I want to something a bit more different then the usual folded up in line cards with everyones name and table numbers. I want it to be creative but not expensive.

Answer
It would help to give you ideas if we knew what kind of theme or setting you are having at the event.

For example, for a beach wedding, you could paint everyone's name on a shell at their place setting.

For a formal wedding, you could have people's names embroidered or screen printed on their napkin.

You could put a tiny pot of flowers with each guests names painted on it at each place setting.

There are lots of things you can do if you think outside the box.

What should the theme for my dance party be?

Q. I expect there will be people age 16 to 19 there, and it'll be in august. I plan to have a lot of people come, but i can't think of a theme for the life of me! Any ideas?

A Night in Venice
A romantic night from the city of love

Decorate with gondolas (with or without the fake canal), bridges, arches and tons of twinkle lights for a romantic glow. If Venice isn't the city of love for you, a similar choice in the top 10 prom themes is A Night in Paris, complete with Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe for pictures and café seating for extra romance.

--------------------------------------â¦

2.
Mardi Gras
Let the good times roll all night long

One of the easiest but still best prom themes is a Mardi Gras/Louisiana theme because everyone can relate to the fun of Mardi Gras. Deck the place out in green, purple and gold, have plenty of beads all around and use cutouts of French Quarter buildings to set the scene.

--------------------------------------â¦

3.
Midsummer Night's Dream
Bring Shakespearean romance to life

You don't have to be an English literature buff to know that Shakespeare was quite the romantic, and using one of his plays as your theme is a great way to set a playfully romantic mood. Decorate in a garden or forest style, or choose columns decked out with greenery and flowers.

--------------------------------------â¦

4.
Casablanca
Here's lookin' at you, kids

Any romantic movie can be a good choice for a prom theme, but Casablanca is a really great choice because it allows you to give into retro style and play with the colors of Africa. You might even be able to reuse parts of an Italian or French prom kit to create a Moroccan paradise.

--------------------------------------â¦

5.
Casino
Luck be a lady tonight

While most schools won't condone even fake gambling at prom, a night of casino fun is one of the top 10 prom themes because of the use of color: black, red, green and white are predominant. Decorate with roulette wheels, playing cards and dice, scatter poker chips on the tables and use Vegas cutouts to make the look authentic.

--------------------------------------â¦

6.
Under the Sea
Shipwrecks and mermaids

There's something enchanting about an ocean prom theme, and there are lots of different ways you can carry it out, from starting with a shipwreck to thinking about schools of fish, mermaids and translucent balloons representing bubbles. This is a nice, playful and romantic theme that everyone will enjoy.

--------------------------------------â¦

7.
Under the Stars
Dial up the romance with a celestial theme

The stars and the moon offer so much romantic potential, one of the top 10 prom themes just has to be something featuring these subjects. There are many things you can incorporate with your theme name such as shooting stars, falling stars, moonlight, enchantment, wishing on a star and, of course, dancing under the stars.

--------------------------------------â¦

8.
Hollywood Glamour
A night at the movies
Whether you choose to go retro or modern bling, choosing Hollywood as a prom theme is a lot of fun. Roll out the red carpet, hang lots of stars (maybe even give every senior a star that's hung somewhere in the room) and have flashing lights to imply paparazzi.

--------------------------------------â¦

9.
Arabian Nights
Can you say "A Whole New World"?

Even since the movie Aladdin came out, an Arabian theme has become popular for proms. The romance of the desert and the genie in the magic lamp is evident, and using lots of fabric and colorful balloons will make this theme pop.

--------------------------------------â¦

10.
A Night on the Beach
Have a luau in your finest clothes

People who don't live near beaches love to be reminded of the beach, so try a Hawaiian or general beach theme. If you can get some sand trucked in, that will make it more fun, but decorating with tropical flowers and encouraging people to wear leis instead of corsages will go a long way toward making this theme successful.

Demi

I am wanting to know what the theme of my party should be if I am renting a hall in springfield illinois for my sweet 16 and having both friends and family at the party.

Answer
Either a Candlyland theme. you can have a candy bar and then for favors give them a box with your name on it and the guest can fill it with candy from the candy bar. hire a local dj company. get a bake with the candy land board on it with you in the castle on top instead of the king. rent a cotton candy maker and have someone in your family run it.

Or an luau. you can get a tropical type dress. have each table decorated with a different Hawaiian item(leis, grass skirt, coconuts, tropical fish). for favor you could but pretty Hawaiian style plastic glasses put decorative rocks in them with a tropical flower sticking out of the top and but a sticker on the bottom on the glass with your name on it. again you could hire a local dj. for a cake you could have it like a beach with gram cracker sand and sugar decorations.

~Hopes this helps and gives you an idea of themes

How do i create a Greek themed bedroom?

F@$H!#N

How would i go about creating a greek themed bedroom. I was thinking either beach-y or mythological.

1. What colors do i use?
2. What do i put in the room to make it feel like Greece?

Thanks :D
Please provide links and pictures. Thank You!

Answer
Well the colours that I associate with greece is Blue and white, not only because of the flag but from the fact that a lot of the buildings are painted white with a bluRIroof.
http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.theodora.com/wfb/photos/greece/greece3.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.theodora.com/wfb/photos/greece/greece_photos_02.html&usg=__KFkZhqgTjNAhKgm5fFoqxviI1QM=&h=525&w=700&sz=80&hl=en&start=3&um=1&tbnid=y3S-hPgbZITobM:&tbnh=105&tbnw=140&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgreece%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4SNYK_en-GBGB270GB271%26um%3D1
Like that :)

I wouls say that a good Idea is to paint 3 walls in white and one feautre wall that beautiful blue colour :)
Also I would say get large(ish) pictures/posters of greece, I know that places print canvases with your choice of photo so maybe you could even use one of your own or maybe some of the buildings, beach or the historical aspects e.g. acropolis.

Another colour I tihnk would be nice to mix in is gold as gold and white to me adds to the greek goddess type feel, I would say get white gurtains made out of a thin material and if you have enough space in your room get them longer so that they 'puddle' at the bottom. Also tie them back with some gold ribbon making sure the draping at the windows look good.
For other room accessories I would say just use nice blue and gold things, maybe a white bedcover with blue and gold cushions or throws, maybe even if you could get hold of some greek flag pillows. Also if you have a canopy bed that would be perfect and use a simillar idea to the curtains e.g. drape sort of like this http://images.hayneedle.com/mgen/master:HOOK454.jpg

For things such as desks or bedside tables you can try and get hold of plaster pillars and add a glass top to them as this would really complete the theme.
Ohh and you can find your name in greek and paint it on your blue wall in white paint :)
