Is this a Good Deal on Bluebird Bus Conversion to an RV (motorhome)?

Jason A

I am looking to buy a 1979 Bluebird flat nosed Bus Conversion. Let me give you some details about the bus, Ill copy and paste from the Gentleman's add....1979 Bluebird bus completely converted to nice motor home. 5 year old 427 Chevrolet gas engine (completely rebuilt) 4000 watt two year old gas generator, 2 year old easy hook up tow hitch, 30 or 50 amp. electric, two roof top air conditioners (one runs on 30 amp and both run on 50 amp.) Satellite dish system, Long heavy duty electrical cord included, 20 inch TV installed in cupboard above driver's/passenger's seats, driver's seat and passenger's bucket seats like new. propane two burner stove with grill and small oven, wall mounted propane heater, quick recovery hot water heater, 30 gallon fresh water tank, large holding tank with fittings and hose for emptying tank (storage for hose on side of motor home) 10 cubic ft. refrigerator with freezer, private bathroom with sink and flush commode and lots of storage, private bedroom with queen size bed, with lots of storage, livingroom storage benches convert to full size bed (includes full size easy inflate air mattress), large microwave oven, lots of counter space and deep cupboards and drawers, kitchen table leaf extends table to seat four people comfortably (includes four folding chairs in excellent condition), privacy roll down thermal backed shades for front of motor home, motor home shades on other windows, Large easy set-up attachable awning..... Ok so there is the add. i went to look at it and it does look like it is in really great shape, and truly if i didnt see the outside i would never know that I wasnt in an expensive motor home...the inside was very well done. Apparently it was a campaign bus for one of the state senators at some point and time...anyhow they are asking 8000 and it had just come down from 10k a few weeks ago. The gentleman has lost a leg and is elderly I think is just looking to get rid of it and not really make anything on it...Is this a fair priced or am I out of whack?
really im not sure if it has separate tanks for black and gray water but everything else seems to be done properly so im guessing yes, thats a question i need to ask. I cant imagine it would be all that much more to have an additional tank put in. All he showed me with the sewer was how it hooked up
I just looked at a diagram on the plumbing. Only has one dump valve so definately no grey water tank. However there is no shower, so maybe the impact isnt all that great.

Answer
Doesn't sound too bad for $8,000. The 30 gallon fresh water tank won't take you far if you're dry camping somewhere though. It doesn't say if it has separate holding tanks for grey and black water. That would be a concern.

People asking about hallucinogenic drugs. What do you think of this "episode" that happened to me on them?

Q. Since people frequently are posting questions about Magic Mushrooms, LSD and such. Here is what happened to me many years ago. What do you think??

Ok so I took six hits of 4 way windowpane LSD. I lost who and where I was. All I remember was being in the middle of a highwaytrying to stand up but I kept falling down. I was crawling around. Cars were screaching to stop and swerving. Honking their horns. Some body was sying "oh my God" I remember talking in gibberish and making animal like sounds. I remember a guy pulling up next to me and saying "Buddy can I help you?". I was on all fours. I lashed out at him with a bunch of animal sounds. I remember staggering away into the woods. I remember waking up in a park next to a bench. On the bench were carved the words "Jimmi Page" and Jimmy Hendrix". I was awstruck by the depth of the words. They summed up my life in some way but I know not how. Then I walked a while and came upon a police car in the park. No one was in it. I tried to open the back door to get in and sit in the back seat. I was going to explain to the cop that I was tripping and did not know how to get
home. And would he take me home wherever home was? But it was locked. Then I tried to break the glass of the window to get in but it would not break by hitting it with my hand. Then I continued in the forest. Then I was convinced I was dead. I needed to get home to find my opituary because I wanted to attend my own funeral. Then I came upon a horse. The horse jumped. I fell to my knees thanking God I was alive because the horses moved and horses cannot sense dead people. But then a thought came to me. I thought "maybe horses can sense dead people." How do you spiritually read all this? I think I learned a lot. Also something else. There was one point when I was lying on the ground looking up at the stars. Then I got up and sat on a log. I lit a joint. Just as I lit it I was back on the ground looking at the stars. Then I was back on the log smoking the joint. Then I stood up walked to the center of the field and looked at my friend who was also tripping at a high level. I smiled and rose my hands above my head. My friend said "Don't do it". In a defient manner I said "Yes". And clapped my hands together above my head. As soon as I did it I was instantly shooting through the universe not bound by time or space. I also remember being in a state of pure mental orgasm. I could see generations upon infinite generations both backwards in time for infinity and forwards in infinity. The next day I found out that when I clapped my hands together my friend saw me dissappear and die. The whole forest turned to a wasteland of burned embers. He freaked out and made his way somehow back to my parents house. He walked in the door and went into their bedroom and got in bed with them like a scared child. They turned on the lights and saw him. He started crying and told them I was dead. But he did not know what happened. My mother stayed up all night comforting him. The next day I made my way home in the morning after I got back in my body. But no one was home. They were in the park looking for my body as they thought I was dead. I still thought I was dead so I started looking through the newspaper on the kitchen table for my obituary. I wanted to attend my own funeral. Then my mother and my friend came through the door. Then everythins was OK. This is how it went. This was the most important experience of my life in the world of universal knowledge. Not the crazy stuff but the experience of seing the infinite generations in the past and the future. What do you think? Pretty cool?

Answer
" How do you spiritually read all this?"
Um, you were just high as your were not really dead! I dont think their was any hidden truth there but I get the drift seeing the carved in hendrix, like it was left there for you a road map, no its just graffiti.

Yes thats not good trip, more though you should have had just two tabs not 4. 4 and even 10 can cause damage.

I used to take moderate doses. Once 2 tabs but nothing better then normal as far as tripping.

Best to try moderation as you can and do try to fly off buildings or get out in the snow and die (Unless you have a guardian) but trippers can decide the guardian is evel.

Its more fun to try group activities, water guns, water guns with liquor, (dont get in the eye!) Drinking large quantities of wine is also quite fun on LSD and shrooms as the wine or alcohol has no effects (hard alcohol does!)

I remember taking shrooms, (small ammounts not space trucking) and we all learned to play the didjradoo, watched shooting starts and talked about who among us ~Really was the antichrist~ and then I remember every one thought I was homosexual and then I thought I was gay also for a good 3 hours.

But thats good clean fun, dont abuse LSD unless your in a safe area even then bad things can go wrong, DOnt trip in the dead of winter if its cold, You wont know and can get hurt.

I once took 3 hits of liquid then hits every few hours for total of 12 hits but its not the same as 4 hits all at once, megga tripping.
We ALL could see UFOS and it was a great time. Dont forget to drink pleanty of liquids if your triping in the sun or day.

A great shroom trip was a small ammount, ( was high as a kite) and I went camping and then just went in the forest alone. I sat still for hours and communed with the dead, communed with the forest critters. super mellow. what you describe is a bad trip.
Its best that you had the trip though.

Don't trip with jerk offs! They ruin it and bring down cops, walk around naked and get hurt. I had some friends and they all tripped and one of the guys went to the emergency room because he thought his parrents were posessed. So my friends they all received felonies, so moderation is best as the consequences are quite high.

I am planning my Wedding with a budget of $6000-8000. We want it outdoors, planning on Sedona, AZ since we live here in AZ. We are pretty outdoorsy so are our families, we are planning on having the whole wedding reception turn into a camping trip (since we have 4 children, 2 are mine from a previous marriage and 2 are his from a previous marriage). We need help with everything!!! I love to cook, bake and decorate. Our colors are baby blue and burnt orange with about 60 quests. Any suggestions?

Answer
I love to look and look//to try to answer what you asked//, the only thing that I cannot get together is your colors, not dresses and flowers, but other stuff, you could have of course candles on the tables, but I also liked the all natural fruit centerpieces made out of fruit and greenery, but also there were burlap wrapped different sized jars and mason jars with beautiful orange/peach dahlias and then some with sunflowers, mustard colored mum buttons, daisies. golden statice and orange gerber daisies and loose drapey (perhaps you can get your own) greenery. My one suggestion would be to change the burnt orange to a medium orange, add in a bit of the burnt and like rust mums.
Just list some things: Since you are a camper, you will know about food, time/how much/storage/refrigeration if needed.
Beer and soft drinks in big tin tubs or the barrels that are cut in half to be flower planters at Lowes or Home Depot.
Round slabs of wood to put centerpieces on, will list a good site later, but you can probably get your own. Also the cutest cupcake tower, the towers were logs or pieces of wood different heights with pine cones and artificial woodsy flowers in between, gorgeous.
Corn hole game, croquet, flourscent ring toss if night time, ping pong games.
Tents, tables, chairs (?) fire pit, a must, a pretty landscape=flat or a hiking trail-some type of home made archway made out of small logs and twig branches with burlap twine and burlap bows, aisle lined with wildflowers, stanchions for reserved seats holding mason jars with flowers mentioned above, log benches or hay bales,
a place for parking, lighting?, twinkle lights
Crepe paper and japanese lanterns in your colors.Burlap and regular ribbon, Baskets/antique boxes to hold bottles of water, etc. signs made of wood or rustic chalkboards/slates (on site I will list) hanging silk flowers and/or round dots on mono filament line, cameras for guests to take candid shots, pine cone wreaths, metal type lanterns for light and to hang in trees, rustic wooden signs.***************
Found this Foil Cones (fix on grill) Fruit and Smores Cones
chopped fruit (strawberries and bananas-can use any), mini marshmallows, chocolate chips (dark chocolate has anti-oxidants), waffle style ice cream cones--must be waffle, mix as desired and add to waffle cones, cover with heavy foil, place on grill, turning twice for 5-7 minutes, a gooey good snack, may have to take a trial run first (*can add butterscotch morsels, white chocolate, nuts, brown sugar, toffee pieces, coconut, dried fruit) **but I like the more simple one
Favor bags--brown paper bags with top folded over in a small fold, staple, add craft eyeballs and a small bow tied below (mustache) the a round circle decorated with polka dots and the message you want----Tree best to you--oranetreed you came-
http://www.save-on-crafts ****this site has lots of good "stuff" and many ideas
So many beautiful state parks and camp grounds, you'll have to google/search or you may already have one in mind, I liked the "Slide rock St. Park" always wanted to do that

then saw this sign on some material like bleached linen with burlap back
I (heart shape) Spy
People dancing and twirling
Some fancy food
a bubbly drink
something blue
two people hand in hand
a white dress
a shirt with stripes of color gray
a couple of old souls
a sparkly diamond
a little sugar
a dress the color of the sun
a giant hug and kiss
Good luck, best wishes!!jl

Which would be easiest to do first? Who gets what bed?

Jamie's Mo

I'm planning on renovating my camper/RV once its paid off (by Oct). I want to replace *most* of the flooring as its filthy carpet, part of the bathroom floor has to be ripped up and replaced ASAP, I want to take the built in table (turns into a bed) out and put in a small breakfast nook table and chairs, and replace the couch.

The floor, flooring, and couch HAVE to be done. Couch is "broken" in that bars come through part and hurt your butt if you sit on it..... Like you can feel the supports though the cushions. The flooring is just gross. I hate carpet. And the plumbing is messed up so the bathroom floor has been being wet over and over, we're trying to fix it but it happened before we bought it....

What would be easiest to do first?

We also have a full bed in a "seperate" bedroom, and a twin bed by the bathroom/couch/table. Would you leave your son (21 months) in the big bed and take the twin, or make him go to the twin? I've been staying up late doing homework, but I *could* move it to the bedroom lol. He's just never slept alone or in the twin bed.

Who would sleep where?
Sorry, the floor will be done as soon as the issue is fixed, we just can't figure it out yet. I thought I had fixed it earlier but guess not....

I love the storage bench idea! I was leaning towards a futon lol!

Answer
I would fix the bathroom first. The damage will only get worse and more costly to fix it if it is not repaired. I would not wait nearly a year to do so, either. Mold and mildew can cause health issues.

I would take out the built in table and the couch and then rip up the carpet. Make any repairs, and then cover with the "puzzle" style wood flooring that is nice, durable and not too expensive.

For an RV, depending on room i would put in a breakfast nook I have seen at Montgomery Ward and KMart- it is a booth style bench (with storage under the seats) and a picnic style table, with a picnic bench (which you could use or not). It is only $200. It is not large or heavy, so it would be great in an RV. As well, I would probably replace the couch with a futon if possible- they are usually inexpensive (I have seen them for as little as $100), lightweight and versatile (couch or bed).

If he has never slept on the twin, I would not put him on it at his age. He would likely be used to the bigger bed and roll off of the smaller one, both because it is smaller and because the bigger one is probably surrounding on most sides by walls that prevent his falling. Besides, the noise from your being up will not disturb him if he is in another room.

We have been looking at popup campers (probably a fixer upper, because I am not willing to pay what they cost new) to buy one day so we can take the children camping more often (and still have some conveniences such as electricity, fridge, toilet, heat/air) so when I see somethign that will work, I make note of it for future reference.
