Answer
depending on which island you're on i can give you advice for two....

Oahu----- i highly recommend that you not stay in Honolulu....but do visit and experience it once in the day and once at night(they have entertainers....i.e. gold man silver man money man and when i went there was a college student dressed up like a panda....all want your money but it's a rele good photo opportunity.the college student took pictures with kid but he needed money for college) if you like oriental food you can't get any closer to Asia in Hawaii....a rele good restaurant is the Golden Phoenix 429 Keawe St
Honolulu, HI 96813, US and another one was Pearl City Chinese Restaurant 803 Kamehameha Hwy # 203, Pearl City, HI
808-455-1066

but there are other things to do....you must rent snorkeling gear and go snorkeling at three tables....down the road is shark's cove(don't worry)

free up one day and just drive around the island don't worry about getting lost you'll find awesome stuff the worst thing to do in hawaii is be a haole(white tourist who took the native's land away for them) talk to the local they're rele nice experience the culture

then go to the far side of the island and go on a glider ride you'll get a perfect skyline of the ocean and mountains....at dillingham ariport(mr. bill's origional glider ride...)PO Box 626
Waialua, HI 96791
(808) 677-3404

and honestly the only thing i did when i was on the big island was go up in the mountains to the volcano do that at night and during the day...but i recconmmend that you go during the night at first so you can compare and contrast the difference....it's amazing.... and if you get a chance check out the black sand beaches....and if you're a hiker you can also get to enjoy one of the only GREEN sand beaches but it's either a 5 mile hike or you need a REAL off roader.... and i'm serious it's not a pretty little path ....uneven

just throwing you my two sence

Waikiki Beach?

Guess

I'm going to vacation with my family in July and we are staying at the Hyatt Regency Hotel by Waikiki Beach. Is that a safe beach to swim in and play in? Also is the area safe for kids (15, 16)? General information about that area is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Answer
Waikiki Beach is one of the safest beaches on Oahu. And has a whole lot of activities for people of all ages.

Waikiki Beach is a legendary tourist zone on the south shore of Oahu in Hawaii: a 2-mile sweep of surf and shore below Diamond Head.

What's special about Waikiki Beach:

Waikiki Beach is the most-developed tourist area in Hawaii, with:

* rich history
* beautiful sea, and views of Diamond Head
* perfect surf for beginners, and good surf year-round
* a loveliness that persists even with concrete and high-rises

Waikiki Beach History:
Waikiki Beach has been inhabited since Polynesians arrived in these islands, and has seen much of the tumult of Hawaii's history: warrior kings, whaling ships, terrible epidemics, displaced Hawaiians, a deposed Queen, and of course tourist development starting over a century ago. Two venerable hotels still sit on the beach: the Moana Surfrider and the pink Royal Hawaiian. Around them tower high-rises, and Kalakaua Avenue-- by Waikiki Beach-- is busy with shops and restaurants.

Yet Waikiki Beach is still a lovely place. Dozens of surfers play off-shore all day. Kalakaua Avenue's winding wide sidewalk is dotted by pools, fountains, statues, and snippets of history on surfboard signs. Beachside Kapiolani Park has walkways and picnic tables.

What's special about Waikiki Beach for families:

* many family-friendly hotels including suites and affordable choices (see below)
* sheltered beach with breakwater (Kuhio Beach area)
* great sand for castles
* beginner surf lessons for kids
* convenience of familiar fast food brands
* close to Waikiki Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium
* look for the four "Wizard Stones". ( Read about their legend.)

Three fun activities:

-Walk the wide sidewalk along Kalakaua Ave., pose your kids for a photo by the statue of "the father of modern surfing" Duke Kahanamoku (who revived this ancient sport of Hawaiian royalty), digest a little history from surfboad signs along with your favorite ice cream from Kalakaua's shops. You can walk to the Honolulu Zoo or Kapiolani Park.

-Splurge on High Tea at the Moana Surfrider: a classy hotel with a period-style verandah that faces the sea and a spectacular century-old banyan tree. Yes, tea: no mere drink but a ritual done in full British colonial style but with a kids' menu too. (And kids can go play and still be in view.)

-Take in local events that give concrete Waikiki a human face:

* "Sunset on the Beach" at Waikiki Beach's Kapahulu Pier: the beach becomes an outdoor movie theatre, with food booths, free movies on a giant screen, other entertainment
* "Brunch on the Beach": once a month, traffic stops on busy Kalakoa Avenue by Kuhio Beach, and the street becomes an outdoor cafe with delicious food by island chefs, at bargain prices; entertainment, too.

who has had the opportunity to travel to hawaii ?
how was the trip? i really hope to travel to hawaii .sometime.
well just curious from what people thought who got to vistied.thanx.

Answer
I have had the greatest pleasure traveling to Oahu Hi with my husband and our son. We three have been there six times and have stayed at the Pacific Beach Hotel four out of the six times.
We have never been to any of the other islands, but there is the Hawaiisuperferry now, so we might get on that on our next visit and go to either Kauai or Maui. Just to see what they are like.
The trips were fantastic!! Diamond Head in the movies and then to see it for real in person is a site to see!!
The rainbows are just drop dead gorgeous, while the wift of plumeria flowers send their sent along with the tradewinds while you listen to Hawaiian music!!
The Navatek 1 Sunset Buffet Dinner Cruise is fantastic!! The vessel runs soooo smooth that you can carry your plate to the table without a mishap!!
And nothing can compare as to hearing "Blue Hawaii" from the Elvis impressionist at the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel!!
Need I say more???????
I love Hawaii and the people that I have had the pleasure to meet!!

Places to get Engaged?

Mike Paige

Can you name three nice places of witch I can ask my Girlfriend to marry me. She knows its coming but doesn't know when.

Answer
Congratulation! I think its so romantic when two people knows they belong together. Now you want 3 places so you can take your girlfriend and ask for her hand. I do not know what state you are in, but my number choice is the island of Oahu. Yes that is my hometown and Hawaii is the most alluring, romantic place a girl can get engage. But if money is the problem, (I know plane ticket) you can pick a beach, take her and make sure the two of you will have dinner for 2 away from people or crowds. Second place could be a dinner cruise, 2 hours of being in the water having dinner during sunset. And the 3rd will be the old fashion way if you wanted it, plan a night with her, at your place. Put together a romantic dinner for two, with lots of candles lite, soft music, maybe with wine? To add more love with that dinner you will put together, scatter red roses petals all over the floor where you will set the table for two and from there you will know what to do. Reminder please, no cell phone, no tv, only soft music..Good luck!
