ideas about making tables out of random things?

recently i saw a coffee table made out of old pallets and i was wanting to make a coffee table out of something you wouldnt normally see..Im looking for a colorful/modern type of look! Any ideas??

Yes, I full agree that you can make tables using old pallets. Old pallets and be used for many things.
We have three medium sized tables on our rap around deck out side that husband made from wood he collected from different places when we still had our out-door wood burner. I'd see a piece of wood that I knew had potential for a table and the work began. We have been using them for at least five years now. Simply made, but very durable. Just the thing needed for end tables for an out door deck. I like the the rustic look anyway so they fit in great for there use. Husband also made a table and small simple benches to use around our fire pit.

You are saying that you're looking for something that is colorful and modern looking. Any wood can be painting, but I don't know about the moder look when talking pallets.

Have you considered using a large foot rest that you can use for both foot rest and coffee table. This kind of thing is used all the time. You get two for the price of one. I always liked the idea, but it just wouldn't work with my house, but could with yours. Something to consider. Perhaps you could go hunting to second hand stores for a medal framed table on the modern side. Even if you would have to replace the glass it still might be worth purchasing with the frame is cheap enough to re-due.

Get out there a hunt second hand shops, rummage sales, even Goodwill stores. You never know what you can find at half or less the price than new. Bring in home and begin your project. Always be sure before you buy. You don't want to wind up with three different things that you decide you can't use. Get a picture in you mind of what you looking for. It's out there waiting for you. I've re-done and old cart on wheels for use in my kitchen. I'm sure you can find something to use for a coffee table. After you re-do it, now you can call it your own, and it's brand new again. It's fun to see something old come to life again. Good luck.

In high school woodshop I made a beautiful piano bench. I had an old piano with a chair. Made my own bench out of oak. It was very strong and good. Had a flip up top for music and everything.

I gave it to a preacher friend of mine to use for awhile. God called him to a ministry in another town and the b@st@rd took my bench with him!

Whether God called him or not, I'm not sure, but I KNOW God did not call my bench to move on. That gosh-darned mudder freakin' preacher! Shinola!!!

It is large white house with grey trimming,it has a double car garage, and a spacious front,sides,and back yard with 6 small crepe myrtles trees spaced unevenly about the back yd. where a small grass covered slope leads to a beautiful cascading water fall thats flowing down over rocks into a small pond that is home to 6 coy fish, and small lily pads. there`s a inviting stone bench that seats two nearby the pond.the front yard is beautifully landscaped with a variety of low ground covering seasonal flowers along the front entrance walkway, a welcome mat lies at the front door, and the door chimes button is a little brass pineapple so that whoever visits will know that they are truly welcome,Upon entering the home, Inside the foyer there is along antique mahogany table with fresh arranged flowers from the garden,and there is a large gold framed painting of 3 children at play on the wall above the table,also one will notice a winding stair case about 8ft.from the entrance that leads to 4 emaculate bedrooms upstairs,all bdrms. are painted antique white,and trimmed in Lt. coaco brown, but the master bed rm. is trimmed in gold.with off wht. draperies and carpet, one bedroom is a guest room,it has palms and bamboo printed drapes, with golden brown carpet to match the bamboo. the other bdrms.are for children, a boy & a girl and are decorated with children motif, also there are twin beds in each childs room so friends or relatives can sleep over. The windows in the children rms. are overlooking the left, and one the right side of the yd. the master bedrm.has 3 windows, 2 over look the front yd. and 1side window over looks the left side of the yd.The guest bdrm. windows over look the the back yd.view landscaped of trees, blooming gardens,and the waterfall in the distance. There is a bathrm. in each of the bedrms. Down stairs to the left of the foyer is a waiting room, where guest can visit. it is a wht.rm. with a wood burning fire place, Lt. royal blue drapes,and a blue sofa with 2 matching chairs. and coffee table holding a silver tea pot, sugar and creamer on a silver tray and a crystal candy dish filled with an asstmnt. of toffee candies. The guest rest room is accross the hall, it is white, with sea foam green guest towels, and peach colored guest soaps on a white porcelain sea shell shaped face bowl,w/gold colored fixtures,and toilet, no shower or tub. The Family room is a spacious room with wood paneling on one wall where a huge stony fire place rages during icy cold and snowy winter months. there`s a play pen sofa, plus a big daddy recliner sitting near the fire place, "of course," facing a big 52" screen TV. the remote never leaves the big daddy recliner.lol. Now the dining room is quite formal, it is white with a black, pink,red and gold floral wall paper border. the dining table and 12 chairs are walnut,w/ a matching walnut Buffet,the table is covered with a beautiful white hand made lace table cloth, The kitchen is large, white with red trim, (old fashioned) with a lot of cubbard space, a white stove and refrigerator, freezer, Oh there`s more, but time won`t allow it.This has been a lot of fun telling about my dream house, maybe it will be true one day, if not.. I know of a better place where I`ll have a Mansion, my sure home,without a doubt. like Y Buug stated , a real dream home. But we`re here for now, so I decided to dream a little.
