Think how a caterer sets up food for a perfect display but picnic style. Any ideas about the perfect setup to make it more comfortable. I love seafood and its on the beach but want something unique. Its for a 10/10/10 beach elopement.

Answer
For two...right?

I would bring a body board to use for the table and a nice beach towel for a tablecloth. I would have food with dips and have the dip in a small bowl in the center of the plate with the food to be dipped all around the plate.
1. a meat platter..I would have shrimp coctail, crab legs and salmon cakes with a seafood dip in the center. Maybe a few slices of rye party bread. Garnish with bunches of chives.
2. a vegetable platter...I would have carrots, radishes, cucumbers and avocado with a ranch type dip in the center. Maybe a few deli crackers. Garnish with parsley.
3. a dessert platter...I would have grapes, strawberries, melon balls and pineapple chunks with a nice fruit dip in the center. Maybe a few wafer type cookies. Garnish with Mint leaves.
4. Wine coolers to drink. You can do the champagne later.

This is a recipe I have for a fresh fruit dip...it is excellent!
FRESH FRUIT DIP OR DRESSING
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp enriched flour
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 TBS lemon juice
1/2 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
Combine sugar, flour and egg yolk. Add fruit juice.
Cook in double boiler till thick. Cool. Fold in whipped cream.

I need ideas for a wedding shower and bachelorette party?

batmancrtn

I am the maid of honor in my best friends wedding. I am throwing the wedding shower and bachelorette party. Ive been reading ideas online for both but everything requires lots of money. Im on a TINY budget and was wondering if anyone had free or cheap ideas of things to do.

Answer
A shower is fairly inexpensive depending on how many people you invite. Let's say you invite 20 people. Invites will run you about $30-$40. Then food. You can go as cheap as you want for that. I'd say punch, a cake, and a few sandwiches/puff pastries will run you about $50. You should have a co-host split it with you as I imagine you aren't having it at your own house. Then that would be about $50 each.

If that's too much, do some things yourself. Instead of buying a couple flower arrangements for the table, pick your own. Instead of buying frozen quiches or puff pastries at a warehouse club, make sandwiches yourself. Make chicken salad croissants and cucumber sandwiches. Then you could cut the cost in about half.

For a bachelorette party, how many girls are you inviting? It's not just the wedding party that's invited. I'd say the average number is between 7 and 15 girls. Ask them what their budget is. For $20 a person you can do a fair amount.

My bachelorette party we went to dinner at a restaurant that was doing buy one get one free appetizers. We all passed them around the table and it ended up being $8 a person for 2 appetizers each (though I don't think we actually ordered that much). Then we went to a few bars with ladies get in free. Then after about 1 drink, people started buying the bachelorette party drinks. Including buying my drinks, I think that ended up being about $15 per person over 3 bars. So my total was about $25 per person.

There are so many things you can do--it depends on the girls. For an older friend of mine, they hired a chef for about $300. They spent $200 on wine. That was only $25 per person since they had 20 people.

For another friend who had known her bridesmaids since they were 5, they had a sleepover like the old days. A lot of old 80s movies, popcorn and margaritas all night. That was something like $30 total as they got the bucket of margaritas from bed bath and beyond and popcorn is super cheap. Someone put the movies on their netflix.

My groom went camping for his bachelor party. A campsite is about $20-$30. Between beer, food, wood for the fire, gas to get there and other stuff I think everyone put in $30. They rented 2 campsites and between the whole group, tents and sleeping bags were covered. However I've been to campsites that already had tents set up for you.

You could tour wineries. When we were out in California we rented an 8 passenger limo. It was about $40 per person. Many wineries are free and the ones that aren't have roughly a $5 tasting fee. You could easily just do free ones though. Oregon, Virginia, NC--all have a ton of wineries.

One thing I've heard of some people doing is going to an amusement park. That ends up being close to $60 per person though once you have parking and food thrown in but there are lots of outdoorsy things you can do. Minor league baseball games come to mind. You could go to the beach for a day trip. A cooler filled with ice and drinks for the day, and stopping for a meal on the way down and back would be all. Probably close to $30 per person.

Some couples do a backyard bbq type of thing and just grill out burgers at the pool. Yes some girls go to the spa for the day or do some luxury trip to NYC and spend several hundred but I don't know any of them. Most people get married in their mid20s and most of their friends are poor.

Ideas for redecorating my room to an ocean theme?

I want to redecorate my room and make it an ocean theme. I already decided that I'm going to buy framed pictures of the beach, sunsets, etc. I'm going go get a new bed set that's green or blue or both. What else can I do? I have no other ideas!

Oh and also, I'm on a low budget so I can't go all out. Thanks in advance!

Answer
Oh gonna be so pretty and relaxing too! I would use a color scheme of sandy tans, soft blues and greens for the decor. Sheer white curtains long length. Think sheer flowing material like a softly blowing breeze. They are also 'cost effective' in another word cheap :o) Be certain tio keep the curtain rods etc to a minimalists concept. Hidden rod, like a slide rod. Or maybe you prefer blinds in a natural wood treatment. Second hand stores offer Small side tables. These can be repainted and can be a good display for Candles, candles and more candles artfully arranged in a clear crystal glass bowl(s) filled with either sand or sea shells or both. The bowls to can be purchased at second hand stores and yard sales. You don't have to get everything at once, gather as you go, seeing as you already have a theme in mind. Perhaps a few scatter rugs, but again go for texture and colors that compliment within the suggested range of colors. Keep to the natural elements. Search around and try to find something for one wall such as a good size piece of Driftwood. It will be lovely!

Do you have any good ideas about where to put a promotional and/or sales booth?

I am working for a company that is giving away high quality home security systems. The customer only has to cover the monthly monitoring rate. I want to put up a table with a sign on it somewhere to advertise and generate leads. I live in Pensacola Fl so I already figured somewhere around the beach. Any additional ideas would be appreciated

Answer
Ask if you can set up outside of Home Depot, or other busy stores that sell to home owners.

What are some creative ways to display table seating cards at a wedding?

I want to something a bit more different then the usual folded up in line cards with everyones name and table numbers. I want it to be creative but not expensive.

Answer
It would help to give you ideas if we knew what kind of theme or setting you are having at the event.

For example, for a beach wedding, you could paint everyone's name on a shell at their place setting.

For a formal wedding, you could have people's names embroidered or screen printed on their napkin.

You could put a tiny pot of flowers with each guests names painted on it at each place setting.

There are lots of things you can do if you think outside the box.
