OUTDOOR PING PONG TABLE?!?

J BO

Hello all!

Im trying to buy an outdoor ping pong table because I dont have enough room inside. The table has to have all the official measurements of the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation). Those measurements are 9 feet long, 5 feet wide, 30 inches from the ground, and the table should have 1 inch thickness. The tables that I have found to be "weatherproof" outdoor tables are $1,500 worth and thats too much. Im thinking around the price of $100-500 dollars.

Please give me a recommendation of a good site if you can!

Thanks!

Answer
Outdoor ping pong will be like flying a RC copter. You need NO WIND! That tiny ball will be greatly effected by any wind.

I need an advise on what matereals to use to build an outdoor pp table. Must withstand New England weather.

Thanks.

Answer
Sheet of Marine Grade Plywood; 6 inch by 6 inch Redwood posts for legs. Pressure treated 2 inch by 4 inch wood for bracing. Buy a tarp big enough to cover it in bad weather.
OR like the first answer, buy a table (one that folds up when not in use) and put it out there when needed.

Recommendations sought for a ping pong table.?

I'm interested in buying a ping pong table, perhaps an indoor/outdoor table. Tables vary a lot. Can you help me understand the difference in features and tell me what brands are the best? I'm willing to spend about $500. Thanks.

Answer
They have a ping pong table on eBay for $400 for buy it now, but you have to put in your zip code for shipping:

What primer, paint, and seal should I use on an outdoor table?

shktomdh4

I recently built myself an outdoor ping pong table. It is not plywood but plybead. This is similar to a composite wood or particle board. The surface is already perfectly smooth. I want to paint and seal the table so it won't warp in various weather conditions. Does anyone know how I can go about doing this without ruining this type of wood?

Answer
Go with an Oil base primer preferably one of Benjamin Moores or Sherwin Williams better grade primer/paints. When you prime be sure to get the edges and any groves or crevasses the ply bead may have. Do two good coats of primer on it. The first coat thin it down slightly with paint thinner. Let dry for 12 to 24 hours. This will raise the grain slightly so sand it down with a sanding block after it dries. The second coat should be a regular coat without thinning. Sand again. You can then put a good quality 100% acrylic paint over it or an oil base paint will do just fine. But get a good quality primer and paint because you don't want your hard work and skill to be in vain.

I have a outdoor blue top aluminum ping pong table but not sure what model it is! The words are in German underneath the table and the only numbers are 7162-600. But I can't find any exact model online! It either has to be the nordkap or the stockholme! But I'm not sure so please help me determine this... The reason why I don't know is because I bought it off of craigs list off a lady that was trying to get money from her boyfriend stuff! Thanks

Include steps or materials or find an OUTDOOR ping pong table that cost $250 or under

Answer
There is no easy way to build a ping pong from standard available material. This is because the standard size of a ping pong table is 5' x 9', or if you make 1/2 or folding, then the size is 4.5' x 5'. Standard plywood is 4' x 8'. So you can't make one without a seam. Best is to buy one already made.
