Long Beach to Laguna Beach Wedding Locations?

Jessica

I got engaged in August:) We were originally planning on having our wedding in Laguna Beach in early August '09, but now I'm not sure, I'll be happy to have it any time next summer. I've just become so frustrated with trying to find a place to have it. My parents don't have alot of extra money, neither do my fiance and I, so if you know of any wedding ceremony/reception sites that are affordable...please let me know!!

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer!!

Answer
I have a place that might work. It really all depends on your budget and what you want and how many people.

I was married at Hotel Laguna. It is one of the smaller older hotels on the beach. You can get married on the beach (no permit required private beach) or in the garden, and have the reception there. They have 4 different rooms to chose from depending on the size of course. We really liked them due to the reception hall over looked the beach and had a small patio that lead to the beach. So our guest could talk a stroll down the beach under the stars.

They of course cater it, and have several package deals. All included wait staff, tables, chairs, liens, dishes, bar tender, coordinator, and your suite for the night.

The staff is wonderful and the food very good. Talk to Damon go on a walk thur with him. He is the head coordinator, he always calm and make sure you are calm and on time and things go right!

If you have any questions or would like more detail email me.

Best wishes in all your planning.

Where can I go in southern California to be at the beach and at a park at the same time?

Lilit

I'm looking for a beach which has an adjacent park for BBQs, etc.

Answer
Heisler Park in Laguna Beach is on a cliff just above the beach.

It's fairly small, with just a handful of picnic tables
and barbeque grills.

Traffic in Laguna is pretty bad - especially now (July/Aug)
with the art festivals in full swing.

You might find something to fill your bill at Huntington
or Newport - those are much bigger beaches.
I think they have fire pits in someplaces, and there
might be some barbeque spots, but I'm not sure.

What's the best time to get married on the beach?

Planning on getting married at Laguna Beach, actually on the sand.

Answer
Actually, this is the best time of year to get married. You have a better chance of clear skies. As you get into May, June, and early July, you might just get socked in by fog (SoCal residents, you should know this!)

By Mid July, the fog is pretty much gone. However, Laguna can still get hot, so I would either recommend an early morning wedding, or a sunset wedding. That's a toss up. Early morning will mean less crowds, easier parking (and that's a biggie!), but a sunset wedding is muy romantico. Also take into consideration the Pageant of the Masters and the Sawdust Festival happen in mid-summer. LB gets wicked crowded during those times.

As for sand fleas, they aren't bad in Laguna.

Definitely check the tide tables, that will really help.

Here's hoping you have an extra special day. Congratulations

Where are the cool beaches in California?

I am going to San Francisco in 2 weeks and after which I would like to chill out at the beach somewhere in Cali. Where would be nice? Santa Barbara? Laguna? Monterey etc etc. Appreciate any suggestions...

Answer
The best beaches are in the San Diego Area. Laguna is for posers & perverts (my opinion), Santa Barbara has too many uptight people with children & issues, Monterey is on the cold side, although it does have a great Aquarium called The Monterey Bay Aquarium. Northern California Beaches tend to be colder than the Southern California Beaches. You could have a nice drive to a half-way point like Pismo Beach. Check your tide tables & try to avoid extreme high tides & lookout for jellyfish & sting-rays that come out at certain beaches.

How much would a wedding on the beach cost?

ladedadeda

I want to have a wedding on the beach of California.
How much does a permit cost ?
And I just want it to be my fiance; our 2 best friends; and our parents; and our siblings. So about 10 people.
We need seating; decorations; invites&thank you letters; candles; the cake; flowers; carpet; the reserved beach; the rings; and the dress; and the tux.
thanks!! :)

Please don't tell me one number; please say how much each one will be!
Thanks :)

Answer
Which CA beach? I live in Huntington Beach & had originally planned to do our wedding here in Orange County. We went to Hawaii instead but I did quite a bit of research before making that decision. I ask which beach because not many allow seating. In my area, only Bolsa Chica State beach allowed it & that's the beach I live on which isn't particularly nice or scenic. Laguna beach allows no seating even if you do it cliffside they won't allow chairs on the grass. So, go to the City website for the beach you're thinking of & clear that up before proceeding. The website should also list the cost of the permit.

Around here $150 was pretty standard for the permit. Also keep in mind parking difficulties. Just FYI. The permit doesn't necessarily allow you to "reserve" the beach because they're public areas. They just give you the permit to allow it but that doesn't mean people can't be walking around in the background of your ceremony or photos.

You can rent plain white plastic chairs for about $1.95 each & have a family member pick them up. Just look up party rentals & you'll find sites that rent all sorts of different chairs, tables, etc. for your price point.

Decorations? A bit vague. You could go all out with real flowers or you could tie some frilly stuff to the chairs you know?

Invitations you should print at home using card stock from Costco or Staples because you only have 10 people. Postage will cost maybe $5 and the same for the thank you notes. For that few people you can also find standard thank you notes at Target. Candles are cheap. You can get a bag of tea lights at Ikea or Big Lots for like $6 for 100.

Cakes in SoCal can run anywhere from $3.95 per slice to $10 per slice & above. It just depends what baker you choose & how elaborate you want this to be. Once again just a little vague so I couldn't give you a round figure.

Same with the rest of the stuff. Rings, dress, tux, that's all up to you. You can get a dress for $300 at Jessica McClintock or David's Bridal or you can fall in love with one that costs 3k. Rings too. That's up to you, your personal style & your budget. My set was $1600 plus the diamond which was around $1,000 so $2,600 for that but they sell simple bands for a few hundred if that's what you want.

Is there a really NICE place in Los Angeles to get coffee?

Elince Moc

I don't mean like the resterant.. I don't care if its a Starbucks... I just want a NICE (pretty) place
Somewhere not so, um, congested with people
Somewhere with tables and chairs outside
Preferably a big outdoor area
Maybe some nice vegetation
Just NICE
Not dirty like all of Los Angeles

Answer
Go to the Riodan's Tavern right next to the Pantry on Figueroa and James Woods in Downtown LA. Very nice, no not outdoor but you don't want outdoor in this weather anyway.

IF you have to have outdoor and don't mind driving to Laguna Beach (Orange County) then Las Brisas is PERFECT. Right on the beach, all your can eat breakfast buffet, gourmet coffee, and a place to walk on the beach after. Only 10-15 bucks a person for breakfast too.

It would be for me in Orange County Calif the coast of laguna beach or newport beach it is a lovely shoreline and many beach goers go there year around rain or shine because of its beauty.

how about you peoples share your beautiful sights.

Answer
Wow.. that beach sounds so beautiful. The way you describe it.. makes me want to see it in person.

For me its the green belt just outside my living-room window. There is a path and so many old trees of many colors are lining it now that its Fall season. I enjoy sitting on my little chair and table tucked in front of that window, watching the squirrels move around on the tree branches, listening to the birdies as they fly and twirl with their friends. Its a peaceful sight and it brings such a warmth to my heart to sit there, with my cup of tea, the Word and just chat with the Lord some. He is a great companion :)

How much do you get paid to be a teen vouge photographer and what is the cost of living in laguna beach?

its linds

For a math project we have to pick a profession and where to live. I would love the help! If you get it from another website please please please put your source.

Answer
You need a plan: First item on the agenda is rent. A decent 1BR apartment in LA currently goes for $1200, give or take. Nicer areas and areas closer to the beach are much higher. Don't expect to move to Santa Monica and get an apartment on the beach for that much. Or Toluca Lake, or Beverly Hills. Unlike many metro areas, LA is unique in that it extends for nearly 100 miles in every direction. There are no open spaces between towns. So the price tends to stay high until you are 70-100 miles from Los Angeles.

All told, it generally takes about $3,000 per month to live here in a bare-bones mode. If you don't have a job that pays that much or skills that can get you that kind of job, stay where you are. If you are unskilled and work for minimum wage (or for tips like bartending or waiting tables), you'll only make about $1200 per month. Laguna Beach would cost about $5,000-$6000 per month, since rent will cost about $2500 for a 1BR apartment.

As for being a photog for Teen VOGUE, you might need to call them. Photography is a very up-and-down business, and you really get paid by the shoot, not hourly. So it all depends on how many shoots you do. Unless you're wildly successful, I don't think you'll make that kind of coin, even as a photographer.
