What is too cheap for an outdoor wedding with the reception at my parents house under tents?!?

Britt K

I am going to have a causal wedding...we are getting married young, i will be 20 he will be 21 and its going to be friends and family and probably a buffet style BBQ. I was wondering what is too cheap, do i need table and chairs or are tables and benches (like a picinic tables). yea i know its alittle redneck but its how we are. Also if im doing casual are favors really needed?
oh and btw we are having a band...no my idea but would this be too white trashy..they are an 80s cover band lol

Answer
I would personally get tables and chairs. Get the wood fold up ones chances are you probably can rent them or borrow from a family member. I would also suggest favors but They really don't need to be expensive. My centerpieces are going to be vases filled with purple candy(purple is our wedding color). Then every one is going to be given a white paper bag and they can fill up their bags at nights end viola centerpieces and favors all in one ;-)

Sewing outdoor chair cushions?

Naztazia

I would like to make chair cushions for my outdoor lawn chairs. What type of fabric is best (and can I get it online @ a Joann's or Hancocks or some other website)? Also, any special type of foam insert I should use? Any special threads? Is waterproofing an issue? Anything else I should know? Thanks.

Answer
I sew as thrifty as I can get. I purchased a couple of vinyl table cloths at a discount store and made slip covers out of them and covered some old/cheap bed pillows! Talk about looking great! Cheap enough to make a set for all the holidays from all the holiday tablecloths!!

Help with outdoor fabrics...?

scorpiowom

I am repainting a metal outdoor table and recovering the seats of the matching chairs. I really want a black and white pattern, but all the outdoor fabrics I am finding are either just single colors or they are ridiculously expensive and have to be special ordered. Are there any treatment products out there to use on cottons or other fabrics that might work or any online resources for ordering cheaper outdoor fabrics?

Answer
I had a bistro set with 4 chair seats I wanted to recover inexpensively. I bought a large (52" x 120") vinyl-coated fabric outdoor table cloth for less than $12 (it was either at TJ Maxx or the sale bin at Pier One) and cut the covers from it. I had more than enough left over to make matching placemats, too. The fabric seemed to hold up well to weather and sunlight. (don't know for how long -- I sold the set after 2 years.)

I've also covered outdoor cushions with just regular fabric. Drapery yard goods or even fabric shower curtains are cheap sources -- I've even used brightly printed bed sheets (that's what is covering my porch couch right now.) I wrap the cushions with plastic first, so they won't soak through if the chairs get left in the rain, then put the fabric covers over that. They can be removed and machine washed.

If you have a choice, pick polyester or other fabrics instead of cotton or nylon. Poly is more resistant to dying so the dyes that are used for polyester tend to hold up better to fading in the sun. It also resists staining and mildew better than cotton or nylon, at least in my experience.

You can also get a paint-on or spray tent waterproofing liquid at some large camping good stores, but it will tend to discolor some fabrics and it really does not make them completely waterproof.

How to make an outdoor table and chairs?

Answerer

Okay well my Mum bought a cheap set of outdoor table + chairs for half price.. but it was glass and after a week it smashed from the umbrella being in it even though it was supposed to last well.. luckily she was able to get her money back but the sale is not on anymore so all the table settings are really expensive.. my mum was really happy to have somewhere nice and comfy to sit as she'd been wanting an outdoor table + chairs for years. So I thought I could build her a wooden set for christmas.. I have no building experience but my Dad said he'd help me and we can do it at his house.. he has built a barbecue table before but said he doesn't really know how to make the individual chairs and that.
Does anyone have any tips? Suggestions?
I was thinking something like this: (second picture) http://outdoor-furniture.luxury-ideas.com/category/outdoor-furniture-design/
Just something basic (without the cushions) Do you think it'd be simple enough?

Answer
I think that if you don't have any building experience you are way out of your league. you need so many different tools to do something like that and unless you make a table a week then they will not pay for themselves. The easiest thing to build is a swing for two. Its allot cheaper to. You don't have to build it out of cedar you can use treated wood or reg wood if you stain it. www.cedarfurnitureoutlet.biz/swings_âcatalog.htm

How can I make a small outdoor space prettier?

outdoor tables and chairs cheap on Glass Table and Modern Chairs in Outdoor Living Spaces Furniture ...

I live in a town house and everything is alright, but the only private space we have outside is a shared gap where the air conditioners are! My neighbor and I have already discussed everything. If I can make it look OK, she won't complain. The grass isn't finished growing, and we are growing tomatoes, and apparently weeds. I want it to be relaxing, and cheap.

Answer
2 chairs the kind that fold up..so you can take them in if u like....a small cooler to act like a table or foot rest ..a bag of ice and a six pack.......one of them fancy ash tray standsthat stick in the ground....a few decent sized rocks piled to gether somwhere....and a fake funny lookin frog...no wind chimes! just keep in mind that a lawn mower may be having to cut the grass....

Does any one know a place to keep cheap outdoor furniture?

Jess

Nothing special, just cheap. Me and my boyfriend just got a house with a patio, and we want a table and chairs for out there. The cheapest thing I found at Wal-Mart was like 150 and the table was tiny. I can't even find just a plastic table and chairs. We live in Western PA, I'm hoping theres a secret used store or something someone might know about:) lol

Answer
why not invest in something that will last you longer than a year, you can check end of season sales in september and garage sales for now, even if you find some resin chairs or plastic ones you can always paint them to match whatever decor you want to have on your patio.
The first patio we had i bought the blow up furniture to get us through the first summer (i got it really cheap) and the next year we bought nice stuff, sadly i sold it when i moved and am now in the same predicament as yourself.
