How to throw a kickass beach birthday party?

Martha

So, in about a month I am throwing a beach birthday party, and I really don't know what to do, since I've never thrown or been to one before... It'll be a group of 13-14 year old girls. I'd like to get this all planned as quickly as possible, because if I leave it to only a week of anticipation then some girls might already have plans.

Answer
Martha -A beach party is not difficult. A few must haves - a volley ball set up, several Frisbees, beach balls things that your guest can goof around with. Boogie boards are also a lot of fun. You can probably rent the volley ball set and boogie boards. Get the beach balls and Frisbees from a dollar store.

Of course you need music. Hopefully you have a portable CD player or ITunes play. bring spare batteries.

If there are tables available have someone get there early to claim space. Get some brightly colored vinyl table cloths - dollar store or WalMart. The top is vinyl and the bottom is felt or something like that. After the party hose them down or wash them in cold water and hang to dry. If there are no tables use several table cloths on the sand for your food and drinks. Remember that you need something to hold down the edges. Several beach umbrellas or a tent would be a good idea to shade the food area and to give your guest a place to get out of the sun. Rent those if you do not have it.

Food is an issue at a beach party because of the sand.
Do cup cakes instead of a cake. Easier to transport in a sealed container. Lots of cold drinks - sodas, sport drinks and water. If the beach has grills you can cook hamburgers and hot dogs. If not bring fried chicken. Take chips out of the bags and put them in large bowls with a snap lid. Most dips need to be kept refrigerated. Half fill a large ice chest with ice. Put your dips in sealed plastic containers and put the containers in the ice. Have large container of hand wipes so your guest can wipe the sand off of their hands before reaching in for food. Make sure you have several large garbage bags to keep trash from scattering on the beach.

Instead of e-mailing your invitations snail mail real invitations. Make your own. Lots of beachy clip art available. Remind your guest to bring sun screen, beach towels, chairs and or umbrellas and beach toys. Since you and your guest live in a beach area they probably have stuff like that.

Even on the Gulf coast the water is still chilly in March so plan on lots of shore activities. How about a sand sculpture competition? You need buckets and shovels and even sand castle kits for your guest - dollar store or Big Lots. That may even be available for rent - just make sure none of the pieces get lost.

Good luck and have a great time.

I am looking for a small portable, or roll up table to take to the beach....?

Oneida

...the legs screwed on and the table rolled up.
The table looked to be maid of bamboo or some sort of wood like this. The lady said she ordered it from a magazine but I didn't get the name of the magazine. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it!!

Answer
This site has one for $ 54 .95. They also have a short one with 15 inch legs for 19 .95.

Birthday party ideas for teen girls?

beach table portable on Home > Tailgating Supplies > Tailgate Table > Portable Roll Up Table

I'm having a birthday party and I need some ideas for what to do.
I'm in high school; most of my friends are freshmen or sophomores.
I'm planning to rent a movie, and I would appreciate ideas for that too.
Thanks in advance!

Answer
Renting a movie is a great idea- it's always a crowd pleaser. I would just make sure you get a couple of them and then let people choose which one they want to watch when they get there, that way you don't have any unhappy guests.
Here are some movie ideas:
Comedy:
Juno
Legally Blond
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
In Her Shoes
Baby Mama
Sad:
P.S. I love U- (My friends and I cried at this for hours)
Horror:
Prom Night
Haunting in Connectiut
Haunting of Molly Hartley
I hope these helped!

Here are some other party ideas:
Hawaiian Lou ou (I did this one for my 12th, and even though I was only in middle school it was soooooooooooo much fun! You can get flower leighs and decorate to look like the beach, u no... with palm trees and that sort of thing. Serve snacks in beach buckets with small sand shovels for serving spoons. Have everyone come dressed up, like as hula dancers or as surfers. Then give prizes to the best costumes! For dinner, serve kabbobs and juice served in coconuts. You can even download some hawaiian stuff off of itunes. This is waaaaay fun for everyone, and you can get the decorations and stuff from pretty much any party shop.)

Back Yard Camping Trip- (I used this one last year. It was awesome! I set up a tent in the backyard, and then we did a weenie roast and had burgers on the grill for dinner. I used the outdoor fireplace, and we roasted marshmallows for s'mores. I got some songs off of itunes for the thing, and then we watched a movie on my portable DVD player in the tent that night. It was a great time. WE also played flashlight tag and told scary stories in the tent. You can do pretty much any kind of cake and icecream u want, and hardly any decorations are needed. Just make sure you buy plenty of bug spray- trust me, you'll need it.)

Bowling Party- (Okay... it sounds dorky, but its actually really fun. I've never had one, but my friend did, and it was soooooooo awesome. Most bowling alleys have a special birthday party room with like seven lanes and a free arcade. This is fun because u don't have to do any setting up and u can bowl or just hang out with your friends all night. U can have gaming tournaments- most places have like a pool table or a fooseball table or something- or just hang out and talk or whatever. Also, u can invite a lot of people without having to do ANY clean up whatsoever. This one never gets old.)

Girlz Night In- (Sleepovers r always a win-win situation. They're foolproof. There are endless things to do. Makeovers, spa treatments, movies, group games, and an endless snack bar are just a few ideas. For group games, u can do things like truth or dare, or firehouse. There's a great book I know for spa treatments, it's called the Klutz Body Book. It has things like face masks, scrubs, steams, and toners that you can make, body salts, soaks, pore invigorators, and lotions. It comes with mini botanical oil bottles, for you to make your own all- natural spa treatments- it even has a recipe for a fun spa drink!- u can't lose with this book. Makovers are always fun- makeover ur friends to look hot or just totally gothic, it's up to u! Just a tip- people never stop being hungry at a sleepover, and it's likely you'll be up till way past midnight, so stock up on the junkfood.)

Here are some other party theme ideas that I don't know so much about, but I've heard that they're fun:
*Pool Party
*Dance Party
*Cooking Party
*Project Runway Party (I don't know if you've heard of the show- it's a designing competition and for this party I guess that you could have your guests design things for prizes- sounds fun.)
*BBQ (Always fun, and easy.)
*Out to dinner (ask ur friends what foods they like first- that way there's something on the menu for everyone)
*Hollywood Party (Have ur friends dress to impress. Unroll a red carpet and videotape them as they arrive, looking stunning. Watch the video later with them and give awards for the best outfits.)
*Stay in a Hotel (The price for this one would probably be pretty steep, but u can trash the hotel room and not have to worry about picking up. Splurge on room service and video games and stay up all night long.)

I hope this helped! Birthdays r special, so don't blow them off. Think about them. A lot.

Food for Beach and Bonfire party?

anonymous

For a 14 y/o birthday party.

Beach bash and bonfire?

Food ideas?

Plus, 2 of my friends invited are vegetarians. Ideas for them?

Answer
I would have veggies and fruit and different dips. Shrimp cocktail? Finger foods are a plus. Salads and dressings.

I saw on television where the people used the beach as their theme, used sand in jars as table toppers with little shells in them that you could see and then put a candle in the middle. Just an idea.

Drinks, punches, sodas, water, look up a cool drink online something fun and different maybe with fruit in it with those swords.

Maybe take a portable grill and serve shis k bobs with meat and just veggies with potatoes, peppers, onions, and season them with bbq, Mrs. Dash, and lemon.(not all at once of course).

Lots of options. But don't forget the Smores!! ALways a hit!!

Instead of a cake. Do ice Cream Sundaes with lots of different tooppings. Different and fun! (my friend just did this for her sones 13 b-day party and they loved it and when everyone was done. They used the rest of the Whip for whip cream fights (canned whip cream).

We're going to be driving to Florida on Saturday, and we don't have ANYTHING to do in the car on the way there. Any suggestions on what to bring, or do?
Thanks captian obvious Tom M. something to bring, or do not something to do thats already in the car.

Answer
you guys can play padoodle. I play this with my friends when we go to the beach or some trip.
When someone sees a car with only one working headlight they say paddle and everyone has to touch the roof. the last one to do so looses. You can keep score or looser can put a quarter in a jar or anything you want.
they can just listen to music. i always preferred that since i really do like to listen to music. they can also bring a portable dvd player and rent a movie from red box. Me my brother and my father would drive from maryland to illinois and me and my brother always rented movies from red box or the library. there is also the book on cassette you can borrow from the library.

The most special and best thing to do in the car is just listen to the radio (what you listened to as a kid) and just talk like you're at the dinner table. I loved to listen to my dads stories and what he did as a kid my age and he would share his old music with me. A song would come on and he would tell me about it and tell me he loves that song. usually ill end up liking it.

Also snacking!!!

What can I buy my Mom for Mother's Day to put in her new camper?

Gimme

My parents just bought a new pull behind 5th wheel camper. I thought it would be a good idea to buy her something that she can use/put in the camper. Any suggestions?

Answer
If you're thinking about gift ideas that would work for a camper - any mini kitchen electronic item like a coffee maker, toaster oven or if the unit doesn't have one: a mini refridgerator/freezer.

Or a set of compact stovetop cookware. Or a portable tabletop propane BBQ. Or picnic items like table cloth, paperplate holders...

Or lawn games to keep in the camper - horseshoes, batmitton, frizbees, volleyball net. Or those camper outdoor strings of patio lights. Or a camping lantern. Lawn chairs. Beach towels.

There's a ton of stuff you could get for a camper because it's great to be able to leave those items in the camper rather than drag everything back and forth between the house everytime they want to go out on an adventure.
