Me and my wife are going to Disney World next month and were trying to find info about hotels?

We want to see both firework shows at MK and at Epcot. We will be there only for 2 days and 2 nights and I want to make is as romantic as possible. I also want something with a kitchen and huge patio...something big enough to where I can set up a table and some chairs and watch the fireworks with my woman. Obviously depending on where our hotel is we'll only be able to see one. Which one do you think has the best show and why? Which hotels would you suggest from a romance aspect and which ones have a kitchen? Price is not a problem. Your help is truly appreciated as I'm frankly tired of researching this ish. I've heard the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian and the Contemporary are the best ones to check out.

The fireworks are MK and Epcot are not like the firework shows you see at your local city park on the fourth of july. They are really shows with music, lightshows and other aspects thrown in. They are best viewed from inside the park.

That being deluxe resorts located near the Magic Kingdom are the only ones that have a view of the fireworks at MK and they also pipe the music to the resorts so guest can enjoy the soundtrack. So your resort choices are limited to Contemporary, Polynesian, grand Floridian and wilderness lodge and campground. All Deluxe hotel rooms at these hotels have balconeys. However, you pay extra and have to request a Magic Kingdom view room. You mentioned a patio and kitchen. The only spot for that is Bay Lake Tower where they have vacation villas with kitchens.

Epcot fireworks really need to be seen from inside the park. That way you can see the lazers, the globe and the countries as they light up. Its really spectacular. The only resorts you can really see the Epcot Fireworks are Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin and the Yaucht and beach club resorts. Unlike the MK resorts the music is not piped in and the view is not spot on. You basically get a good view of the ariels but its not like watching a firework show.

Since price is not an issue. I would get a one bedroom villa at Bay Lake Tower facing Magic Kingdom.

I am going to Hawaii, what is something I HAVE to see or visit while I am there?

I will be on Kona side of the Big Island for a week. I know about the volcano and the waterfalls and the beaches, but I'm talking about things I won't find in a guide book. Like unique places to eat, visit, or hangout at.

If you want a little nightlife or touristy setting check out kailua town on Alii drive. Its where the chains are: Hard rock, Outback, etc. I personally like LuLus, a bar/grill on the coast...a lot of famous people have been there. Bubba Gumps is good too...some of the places have second story patios overlooking the ocean.

If you make it to the Hilo side, get some local grinds (food)...do yourself a favor and be open minded! Try a loco moco - eggs, gravy, choice of meat, rice, mac salad...i love em! Mahi Mahi, Kahlua pork...Musubi is a good snack item. I really like Cafe 100 and blaine's drive inn...great local places. Hilo bayfront has some cool shops some fine dining places and a great icecream/shaved ice shop - mom n pops owned. Try the halo-halo - my personal favorite...theres also the farmers market on wednesday and saturday - great shopping/bargaining...food, souveniers, clothing, anything you can imagine. Check it out.
Try to avoid the hilo hotels as they are all pretty dirty/ghetto....

Rainbow falls in Hilo is beautiful, akaka falls is nice too (420 feet high.)

Black sands beach is cool and unique (theres a lot of black sand beaches but im talking about "black sands" beach.

Back on kona side Kua bay is my favorite beach - beautiful white sand, great blue water with waves, and also it has showers and PAVED road - a rarity for many beaches.

Place of refuge is cool, its sort of boring but still very neat to see the statues/tikis. Near there, there is a place to kayak(I forget what its called) but you can rent a kayak from a local for a cheap rprice (if you can bargain, try the drunk guy on the picnic table with the dog) and kayak out to captain cooks monument. In the early mornings dolphins like to go there.

I really enjoy the elevated drive above the kona coast - im not sure how exactly we got there, but its on the way to kailua town from place of refuge - i have never seen a more beautiful view.

If you are wondering how to get around the island, car rentals are fairly cheap...gas isnt but compared to the rest of the US rentals are very fair. Theres also the Hele-on bus that circles the island - you have to check for times...i think its on the web...search for hele on bus schedule big island.
The bus is totally free (or was a few months ago) but takes about four hours. Theres a lot of nice scenery though!

Wai'pio valley is really nice too...theres companys that will take you down the ridiculously steep road to get down there (you NEED 4x4.)

Be careful though...there are people on the island with a little hostility toward tourists...namely white people (haoles)...if you get called "f****** haole" it isnt a friendly gesture...just ignore them and get away. It isnt your fault but your ancestors took their land and some of them are still pissed. Haole can be used in a more friendly term too so dont immediately get offended if you hear this.

There are MANY MANY MANY friendly locals. Be respectful at all times...do not act like you are better than anyone...it is very offensive...remember that you are a guest on their islands...Keep an open mind and if you get called out just get away...dont be surprised if you are offered pot either as its almost a cultural thing!

My favourite was the Green Dolphin down at the Waterfront, not so much a pub as a bar at the front of a restaurant. However, fantastic place - buzzing and with great live jazz music! Even better - book a table and eat there!

If you get to Hout Bay there is a fantastic bar on the main road overlooking the sea - used to be called Dunes but not sure now.

If you get to Langebaan (not sure if spelt right), which is North of Cape Town on the coastal road, there are some great beach side bars which also sell great food - perfect on a warm day when you want to get out of the sun and enjoy a good view!

Oh - and in Cape Town go to the "Obs" district (Bohemian area and good fun) there are a number of good bars on the main street - sorry was having too good a time to remember the names! Seem to think it was Obs Bar.

Finally if you get to Simonstown (or round that way, somewhere on route to Borders if heading towards Cape Point) is a great place called Cape to Cuba - AMAZING COCKTAILS!

Also, again not so much bar (more a great day out with amazing entertainment and the best cocktails) is Spier! Make sure to visit the cheetahs!

I could go on but most places are really restaurants with bars in as opposed to pubs - or so we found!

What's it like to live by the beach?

I live in a small town by sacramento, but ive always wanted to live by the beach, can someone tell me if it's affordable, fun, and worth it

I love living by the beach. I live about 8 blocks from the ocean in San Diego in the community of Pacific Beach. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, came here for college six years ago, graduated and decided to stay here b/c I love living by the beach.

It's not really affordable but cheaper than the BAy Area and LA/Orange County. I pay $1375 for a 2 bedroom and studios or one bedrooms can be had near the ocean in San Diego for under $900 or $800 on the low end. It's not cheap but not as bad as SF or LA and definately worth it. Even if you are spending tons of money on rent the beach is always free.

Pacific Beach (PB) is such a great community for people in their 20's to live in. IT's small and compact so you can walk or ride beach cruiser everywhere. So many people ride their beach cruisers around here and it's the best way to get around. The nightlife is great here too, tons of bars and clubs along Garnett Ave in PB. And since San Diego is the only place that allows alcohol on the sand at some of it's beaches, including PB, in CA there is always a party going on there, especially during summer. Me and my friends love taking our beer pong table down to the beach and just posting up and we are definately not the only ones that do that. At least 50,000 people pack Pacific and Misision beaches on summer weekends and during events like 4th of July over 250,000 people can easily be at the beach here. We do get a lot of tourists by they are all cool and I like meeting new people from all over the country. And most people in SD are transplants like me and are from somewhere else, so it's always nice meeting people from all over.

We have the warmest water on the west coast and best weather outside of hawaii. SD has such a great beach culture and scene too. Even 40year old professionals wear board shorts, flip flops and ride around on beach cruisers here. People here are so friendly and laid back and not pretentious at all. There are parts of the beach here that are like a giant party on weekends with people standing shoulder to shoulder and all the people are so loud together you can barely here the ocean. Beer bongs, beer pong, flip cup, ect.. you will see it all at the beach here. And the WOMEN are amazing, so many hot chicks running around in skimpy bikinis all summer long.

And the swimming in the ocean just feels so nice and theraputic in a way. And it's great just smelling and feeling the ocean air around you, feels so nice and refreshing. I work about 30 miles north of PB and traffic can get bad heading home so I just go to the closest beach by my work and wait out the traffic, it's great. And even when I do sit in traffic along I-5 I have a view of the ocean to the right of me. San Diego also has some great spots on cliffs towering 300 feet straight up from the shoreline.

Over the past weekend I saw dolphins here for the first time. Everyone I know has seen them down here but this was the first i have. They were jumping really high out of the water and playing with each other, it was one of the coolest things i've seen at the beach down here. Also the snorkeling is good and you can see tons of stingrays and leapard sharks.

I know I wrote a lot but I seriously love livin by the beach here. SD has such a great year round beach culture and scene. Save up some money and try to move down here, it's a great city but kind of expensive but still cheaper than the Bay Area or LA/OC. And if you can't move try to visit during July or August, the 4th of July is the best event here in my opinion.

1. The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort, south of Kailua-Kona shines lights on the water at night around their hotel...it has attracted plankton and because there is no coral reef to block sea life that would normally be in the open ocean, the huge manta rays come at night to feed right off the hotel. So you can go at night, but you can also book a tour to do a night dive with the manta rays!

2. There is a great catamaran cruise called the Fair Wind that takes you to Kealakekua Bay for snorkeling or scuba diving. You leave from Keauhou Bay for 4-5 hours. Along the way since the water is very deep and no protected lagoons here, you have the chance of seeing flying fish scatter as the boat approaches, as well as spinner dolphins. Once there, the size of tropical fish is amazing.

3. Above Kailua-Kona is the funky artist's town of Holualoa. Hiroki Morinoue (Studio 7 on the main street) and other artists live here. You can also visit the Holualoa Coffee Factory where they package kona coffee from the cooperative of kona coffee growers here and take a short tour to learn about how coffee is graded and packaged.

4. South of town in Kealakekua Bay is the City of Refuge, absolutely the most glamorous ancient Hawaiian archeological site, in the most glamorous setting of coconut groves set along the water on black lava.

6. There is a restaurant halfway between town and Keahou called Jamieson's. They have a branch in Haleiwa, Oahu which is not very good, this one is better. It is on the ground floor of an old condo one side of Magic Sands beach, but once in the restaurant the views are amazing. When the water is rough the waves splash over the wall on the outside terrace, so beware when selecting a table! They usually have live Hawaiian music.

7. Kailua Kona is famous for going on charter boats to go deep sea fishing for marlin, you will see many boats for hire there.

9. Also in the Kohala area is an irrigation "ditch" tour by boat. Sounds very strange and I have never done this, but friends have and say it was fun, very historic and pretty in places. It was damaged in the earthquake in few years back, check to make sure it is open again.

11. Akaka Falls, north of Hilo is the most beautiful of all (easily accessible) hawaiian waterfalls.
