What are some simple foods that can help increase my bench press?

Jessy

Ok, im 17 years old, and i really wish i could follow a strict diet, but i really can only eat right now what ever is at the dinner table. I am wondering if there are any simple foods, maybe such as peanut butter sandwiches, that would be able to help me get the protein i need. If any of you can just list some of those, that would be helpful,
thanks in advance.

How to get a puppy to love grooming?

Presto!

I have a male puppy who absolutely hates grooming, and will try to run away, jump off the bench and will never stay still. The problem is he's a toy poodle, and they need daily grooming. No matter when I do it, (when he's sleepy, just eaten, before his dinner, after a walk) he won't stop wriggling!
How do I get him to love grooming time and stay still?

Answer
Groomers use a noose just for that reason. They don't want the dog to jump or fall off the table or jump out of a bath tub.

Put the bench up close to something you can tie your dog to so he can't run away or jump off the bench. He is going to fight you but you have to look at it like you got a job to do & you are not going to let any of his antics stop you from doing that job.

Take your time & do not hurt him. Use a "Slicker" brush to brush him with & use a wide toothed come to comb through so you know you got all the mats. Do not ever bathe the dog before you have removed ALL mats or the will just be harder to get out after the dog has dried. Hair, fur, coat will act like leather & shrink when it dries & only tighten the mat.

My girlfriend and I's one year anniversary is coming up at the end of the month. I am taking her all over the city so we are busy all day long. We are going out for dinner so I wanted to take her on a picnic in the city for lunch. Considering it will be the start of the Winter I don't know how the weather will work out so I am looking for indoor public spots to take our stuff? Also any nice recipes would be helpful? We are in college Thnks I really appreciate any insight

What I need to know is, when I soak the cashews overnight, should I let them soak in the fridge or outside of the fridge? Thank you!

Also if you have any ideas for wonderful additional ingredients to make it special, I'm serving it to a table of omnivores tomorrow. They've never had good vegan food and I want to impress them.

So far I am using.. soaked cashews, lemon, nutritional yeast, sea salt, and pepper.
oh yes, and onions. :) thanks for reminding me :)

Answer
Yum! I want to come for dinner too.

With the soaking you can do either. I usually chuck it in the fridge to get it off my bench space, and my cat likes to swat at things. I've made the recipe with miso instead of sea salt to add a bit more flavour and also you can add some onion powder. What you're saying is great though. How much do you love the cheesy goodness of nutritional yeast?

Why does my dog insist on doing naughty things while we are gone?

We rescued a German Shepherd almost 6 months ago. She came with issues we were prepared for that, she had had 4 homes by the time she was only 6-8 months old...we expected separation anxiety and trust issues. She would not eat much more than a cup of food a day.her first day with us we let her roam the house. we hadn't been able to get a kennel for her at that date. The first day she tore through the house, she pulled door trim off the wall, 2 blinds off of windows and soiled the carpet.we found that our first dog was able to be trusted in the house so we let her roam and put our new dog in the kennel. The first week we had her we thought we were going to lose our house because of her. She ate the dining room table and 2 chairs.. to the point of one chair not being suitable to sit in and the table is now wobbly. she tore a hole about 3ft in diameter in the kitchen flooring and tore down another blind. all of this THROUGH her Kennel. She destroyed the kennel by biting and breaking the 9 gauge wires the kennel was made of to make a hole big enough for her head... we put toy in there with her a blanket that we had bought just for her we came home to everything shredded. We had no choice but to tether her out side. We came to the conclusion that she didn't trust us. So we built on that she is now eating and gaining weight and now trusts us we could trust her for a few hours inside for the last month or so but now she is starting it all over again! we don't know what to do we don't want to keep her outside and we cant kennel her! she's tearing trim and drywall down and soiling the carpet! some one please help. we feel all options are being exhausted... we do a goodbye routine. we feed and water before we go turn the radio on walk to the door tell them to be good and we leave. We ALWAYS come back within 5 hours. Doggy day care isn't feasible where we live. No we can not take them to work. No no one can go "check up" on them throughout the day. (personally I think all of those are absurd). Aside from Doggy Xanax we don't know what to do. Someone please help me!!
I believe that this second round of bad behavior is anxiety based. We have had her for 6 moths now and we aren't sure what could be triggering this second round.... she knows that we always come back. if we are going to be gone any longer than a few hours or we don't know how long we'll be gone we take both dogs with us. We live in rural IN and doggy daycare isn't any closer than an hour away... she has been to the vet they said she was fine. the only thing I can think of is that we have both been extremely busy the past few weeks and have been home for short amounts of time throughout the day...? kenneling is out. She tore through a steel cage with her teeth and claws... it stresses her out way too much she pants and howls when in a kennel it isn't worth it to us to have her hurt herself. the only thing I can think of is letting her in our room... it smells like us and its where she goes if she hears gun shots or is in trouble. but once again... we cant trust her..

Answer
Why when you are away?
⢠What better time? - there's no-one to interrupt her.
⢠Because that's when there's no-one to interest her, to give her love & attention.
⢠Because it is BORING being alone.

I notice that you don't mention any time you've spent in training-club classes with her, so that YOU get coached on how to become an effective trainer - BAD mistake with any intelligent breed!
Dogs are considered to be about equivalent to a 2½ years old toddler, emotionally & intellectually. How long would you leave a toddler loose in the house? How long would you shut a toddler in a cage?

People who can't be home full-time should erect a roofed security run in their dog-&-brat-proof fenced yard. For a GSD, the run should be at least 12ft long (4 feet wide is plenty), and have a raised sleeping box at the far end. My 8½ months pup sleeps in her tun (in between announcing visits by cats or hedgehogs). After her breakfast & until she is put out with her dinner, she normally has the run of the house & yard - but at present she is on-heat, so isn't allowed to run free unless I am out there with her. As a consequence, she gets bored out of her tiny skull, thinking up mischief to entertain herself with while I am busy. Nail brushes, my toothbrush & tube of toothpaste, my shampoo bottle, a Swarfega pump, tea-towels, towels, my facecloth, the dishes scrubber, a bread&butter knife, a meat knife, and pint bottles get moved around the house. She brings me her tug-rope or ball or chomped hair-brush. Yesterday she 3 times brought me the newspaper (I 3 times took it back to its place on the bench until I have time to read bits of it.) She managed to rip the passage carpet to produce a strip about 4" wide and 15" long. She is expert at separating the heater-plug from the socket of the extension cord.

In other words:
When bored, GSDs, Labradors, and other intelligent dogs THINK UP THINGS TO DO.
You must either prevent them from being bored, or place them in a security run while you're out - or pay for the damage.

As for toileting in the house: Almost impossible to stop once her smell has soaked into her favourite spot. Realise that the times when she feels the need to empty out don't always match your availability - a security pen solves that one.

Your room is JUST a room, with shreddable "stuff" in it for her to amuse herself with.
