Musical/Beach Birthday Ideas?

Tyto Alba

Hello,

I'm planning a surprise birthday party for my sister who's turning fifteen. The location of the party is at the beach, but I want to make the party atmosphere very musical, preferably rock/pop; but I'm having a hard time merging the two themes. I can't change the location, so that idea is out.

Any thoughts, suggestions will be very much appreciated, especially for the party decorations, music etc. Thanks in advance! (:

Answer
I'd suggest bringing a portable CD player and speakers. Make a personal CD for her of music you know she likes...then she can keep it afterwards as a gift!
For decorations, not sure if you have a pavillion available or not so some might not work. If you do, get streamer and balloons. You should be able to find balloons with music notes on them. If not, just draw some with a permanent marker (I've done this before).
For tables...get table cloths with music notes or just get a plain color and you can buy confetti in the shape of music notes (hopefully not windy or just glue some on).
Don't worry about how the location is at a beach. At least people can go swimming so there is more to do!
If you want more game ideas...I'd suggest bingo. Fun for all ages! And for prizes, just go to a dollar store or buy a bag of candy.
Oh for the cake! When I graduated my parents bought me a cake for like $20 and they decorated it with music notes for me. Just look around at stores that sell pre made cake.

Don't worry too much. I'm sure she'll love it no matter how it turns out. =)

ideas for beach themed 19th birthday party?

Kaitlyn Gr

I am turning 19 in august and i am doing a lunch for family, then going out with friends that night. For the lunch i want it to be beach themed, not like luau or something cheap like that but like a nice "grown up" lunch with a beach-y inspiration. I tried to google ideas but i didnt have any luck. If anyone has any ideas or site suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
To go in a different direction than the luau theme....try doing a Nautical theme:

...it can be fun and somewhat sophisticated at the same time. Make your colors blue and white...accent with yellow (I like the yellow, adds more sunshine.)

Ideas for foods: shrimp cocktail, clam dip, shrimp scampi or even something as simple as fish sticks, or crab cakes or tuna on rolls.

Salads: tossed salad or cucumber, tomato and red onion salad or tomato-mozzarella bites on picks>>
http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/tomato-andâ¦

any kind of cold pasta salad or a shrimp salad or mac or potato salad
Or a pasta with pesto and shrimp

Serve a Blue Ocean Punch -- Dissolve a packet of blue Jell-o in two cups of hot water. Mix in two cups each of sugar, cold water and pineapple juice. Freeze until just before use, then mix with Sprite or ginger ale for a bubbly ocean-blue treat.

Can also float tiny boats in a punch
Serve "Chips Ahoy!" cookies...:D......set out bowls of "goldfish" crackers...add some Dips and "Ships"

Dress the table with a white cloth...add a runner in navy blue...add things like seashells and sand in jars with candles. Tie a piece of rope (or heavy twine) around the lip of the jar or just keep wrapping it around several times. Scatter little confetti anchors. You can also add the color brown to the table to tie in with the ropes of nautical theme. Alternate small candle jars with small vases of different shapes filled with 3 low flowers along the table. Colored sea glass marbles (from dollar store) can also fill the candle jars. Fill with water: float a tea light candle.

Fold linen napkins into the shape of a Sailboat for your guests (you can buy inexpensive material and cut 12inch squares to make them instead of purchasing pre-made linen napkins)..here's how>>
http://www.foldnapkins.com/fold-sail-boats.php

Hang a life preserver over a doorway or entryway to party welcoming guests--find driftwood to put around, use miniature lighthouses as decoration, hang up nautical flags in different colors. If you have a place, hang white sheets to pull back to have the effect of a curtain (it resembles a sail) for more ambiance.

Send invites out in a message in a bottle filled with little bit of sand and tiny shells--write it on white or ecru paper..singe the edges...add a cork and hand deliver...address your guests as Shipmates..invite them to having "oceans of fun in the sun".

Play music like Jimmy Buffet or reggae, "Sailing", "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay", etc.

what are good things to have at a sweet sixteen party?

Krista Bar

i want it to be big!
like i heard a chocolate foutain is good but what else?
my theme is beach.
helpp!!!

Answer
A chocolate fountain is always good, make sure you have a lot of things to dip in it, including fresh fruit, cookies, marshmallows, donuts, and graham crackers. Since your theme is beach, if you can afford it I think it would be cool to have a whole bunch of sand brought in to your venue so you have a sandy area. Include beach balls and things like that. Huge palm trees would be a nice decorating touch, you can get either the inflatable ones or the ones made out of lights. Tiki torches will add to the beach theme. If you are having it at the beach or if part of it is going to be outside, you can set up a volleyball and badminton net, have a frisbee and football to throw around, and have water balloons and water guns. You could have a bikini contest for the ladies, and a best chest competition for the guys. White and blue Christmas lights strung up will give a nice effect when it gets dark, and you could have balloons and streamer in colors that go with your theme as well. Get a huge cake made to look like a beach. For my sixth birthday I had one done that had half sand and half ocean, and it looked really good. You want to have a lot of snacks and appetizers. The basic ones are chips and dip, mozzarella sticks, cheese quesadillas with sour cream and guacamole, pigs in a blanket, and potato skins. Some other ideas are trail mix, popcorn, and mixed nuts. If your party is outside you could have a bonfire and make s'mores. Pizza is the best way to go for dinner because everyone likes it.You could also include some buffet style foods like macaroni and cheese and lasagna. For desserts other than cake, I would suggest an assortment of cookies and candy, and you could do mini cupcakes or an ice cream sundae bar as well. One things that can make a party stand out is party favors. You can give everyone cute bags that match your theme and fill them with candy, flower leis, tropical colored nail polish and chunky jewelry, beach themed lotion, candles and room incense, a beach ball not yet inflated, a beach themed movie, a mini water gun, a mixed cd with beach themed songs, and things like that. Obviously some of the items are for girls only, but you can make separate bags for the girls and guys. If you can afford it, you could have t shirts printed that have your name, the name of your party, and the date on them for everyone to keep as a party favor also. You could consider renting a photo booth for everyone to get their pictures taken in, or an ice sculpture of a dolphin or the ocean or something similar. Anything big and bold will really set your party apart from others. Make sure you have a lot of great music that everyone will enjoy, and if you have part of your party inside with a dance floor, include a disco ball, strobe lights, and maybe even a fog machine. You could give everyone glow sticks and glow bracelets to wear at that time as well. Whatever you end up doing, make sure you stick to your theme. If you make mini cupcakes, have the icing be blue and have a topper on them that is ocean or beach themed. On the tables you could have blue and white table cloths, and then have a centerpiece on the table that is beach themed, along with beach themed confetti. Another great idea is to have a disposable camera at each table. That way, guests can take pictures throughout the night on those, and you will have some interesting pictures to develop. One other thing you could consider doing is having a picture of you framed in white matte board, and having everyone that comes to the party sign it. Good luck and have a great time!

Sweet 16 themes please? 10 points to the best answer!?

I want a theme where girls can't come as sluts or even look like one.
I also want a theme that boys will enjoy.?!?

Answer
BEACH THEME!!!
Decorating for your sweet sixteen beach party is super fun. For any theme you

choose, make sure there's tons of color! Nothing brightens the mood like a captivating scenery.

Decorate your party tables with tropical designed table cloths. Scatter some large seashells around your tables.

If you are partying outside, line your backyard with tiki torches or solar lights. Keep a bunch of beach balls lying around and water balloons out in buckets for when someone wants to throw them around.

Grab some cardboard boxes from any local grocery store (they are free if you ask for them!) and cut them out into surfboards! Paint your surfboards with fun designs to fit your sweet 16 beach party theme.

Hang up some large fish nets and big colorful umbrellas. And don't forget the colorful balloons, confetti and streamers.

Make sure to have a non-alcoholic drink bar available for your party guests. Fill the bar with various flavors of soda, tropical juices, and some tasty smoothies.

Get creative with your sweet 16 beach party invitations!

Message in a bottle invitations are a fun way to hint to your friends your party theme.

How to make them? It's easy! I promise.

Grab some plastic bottles from your recycling bin and wash them out. Find some pebbles and spray paint them your desired color. Sand will also do. Get some small seashells from any beach or dollar store, and fill the bottle with those as well.

Make old paper by burning a few holes through your invitation paper, or simply burning the edges of each paper. Rub a little coffee on the paper before you write on it. This adds a brown, older effect to your invitations.

Now write your invitations by hand! You could also type out your invitations on the computer and follow the paper fading process after each invitation is printed.

This is a little secret I learned from an old school assignment. It's fun to do ( and I got an A for effort! ). You can get super creative with ordinary summer objects.

Or pick up some frisbees, enough for every guest of course, and write your invitation messages on each and toss them out!

Beach ball invitations are also fun. Again write the invitation letters right on the balls!

Make sure to state a dress code, RSVP and other essential information on your party invitations.

Remember that an eye catching invitation is much more funny and excitable than a plain old phone call or a paper and pen invite.

There are tons of fun activities you can have for your sweet 16 beach party theme.

Have a wet and wild beach party!

Grab your friends and play a game of water balloon volleyball! Blow up several large water balloons and have a splashing good time ;)

Have a goofy flipper race with your friends! Buy a bunch of big yellow flippers from your local dollar store or wal mart and race you friends! Each opponent must carry a big bag of water balloons throughout the race. Throw the water balloons at your opponents to lighten the load! Winner get a cool prize.

-Subs (get a party sub from a place like Cousin's and have them deliver, you want light foods since you'll be swimming, plus subs are the kind of food people would bring for a picnic on the beach)

Do you know what hotel it is going to be at? Have you booked the room yet? Is everyone sleeping over at the hotel? Are just the girls staying?

- Pick the nicest hotel that your parents will let you
- Get a big suite
- Book 2 rooms ( 1 for girls and 1 for guys )
- Make the 2nd room a suite
- Have boys and girls sleep over
- Have the party in the room that you will be staying in with the other girls
- Decorate a little and put some snacks in the guys room
- Ask for 16 keys (1 for each of you ) (if they say no, ask for 8, so you can have 1 key per 2 people)
- MAKE you parents get a seperate room and do NOT give them a key to either of yours
- Get to the hotel early and decorate. Set up your stuff and ask the front desk about anything that you were wondering or unsure about. Ask the hotel if they will keep the pool open 1 hour longer for only you and your friends. Most hotels will allow you to. Right before you leave to pick everyone up, put out the snacks.
-Wear a cute mini dress even if it is cold. Wear your swim suit under the dress. If it is cold, wear a cute cropped sweater until you get inside.
-Get your nails and hair done.
-Have goodie bags, even though it could be kiddish. Make them NOT kiddish.
-Girls Bags:
-lip gloss
-make up
-sample size body sprays
-gift card to a cute store like AF or HCO
