Musical/Beach Birthday Ideas?

Tyto Alba

Hello,

I'm planning a surprise birthday party for my sister who's turning fifteen. The location of the party is at the beach, but I want to make the party atmosphere very musical, preferably rock/pop; but I'm having a hard time merging the two themes. I can't change the location, so that idea is out.

Any thoughts, suggestions will be very much appreciated, especially for the party decorations, music etc. Thanks in advance! (:

Answer
I'd suggest bringing a portable CD player and speakers. Make a personal CD for her of music you know she likes...then she can keep it afterwards as a gift!
For decorations, not sure if you have a pavillion available or not so some might not work. If you do, get streamer and balloons. You should be able to find balloons with music notes on them. If not, just draw some with a permanent marker (I've done this before).
For tables...get table cloths with music notes or just get a plain color and you can buy confetti in the shape of music notes (hopefully not windy or just glue some on).
Don't worry about how the location is at a beach. At least people can go swimming so there is more to do!
If you want more game ideas...I'd suggest bingo. Fun for all ages! And for prizes, just go to a dollar store or buy a bag of candy.
Oh for the cake! When I graduated my parents bought me a cake for like $20 and they decorated it with music notes for me. Just look around at stores that sell pre made cake.

Don't worry too much. I'm sure she'll love it no matter how it turns out. =)

Teen Party/hangout room?

JustWondre

We have a pool house and I want to turn it into a hangout/party room. So I can have a place to hangout with my friends over the summer. I want to know what should be in the room. It is a fairly large space. We have a game table, tv, couch, bathrooms, and even a small kitchen. But its feels kinda empty, Like what kind of decorations should there be?

Answer
1] Scotchguard everything - party rooms are notorious for stains.
2] get a pool table or air hockey table [ not a playststion - you want people to party, not veg out ]
3] get more seating - depending on your budget, either cushions/floor pillows/beanbag chairs or casual, comfy 'real 'chairs.
4] add art! Do posters with a theme - like movies, album covers, heart throbs; frame or laminate them so they sort of match.[ idea- movies with pools in them ]
5] add some outdoor decor - like japanese lanterns, beach towel covered pillows, 'antique' [ metal ] ice chests as coffee or side tables.
6] plants always help

My husband and I are having our baby shower at a neighborhood club house this June. It has a huge pool, so it's going to be a pool party. But we're having trouble deciding what kind of theme to do the cake, decorations, ect. We're having a boy and are doing a safari theme for the nursery. Should we do the same for our baby shower?

We've also thought about a beach theme (since its a pool party) and a pirate theme. Any other ideas would be great too!

Answer
You do not plan your own baby shower. It's tacky. Maybe a close friend will offer to throw you one.

EDITED FOR CLARIFICATION: "Meh with people telling you planning your own baby shower is tacky. My wife and I had to do that!"

You never have to look tacky. Being tacky is a choice. Look at it this way, you may be able to pick your nose at the dinner table but that doesn't mean that you should do it.

What can I do with a balloon and ball theme for my son's 1st birthday party?

I am throwing a 1st birthday party for my son. He loves balls and balloons so I was thinking about using these as themes. Does anyone have any games, party favor, decoration, etc. ideas?

Bubble Machine or Buy little bubble tubs and put them in Lolly bags for everybody to have - or put them on the table to people can help themselves to them.

Decorations - Blow up balloons and tie them and put them in a room on the floor. The kids/babies can play with them and kick them around.
Have a careful eye if the balloons pop and quickly pick up the rubber so the kids don't eat it. Also any balls, Blow up Beach Balls are great.

Also Streamers you could stickytape from corners of the room with different colours. I twisted 2 colours together which looked cool.

If you want to spend some money you could get a few balloons with Helium so the children can take one home each. Use them as Table decorations (I bought 8 and used 2 on each table, and Hung 3 on my car mirror (As is was at a Park) But if it is at our house you could hang them on your letter box/bin so ppl know where your house is.

What should my theme of my sweet 16 be and what activities should I do at it?

Demi

I am wanting to know what the theme of my party should be if I am renting a hall in springfield illinois for my sweet 16 and having both friends and family at the party.

Answer
Either a Candlyland theme. you can have a candy bar and then for favors give them a box with your name on it and the guest can fill it with candy from the candy bar. hire a local dj company. get a bake with the candy land board on it with you in the castle on top instead of the king. rent a cotton candy maker and have someone in your family run it.

Or an luau. you can get a tropical type dress. have each table decorated with a different Hawaiian item(leis, grass skirt, coconuts, tropical fish). for favor you could but pretty Hawaiian style plastic glasses put decorative rocks in them with a tropical flower sticking out of the top and but a sticker on the bottom on the glass with your name on it. again you could hire a local dj. for a cake you could have it like a beach with gram cracker sand and sugar decorations.

~Hopes this helps and gives you an idea of themes
