, don't stay at any hotel that right on Highway 76. Most of those are little po-dunk motels that bank off their convenience to the strip. (The second Web site has some lodging listings near the lake.)

Staying on the lake itself, I think you'll do well with a condo, or even camping... if you're up for that.

Where in Missouri is good for camping and activities?

My husband and I are 30 and 26 respectively and our anniversary is coming up in a few weeks. Considering I have been laid off we need to keep the celebration modest, but would like to do something. Any ideas besides the obvious free way to celebrate an anniversary :) ?

Answer
Located adjacent to Table Rock Lake and near Branson, Mo., one of the hottest tourism spots in the United States, "Table Rock State Park" offers easy lake access and is a short drive to area attractions and entertainment.

Where can i find a large outdoor patio table with solid, sturdy legs?

jc

All of the tables i've found are hollow metal and poorly made. They bend too easily and don't stay perpendicular to the ground. Need indoor dining table quality, but weather proof and big. Thinking marble or granite. Any suggestions?

Answer
If you are looking for solid sturdy outdoor table, maybe you can consider buying these 3 kinds of patio table, Iron patio table, teak patio table or wood patio table with stone leg.

First and second type of patio table you can find it on eBay, Amazon and other online store. The last one, you need to customize desktop and stone leg in different place.

If you do not have space to store your patio table, and you do not move your patio table often, you can consider buying a large waterproof outdoor patio furniture cover to cover your patio table when you not use it.

Outdoor patio furniture covers could keep your patio table from dust, rain, bird droppings and so on. It will decrease times of cleansing for you.

How do you weatherproof an indoor coffee table for outdoor use?

J E

I would like to use an "extra" coffee table outdoors. Has anyone weatherproofed an indoor piece of furniture for outdoors and how did you do it? Thank you!!

Answer
Use outdoor varnish, and make sure you cover all the table, as moisture can ruin wood as well.

describe your dream house?

soulsista

mine would be a beach front property,180 degree view of the ocean, with walkout balcony from master suite and off the living room, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, with jacuzzi in the master suite, sunken living room with fireplace, see through fire place in master suite that warms bathroom, huge kitchen with the sub-zero fridge, ceiling high windows, game room, theatre room. theres more, but i want to hear yours:)

Answer
It would be the house I lived in until I was almost 13 years old, with a few adaptations (such as insulation and wi-fi).

It's a Tudor style house, with a beautiful front door & peephole. It had a nice-sized coat closet off the front hall. The livingroom was good-sized, and it had a diningroom with built-ins in the corners. The kitchen had a breakfast nook, also with built-ins. The fridge was one of those ones with the freezer on the bottom, and it had a pedal that, when stepped on, opened the fridge door. Upstairs, there were four bedrooms... really three, but my tiny room was originally a sewing room. The master bedroom was away from the other bedrooms and included a bathroom (normal now, but not in older homes); it had two closets and a built-in storage unit. It had a nice-sized attic. Oh, and there was a 2-car garage. There was a laundry chute, and a full basement with a nice playroom. In modernizing it, I'd move the laundry room from the basement to the closet of what was my bedroom... my poor mother had to haul all of the laundry up two flights! I'd also add a hot tub outside the playroom, and modernize the "playroom" for grown-ups, maybe add an airhockey table with a ping-pong table to go on top. And a good area for tabletop gaming!

What are the types of restaurants and how many?

Amanda O

Answer
Historically, restaurant referred only to places which provide tables where one sits down to eat the meal, typically served by wait-staff. Following the rise of fast food and take-out restaurants, a retronym for the older "standard" restaurant was created, sit-down restaurant. Most commonly, "sit-down restaurant" refers to a casual dining restaurant with table service rather than a fast-food restaurant where one orders food at a counter. Sit-down restaurants are often further categorized as "family-style" or "formal".

--Fast food restaurants : A common feature of fast food restaurants is a lack of cutlery or crockery
-- Family style: restaurants that have a fixed menu and fixed price, usually with diners seated at a communal table such as on bench seats. More common in the 19th and early 20th century, they can still be found in rural communities, or as theme restaurants, or in vacation lodges. There is no menu to choose from, rather food is brought out in courses, usually with communal serving dishes, like at a family meal.
-- Casual dining: a restaurant that serves moderately-priced food in a casual atmosphere. Except for buffet-style restaurants, casual dining restaurants typically provide table service. Casual dining comprises a market segment between fast food establishments and fine dining restaurants
--Fine dining: is a phrase used to describe restaurants that create a serious dining experience. The experience can start with the location and the view. The interior of such restaurants is often purported to be quite elegant and designed in accordance with the restaurant's concept. Service attempts to be impeccable, with chefs and service crew typically hailing from the best culinary schools.
Restaurants fitting the fine dining label are normally highly rated; in the four star range and will provide more nuanced service and more expensive food than a standard sit-down restaurant
--fast casual restaurant: is a type of restaurant which is similar to a fast-food restaurant in that it does not offer full table service, but promises a somewhat higher quality of food and atmosphere. It is a growing concept to fill the space between fast-food and casual dining.
--Brasserie, bistro, pub: In France, a brasserie is a café doubling as a restaurant and serving single dishes and other meals in a relaxed setting. A bistro is a familiar name for a café serving moderately priced simple meals in an unpretentious setting, especially in Paris; bistros have become increasingly popular with tourists. Mainly in the UK and other countries influenced by British culture, the pub (short for public house) today serves a similar dual menu, offering beer and other alcohol along with basic food fare. Traditionally, pubs were primarily drinking establishments, whereas the modern pub business relies on food as well, to the point where gastropubs are known for their high-quality "pub food".
--Dining car:is a railroad passenger car that serves meals on a train in the manner of a full-service, sit-down restaurant. While dining cars are less common today than they were in the past, they still play a significant role in passenger railroading, especially on medium- and long-distance trains.

Where are good and cheap locations/restaurants for a wedding reception in Orlando?

sarah

My fiance and I are set to be married Mid-September in the Lake Buena Vista area in Orlando. Following a private family ceremony we were hoping to book a restaurant that could accomodate around 30 people, and could hopefully give some sort of group rate with a set menu. We would like to keep the location within a 30 minute drive from LBV. Additionally, our budget is minimal. Anyone have any ideas?

Answer
Hmmm, this is kinda tough as you haven't really described how much "minimal" is. So, I'll take a stab at it, and see what you think of these ideas.

Consider these locations in the following order, from lowest to moderately priced:

TURKEY LAKE PARK (3 exits from LBV). Consider reserving a pavillion (it's around 50.00 - 75.00..not sure). This includes the long bench/tables & large grill. There is a entrance fee for each car, however the bridal party can consider pre-paying this for their guest (around 4.00 per car)...the front gate will maintain a list for your party).

If you like BBQ (food is really good and a real budget pleaser) try BUBBALOUS BODACIOUS BBQ on Kirkman Rd & Conroy Blvd (only 5 minutes from Turkey Lake Park).
For 30, you may be able to keep within 200.00 to 275.00. See the Manager Joe, he can set you up, and he's "right on the money" re: quantity of food you'll need to order and he's really good about working within your budget.

Re: the park, you'll need to have 2 bags of instant light charcoal (use the grill as a heating element for the food);
rolls of paper for the benches (Bubbalous provides all of the plates; plasticware; wet naps; napkins you'll need).

If you like British food, consider CRICKETERS ARMS ENGLISH PUB & EATERY at Festival Bay Mall. Food is good, inexpensive, and it is a very casual and quaint British Pub, with a good ambiance for a casual style wedding. they also offer live entertainment. (however, if you're covering any cost of alcohol, that's where you may end up with a very expensive tab at the end of the night).

FRESCO's ITALIAN RESTAURANT. They have an area in the back of the restaurant that they can block off for you special occasion. You can probably arrange for a pre-set menu. (Restaurant is located just north of Sand Lake, in the KMart center.....tucked in the corner).

(Personally, my husband and I have always had very good experiences there [food and service], however I've heard pros and cons from other....FYI). Average pasta dish is around 15.00 - 17.00 and above for meat entrees.

BUCCA DE BEPPO at the Florida Mall, for a party of 30, you may be able to get away with spending between $425.00 - 475.00 (includes setting up your menu [ within budget] soft drinks & tip....guest orders and purchases their own alcoholic bev's) (We ordered 3 large pasta dishes; 3-4 large order main meat entrees; 2-4 vegetable dishes and there was still enough leftovers for guests)

If you can arrange for this location (of this list, it's the most expensive for a moderately priced restaurant) consider ANTONIO'S on Sand Lake & Dr. Phillips Blvd.. It's a really top notch restaurant operation. They do have a private rooms and areas. It's a white table cloth place, however a very reasonably priced restaurant (considering quality of food & service). My husband and I have had their summer pre-set menus for only 23.00 per person. It included appetizers; entree and desserts. Portions were big! Service, exceptional. They've had many good reviews.

If this is something that works for your budget, I'd recommend ANTONIO'S. Contact the manager to see if they're able to create a preset menu (include soft drinks & tip) for your event (30 is not a big party) with a "No host bar" (meaning guests purchase and pay for their own alcoholic beverages).

I hope this info helps you out (I'm just sharing some of our own personal experiences with when we had to arrange for groups/parties/special occasions...and with these locations)

Do you have any tips on camping with a 7 month old?

Answer
Camping with a baby just means bringing lots more stuff. We camped with friends of ours several times over the last few years and they started with the oldest one at 3 months! What I've learned from them is that

babies will sleep quite happily in the pack and go play pens.
A bouncy chair is great fun in the grass.
Bring the swing chair if your child likes it!!
Put up a tarp for constant shade
Keep BBQ away from where you will be sitting, put it up high so baby can't pull it down (it was stone cold and just a small hibachi but could have been much much worse)
Anything you wouldn't leave on your coffee table at home also needs to remain in the totes if you are not using it. (2 year olds are fast and sneaky and camping stuff is new and shiny)
have a fan that you can either plug into the car or run on batteries in case it gets really warm (also helps to keep bugs away)
an electric cooler (one that you run from the car for 3 hours and then it stays cold for 8) works great
Don't let the car run out of gas or battery die!!!
Bring twice as many diapers as you think you will need (especially if breastfeeding or if baby is starting on eating off your plate, what you eat when camping is so different than normal that baby's system might get a little off)
know where the closest hospitals and walk in clinics are, make sure the camp site is serviced by 911 (learned that their second child is severely allergic to certain bug sprays - she wasn't sprayed with it but was held by several people who were wearing it and she got the most awful rash and was having problems breathing - that was scary!!)

Basically pack everything you could ever need for the baby and use common sense. Always keep the baby in arms reach. If you can enjoy a vacation like that then go for it!

We plan on going camping next year when our little one will be around 8 months and I'm not worried at all except about where we are going to rent a big enough trailer to bring everything with us!!

Camping at Pinecrest?

Shelly H

What are some activities that are fun to do with friends while camping? Any good camping stories? Good camping pranks to play on friends? Traditions? We are going camping at Pinecrest Lake this weekend.

Answer
The whole area is like a huge summer camp for everyone so I'm sure you'll have fun with your family.

"Pinecrest Lake is located 30 miles east of Sonora on State Highway 108. The Lake lies in a timbered setting at an elevation of 5,600 feet. The California Department of Fish and Game regularly stocks Pinecrest Lake with rainbow trout. Groceries and other services are available nearby at the Pinecrest commercial center.

Pinecrest summer visitors enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, camping, fishing, picnicking, interpretive programs and biking.
* http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/stanislaus/summit/biking.shtml
* 300 camp sites with tables, grills, flush toilets and piped water in 2 campgrounds (Pinecrest Campground and Meadowview Campground)
* 3 group sites with tables, grills, fireplaces, vault toilets and piped water in 1 group campground (Pioneer Trail Group Campground)
* Day Use Sites: Pinecrest Boat Launch; 50 picnic sites with grills, flush toilets and piped water in 1 picnic area (Pinecrest); Designated swim area. No dogs allowed in Day Use Area (between Pinecrest Lake Road/Pinecrest Avenue and the boat launch and the fishing pier) from May 15 to September 15.
* Fishing (accessible fishing pier)
* Hiking: Pinecrest National Recreation Trail, a 4 mile hiking trail around the lake; Paved pathways connecting points of interest."

There's also the resort with activities: http://www.pinecrestlakeresort.com/Activities%20in%20Pinecrest.htm

Here's a story and some traditions:
"August is the month my family makes its annual escape to Pinecrest Lake, a pretty little jewel north of Yosemite. We've been carrying on this tradition for decades, and now my own children jump into the cold water just as I used to, heart willing and teeth chattering.

As lakes go, Pinecrest isn't particularly spectacular, and it isn't even large enough to allow waterskiing. Nevertheless, when I read our cover story on best lakes (page 86), I thought of Pinecrest because it's the setting for so many of my best summer memories. I caught my first fish there (a brown trout I carried back to camp clutched in my hand after my brother took off with the creel). Made old-fashioned peach ice cream and roasted marshmallows. Learned to drive my uncle's outboard, and did more bailing than sailing aboard the Suzy Q his ancient wood sailboat. When I think of summer, I think of these pleasures at the lake...."

I actually caught my first trout here too, and just thought of it after reading this story. Here's the pic: http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z106/yahooanswersimages1/PINE1.jpg

Activities for cow-boy camp?

Q. I'm thinking of doing a "Cow-boy Camp" for kids (boys AND girls) ages maybe 5-8. The times would be from 9am to 12pm. I need some ideas for snacks, games, crafts, that type of thing??? Here's the plan: DAY 1: Their parents sign them in. They each get a cowboy hat. We give a peppy talk about hoe much fun we'll have and the rules. We give them these cute horse-shaped sugar-cookies to eat and let them run around for a bit (it's to be held in a big field). We play a game with these cut out horse heads and some ropes in which they lasso the "horses". Then they each get a fairly large card-board horse to color. We run around and play horse, cowboy-ish themed games and say bye-bye. DAY 2: We read them a cute story-book I have about these dogs who are cow-boys.If we have any extra time, we'll read the sequel in which they're astronauts. :D.Then we each give them a mini horse head on a stick(available at dollarama for $2). We then have them play tag on them. We feed them pop-corn. DAY 3: We take them to Lester's Farm!!! That's a farm close to us. They provide free carrot tops and stuff to feed them. We get back and feed them baked beans (from a can) and and some chicken nuggets, as they'll be HUNGRY and let them run around. :D. DAY 4: We have a REAL cowboy day. A GIANT cowboy adventure based on the book (see day 2). The leaders will be in costume. It's not scary, so they'll LOVE IT!!!!!!! DAY 5: FAMILY DAY!!! We show the parents some of our activities, we play some games, at noon BBQ hot dogs and burgers, and have pop and chips, and THEN we watch Toy Story and Toy Story 2 (the day will last untill 3pm). NOTES: We have a limit of 15 children, and 2 leaders, as well as 2 backround adults(50+) . We punish with things like time outs. ALSO: What would be a good price? Both leaders are baby sitter certified and have YEARS of experience, although they are only 16-25-ish. $75 per child? Including expenses, I mean. Thanks!!!

Answer
Snacks:
-Trail mix. (check with the parents for any allergies as most trail mixes contain peanuts. I'd have a second snack on hand this day just in case anyone is allergic.)
-Horse Snack: Use mini shredded wheat (hay bales) Cheerios (oats) Dried apples (apple treats) Candy corn (corn). (could possibly be used as the alternative to the Trail Mix.)
-Mini hotdogs.
-Star shaped cookies (with yelling icing on them) that look like a Sheriff's badge.
-Pretzels. Sometimes you can find pretzels that are shaped like a Wheel.

Games, crafts, and activities:
-Cactus Rodeo. Check at a party store for a big blow-up cactus. Get some hula hoops and have the kids try to throw the hula hoops over it.
-Have them come in their best Cowboy/Cowgirl outfit one day and teach them a line dance to some country western music.
-Snake in the Boot Game ("There's a snake in my boot" - Toy Story quote). Have the kids stand on a hay bail (or something similar like a chair, etc.). Give them 3-5 little rubber snakes and the goal is to drop as many snakes in the boot as you can.
-Make these Western picture frames as a craft. I've heard they're a tad tricky for younger kids, so be prepared to help out. I'd make one or two ahead of time so the kids can pass it around and see how to do it. http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/browse/processRequest.do?demandPrefix=12&sku=48/3563&prodCatId=388814&mode=Browsing&erec=5&Ne=90000&sp=true&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode%2bmatchallpartial&N=388814&tabId=2&requestURI=processProductsCatalog&sd=Western+Photo+Frame+Magnet+Craft+Kit OR http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/browse/processRequest.do?demandPrefix=12&sku=48/5058&prodCatId=388814&mode=Browsing&erec=12&Ne=90000&sp=true&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode%2bmatchallpartial&N=388814&tabId=2&requestURI=processProductsCatalog&sd=Horse+Photo+Frame+Magnet+Craft+Kit
- Target Game. Divide into 3 teams. Put coke cans (I'd wrap them in bandanas to make them look more Cowboy-ish) on a table (3 on bottom row, 2 on middle row, 1 on top) and give each team a watergun. Let each kid have a turn at shooting down the cans.
-Beanbag throw. Divide into three teams. Set a cardboard box about 12-15 feet in front of the kids. (try to find some type of Cow-print wrapping paper or bandana-like wrapping paper to wrap the box in to add to the cowboy feeling.) Get some beanbags (probably at a party store) and have fun.
-Spread out a couple of bales of hay, mix in a large quantity of wrapped candy or small toys, and let the kids search through it to find the treasure. Note: This makes a good outdoor activity. If you don't want to rake up the hay, put it on a tarp to make for easier cleanup! No eating the candy until they get home though, as they may be allergic to something in the candy!
- http://www.thethomasranch.com/thomas_ranch_106.htm has some printable cowboy coloring pages. Bring some crayons and give the kids 10 minutes or so to pick a page and color it. Print off several copies of each page. And I'd only give them the option of he easier/less-detailed pictures. OR there is a picture of a cowgirl on a horse, print that off and the girls get that picture and the boys get the picture of a cowboy leaning against the fence or the cowboy doing the lasso . That way there's no argueing, tantrums, or disappointment if the paper they wanted ran out.

As for the family day, Toy Story 1 and 2 might get boring (and long/time consuming) for the parents. And if the parents have younger children who can't sit still that long, it might get hard to manage. I'd let the kids watch Toy Story 1 in the morning by themselves, before their parents arrive. Just scrap Toy Story 2. Also, for the field trip day (to the farm), four young people keeping track of 15 excited kids might be a difficult task. Ask if two parents would like to come along to help. Also, if you're not renting a bus, they may be able to help with transportation. And I'd get rid of some of the "run around and do whatever" time because the parents are paying you quite a bit of money to do something fun with the kids. The kids could just "run around" at home for free.

$75 if a fair price, but only if you cut out the "run around" time. Also, I'd do a discount rate if they sign up siblings. (Like $75 for the first child, and $60 for second, and $55 for the third or something).
But 15 kids isn't exactly alot of children, I'd do 20-22 kids unless you are uncomfortable with that.
Make sure you guys get emergency contact numbers for the parents when they drop the kids off on the first day.

What do you learn in army vs marine boot camp?

Lynn I

whitch do you learn more stuff/skills in? Like compass or map reading or navigating or any type of survival? or first aid.Whitch has a better hand to hand combat?and whitch ones better trained

Answer
I can tell you some of what I think is different. Maybe someone in the Army will give some input to confirm or deny.

Marines teach water survival, I don't think the Army teaches it to all soldiers. Special Forces would receive this type training and more.

Marines have a known distance marksmanship course which ranges from 200 to 500 yards for marksmanship. You also must pass a Table 2 test which is short distances including multiple targets and moving targets. I think the second part is similar to the basic Army marksmanship.

A couple of years ago, the Army quit teaching hand-to-hand. They still teach 10 hours of Modern Combative Arts. Since this course was developed by a former Marine it is similar to the Marine Corps' old LINE martial arts. The Marine Corps now teaches an aggressive program called MCMAP. All Marines are also required to achieve level one MCMAP during their first year at their permanent duty station. Infantry Marines have a higher requirement. The Marines teach a separate hand-to-hand course with bayonets.

Land Nav and map reading is not taught in Marine Corps boot camp, it is taught in School of Infantry which you attend after graduating from boot camp. I don't know if the Army teaches this in BCT, I would think they teach it in OSUT.

If I say which one I believe has the best training it will just start some crap.

The real training starts after you graduate from boot camp.

Picnic table?

bjmargetic

I have to write an essay on picnic tabels. it sounds really boring huh? so anyway i need information on the history of picnic tabels so if you have any answers that aren't about how boring this assignment is they would be greatly appreciated

Answer
here you go....( and I hope this helps )

Picnic Tables (or sometimes a picnic bench) is a modified table with built-in benches on both sides of the table that is for the main purpose of eating a meal outdoors. It is not documented when the first picnic table was used but legend has it as early as the late 1800's, picnic tables were used in public gathering places throughout small towns.

Originally, all picnic tables were made of cedar, pine, and other hardwoods. Over time, both the residential picnic table and commercial picnic table have been made from everything from commercial-grade plastic, PVC, steel, aluminum, recycled materials, and plastic coated metal.

A common picnic table can be constructed using 2'x 4' or 2'x 6' hardwood - standard stud size. To assist in making the picnic tables last over time, wood sealers, stain, or traditional paint has been used before or after construction is complete. Since most hardwood will crack, warp or rott, protecting the wood is highly suggeste to extend the useful life of the picnic table.

Traditionally, picnic tables have a simple construction plan - the table-top and bench-top boards are attached to the trusses or beams using rust-proof wood screws or galvanized nails. The legs are typically secured by using commercial grade carriage bolts fastened by nuts and washers. This helps make the overall frame of the table stable and solid so that it will stand up to heavy outdoor usage.

Outdoor seating ideas for coffee house?

People keep stealing our furniture outside. What is the best way of making something that people can't steal? We don't have a lot of money.

I was thinking of making a cement table. Bags of cement are like $7. Make staked frames out of wood and perhaps chain the chairs down. Will this work? Any better ideas? Where's some nice looking moderately priced outdoor furniture? I looked at Targets stuff and it's total CRAP plastic junk for like HUNDREDS of dollars!

Thanks for the help.

Answer
You can buy concrete round tables and benches. I see them at outdoor places all the time. Find a local concrete dealer who makes those and birdbaths, etc. They may be available at Home Depot, etc. Or look in the yellow pages.

What are some good camp pranks?

MZH

So I am going back to sleepaway camp for a few weeks, and need some good new pranks to pull. Some information:

The boys and girls cabins are separate, but still relatively close. I am a boy, BTW. When pulling pranks, we cannot go into the girls cabins at all, and the pranks have to be relatively clean. The girls and boys bathrooms are separate.

Thanks.

Answer
shoes. Hell will break out in the morning when people will start hunting for their shoes. This prank can be pulled on the entire group.
â¢Take a paper cup and fill it with all kinds of weird things that you find like dust, paper bits, etc. and attach a long string to it. Keep this paper cup on the top of bed where it is not visible and leave the string loose. An unaware person will want to pull the string to check what is it and you can have a laugh when the contents fall on him.
â¢You can even pull traditional pranks like painting a person's face when he/she is asleep with different and artistic designs. You can make use of make-up like lipstick or mascara, or even face paint for the purpose.
â¢You will find that duct tape is one of the most useful equipment in any of the ideas for camp pranks. When a person is sleeping, you can tape his hands and legs towards the sides. Using the duct tape to stick the person's hands to his face will really make a amusing sight.
â¢You can even try simple but funny camp pranks like cutting the ends of the socks and keeping them neatly in the shoes of the person. When the person wears the socks, they will reach to his knees and you will have fun seeing them caught unaware.
â¢Exchanging toothpaste with shaving cream, bathing water with ice water, etc. will also create amusing situations. Create a mess in someone's room or bed with leaves or twigs. You can even put pillow feathers, talcum powder or water on top of ceiling fan blades. When the person turns on the ceiling fan, he will be showered with the contents and the look on his face will definitely make you laugh.
â¢Typical pranks for counselors are to put tar on his doorstep, to sneak in his room and hide his shoes and socks, or paste sticky notes on his car.
On my grade 8 end year trip we went camping. The girls wanted to get the boys good. So what they did was made brownies and put x-lax in them. The boys were eating them all the way to the camp. When we arrived at the camp, we hid all the toilet paper and plastic wrapped the toilet seats! It was a weekend to remember..

Another prank we did to someone else was to put catfish bait in a glass of water soaking in the sun for a day. We then were able to spray the catfish juice on someone's radiator so when they would turn the heat or air conditioning on they would smell the sweat stench of catfish.
Revenge Camping Prank

Okay- here's one for revenge. It would be best to do this somewhere where the person you are pranking cannot get another pair of clothes-like camping for example. What you do is get a container of Bleach and put a bunch of hair in it and leave it there over night. Next morning, drain it and chop the hair real fine... and it becomes itching powder!!! Put it all over the other person's clothes!!!!

Funny Camping Prank

This is for all the camping people out there. Okay if ya'll go camping with alot of friends this practical joke is totally for you!! Get some bright red lipstick and put it on somebody's lips. Then put lip marks all over someone else's face that is of the same sex and sort of smear some lipstick on their lips. Take photos if you can!

We also rigged booby traps by putting webs over each bunk and when they hit the strings, down would come talcum powder, mud, pancake syrup, or other stuff which we put in big paper cups.

Summer Camp Mess Hall Practical Joke

While at a summer camp one time some other girls played this prank at the mess hall over night. They turned all the tables upside down and removed all the chairs, and put the stacked in all of their dorms. They then hid all of the silverware as well. When we walked in to eat breakfast in the morning we had to sit and eat on the floor with our fingers! The worst part is we were having cereal!

Cabin Lockdown
tie a rope around their doorknob and around a post on the cabin porch. They are locked inside & can't be able to move out of their cabin!
Other ideas:
-Glue the first few sheets of toilet paper so it will not unroll. :)

good part of central park to have a birthday party?

labohemian

what's a good part of central park to have a birthday party? like with benches or picnic tables etc.? also if it was rainy the day b4 a good area that's sheltered. one or the other.

Answer
A birthday in Central Park sounds like a good idea.

A great place for a picnic is on Great Hill in the north part of the park. There are picnic tables and it has a very friendly atmosphere because there is open space but if you move a little closer to the trees, you can feel pretty cosy.

If its a children's party, the Ancient playground is awesome and challenging for older children (say 8+) and has a cool picnic table area with the added bonus of chess and checker tables. There are no garbage bins though so you have to take your own out with you.

Cedar Hill is very pretty and airy. There are no picnic tables (to my knowledge - I may be wrong) but there are good boulders that would be suitable for laying out food. It is nice, but if you're going to be loud, there are often readers and sunbathers here that may be annoyed.

Cherry Hill and Wagner Cove are two of my fave places and the cove does have a small shelter. Don't count on it to provide shelter for more than 7-8 people though.

As for somewhere with a substantial shelter, your best bet for functionality and views is the rustic wood shelter on Dene Rock and is rock underfoot, so no soggy grass. Take the time to go check it out, you might love it. The valley extends from East 66th Street to East 72nd Street.

All of these places would be great, but on a warm, sunny day the picnic tables will fill up fast. In a city of millions upon millions of people, it might pay to set up camp very early in the morning (for lunch) or to hang around like a buzzard until the lunch crowd vacates (for dinner).

Have fun!

Wedding Place Cards?

bnschult10

I am looking for a uniquie, elegant, creative, some kind o fway to do our wedding table place cards. That aren't extremly expensive or anything crazy just for place cards? We are having a beach wedding, with our reception indoors, but still near the beach and will be have the whole thing a beach theme! Any ideas, suggestions would be great thanks!

Answer
What you could do is go down to Michaels or another craft store in your area and pick up some plain white placecards (I got about 50 of them for $2.50). Then you can get a bag of seashells and a hot glue gun. Glue the seashells at the top corner of the placecards. I think that would look cute - and cheap. Most craft stores have the seashells. If not you could check out this website. They have an assortment of seashells for a very good price.
http://www.islandweddingshop.com/page/IWS/PROD/beach-table-accents/s6912
Either that or you could use sand dollars as placecards, but those might be a bit more pricey.

I hope that this helps! Good luck! â¥

I'm looking for unique ideas for our place card table. ?

Erin M

We're having the place cards on a table outside the ballroom (it will be set up in the cocktail area). We wanted to have a unique idea for placement of the place cards or a different idea for how guests can pick up there cards. Any suggestions??

Answer
Do you have a theme to your wedding?
I saw one that was really cute for a beach themed wedding. They had a little sandbox on the table and they used shells for the placecards. They put the shells in the sandbox and it looked really cute.
Maybe you could set up a tree, like in this picture, but figure out how to attach the placecards to the tree:

Or like this:

If the wedding is around christmas you could always hang them on the Christmas tree like ornaments.
Here are a few pictures that I've seen that might give you some good ideas as well:

nice beach in Long Beach?

chelito191

im taking my wife for the first time down to L.A. and i wanted to take her to Long Beach but i wanted to arrive around sunset anyone know a good beach to watch it

Answer
If you love your wife don't take her to the beach in Long Beach. We have some of the most polluted beaches in California.
The Palos Verdes Peninsula and the port cranes block the sunset view anyway.
I do recommend going to Founders Park in Palos Verdes for a very romantic and pretty park to watch the sunset. They have picnic tables you can sit at and unlike the park benches in LBC the homeless haven't been sleeping on them. The address and link for the park are below.
The pier in neighboring Seal Beach is another good place to watch the sunset.

Best *quiet* beach near San Francisco?

Brande M

My husband and I are coming to SF/Marin County in early April and would really like to spend some time on the beach, but want to avoid crowds. We don't really plan on swimming (shark paranoia), just wading/sunning/picnicing, so depth of water or surf quality isn't really an issue. Sand (as opposed to rock) would be nice.

Any suggestions?

Answer
China Beach is one of the most uncrowded beaches in San Francisco. It's a small beach with great views (especially of The Golden Gate Bridge), and is a nice place to relax. The beach has restrooms and picnic tables. Lots of free parking. It's located at 490 Sea Cliff Drive in San Francisco. The sunsets are spectacular with the Golden Gate Bridge right in view.

Camping tips?

My mum and dad are going camping this weekend for two nights. It's my mum's first time, and I don't think my dad's been in over 20 years. Does anyone have any last minute advice I can give them, things to take, things to do, etc so that they'll think I'm a genius, and also so they don't come home early and ruin my plans.

If it makes a difference, they're going on a camp site with toilet facilities etc on site. And they're taking the dog with them.

what type of van has a table and a bench that folds into a bed?

robert

i thought it was called a turtle top, but i guess i was wrong.

Answer
There are a whole bunch of van conversions that have tables that turn into a bed. In my opinion I think that Lazy Daze Van and RV conversions are the best. You can sleep two people on there table/bed and be real comfortable.

A table saw kit where you use a portable circular saw upside down?

I've searched everywhere, Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ebay, Craigslist, and I can't find what I am looking for. Does anyone know a brand name or a website that sells a folding table that has a slot for a blade and all you do is take your portable circular saw and clamp it to the bottom, and you have a table saw! My farther-in-law owns one and he bought his at Kmart at least a decade or so ago for $50.00. I've been searching and searching and I don't know what you would call it or where to buy one. It would be a great tool to have. So any links or idea of what its technical name would be or if you have one to sell, please, you help would be appreciated! Thanks!
(And please don't answer, Ebay or anything like that, if your read my question, I have already looked)

Answer
I don't think they make those anymore because they were dangerous, since the under mounted circular saw would loosen up from the underside mount. A portable bench saw is more or less the modern version of this idea, a circular saw mounted under a small table, but mounted in a more secure mount. If you need more table space you could buy portable table extensions for the a portable bench saw .

Or you could try the newer versions of this that concept with the skil-xbench .

budget wedding and reception. need opinions. open for new ideas as well.?

MyrtleBeac

I found cheap invitations on vistaprint.com. My dress is $300. Wedding will be on the beach ($25 permit cost, no other fees). The only decorations on the beach will be a runner, and a small table for the sand ceremony. We might rent some folding chairs, otherwise it would be standing only. My uncle can marry us for free. My main concern is the reception. We have considered getting a beach house for our families to stay at for the week of the wedding, and just having a backyard BBQ/pool/beach party for the reception, but the house that we want is $6000(which our families would HELP, but not pay for entirely, since they would be staying there) for the week, plus we would have to pay for the food and decorations (which would be minimal). Otherwise I can try to find a location for the reception with a caterer (we are thinking cheapest buffet option available) and our families would have to pay their own lodging. Which would be the cheaper (and less stress) option? I am willing to consider other options as well. It is a beach theme, and our colors are blue, black, and white. Ideas for decorations and wedding favors are appreciated as well

Answer
My advice:

The beach house is a good idea, but ONLY for a vacation....not for a reception. $6,000 is a LOT of money and that does not include food, beverages, etc. This is not an inexpensive reception.

Look at other venues that include catering. Try to NOT have the "cheapest option" (as you say) if you can help it. Limit the guest list, and you will be able to afford more as far as food goes. The thing that I remember MOST about weddings is if the food was good!

If your guest list is small, you can also look a private rooms of restaurants.

If you are on a budget, forget the favors. This is a total waste of money in my opinion and are NOT needed.

I need help with colours and accessories for my home.?

we have a single story 3 bedroom house. we like earthy colours, but maybe with a dash of brightness here and there. so far our choices have been mostly incongruous and our curtains are weird as is our sofa, since we can't figure out how to get the "dash" of brightness. anyhow, our walls are off-white, so taking it from there, we need help with curtains, cushions, bedcovers, tableclothes rugs and accessories. should i do the whole house in two colours? would it look weird if i did each room in a different colour? what about prints or flat colours? (yes we are quite at sea!)

Answer
Well patterned curtains are great for injecting colour and style, similar to a feature wall it is also great if you have a neutral colour couch and walls as you can now and again change the theme of the room eg from blue to green accents, with rugs I would definitely say to invest in a good quality one, of course it wouldn't look weird doing each room a different colour so long as you do it to your style.
Sea is a great theme you can get so many beautiful photographs and paintings of beach scenes and a really good idea is to get a vase and a large candle with sand at the bottom such as these:

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_aVVJ9_zOsgrJurFaWeRiP141j7OEuWpGscrELpNG3Ophb-ds70XZeWNX0900WE-jJmjhb7hFlMiJvojH6G83wE0jHC3xbjj243ErnD09LPaeJu1-9bN4bykWrqZ-szepb8YdLkxXSwA/s1600/P1010043.JPG

http://pics.boards.weddingbee.com/12336.Votive_Sand.jpg

both of these examples are from wedding centre pieces but I have them either side of my mantelpiece and it looks great and creates a great atmosphere when lit.
Also for other room a lamp shade/ lamp fitting can create a great impact on the room. I have discovered that table runners and how great they are, they leave the rest of the table to be easily wiped clean and the runner still looks great

I hope you have a great time decorating
xx

Which geologic material would be a better aquifer, unconsolidated gravel or conglomerate rock? Which geologic?

sportman16

material would be a better aquitrd, unconsolidate clay or sandstone rock?

Where is the water table exposed on the earth's surface?

Answer
OK, an aquifer is generally a porous substance (lots of open spaces), so:

which is more porous, the rock or the unlithified gravel?

The second is a bit trickier, because both materials are relatively non-permeable and thus may be aquitards. However, the rock can have fractures and bedding planes whereas the clay won't.

For the third question, think about an open, hand dug well. What is it like in that well where it intersects the water table? Ever dig in the sand at the beach and hit the water table? And then connect your little pond to the nearby lake?

The water table is exposed on earth in pretty well any body of water, although there are exceptions of course (a water body can be disconnected from the water table but usually isn't)

Rivers or lakes for swimming in missouri?

JordynB

Me and a couple friends are wanting to go on a day trip to a river or lake to hang out and swim maybe. Were in st louis so any place within like an hour of here would be great :)

Answer
There are a number of rivers that have float trips by canoe, kayak or inner tube. Like the Merrimack.
Check out the state parks near st louis. Many of them do have beaches. Mark Twain, Table Rock and Truman all have beaches.
