Where can I find beach type centerpieces idea?

Q. Decorating for sisters reception, around 100 people, round tables...need ideas or websites with ideas and pics for ideas, thanks a bunch!

Best bet...make your own. Use the websites to get ideas, but steal the idea and make your own stuff. It'll be way cheaper, but take up a little more time.

I would be real simple about it too. For example:

Get some sand, little coctail umbrellas, miniature beach balls, doll sized sandle and sunglasses.

Drop the sand in the center of the table, randomly place the other objects to make a tiny little beach in the middle of each table.

If you really wanna be creative, get some tea light candles, place them in the sand (burried, but not covered) and light them as tiki torches. The sand wont burn, so if it gets into the candle wax it'll be fine.

You already have the concept: water/beach/pool side.

If by the pool:

I would suggest floating gardenias or other flowers in the pool
Floating ice sculptures in the pool
Petals on the fountain

If by the beach

-Adirondack chairs
-Mini Adirondack chair or life guard towers to hold the table numbers

My wedding was a beach wedding and we had shells as place holders with the name sprinted on a capiz shell. They were displayed on a wood boat with sand and mini-star fishes and an Italian mini-lace umbrella. here is the picture of it:

For my wedding cake, I wanted a "beach" feeling, but wanted to steer clear from the old and tired graham crackers "sand" and fondant shells, so we got a Belgian chocolate cigarellos cake with fresh orchids on top:

My colors were navy blue, sand beige and gold.. to keep it along with the beach concept.

Is a regular beach umbrella or table umbrella safe to use even if it is not made with SPF fabric?

I would think that having some kind of shelter from the sun at the beach would be better than no shelter at all.

Just make sure to put sun screen on. The spray type is awesome! Its not greesy or sticky!

Our neighbor has a right of way over our property to get to the lake. Is it ok for us to have a table on beach

the right of way is 20 ft. to give access to neighbor to get to lake. we have a table with umbrella on beach within the 20ft. there is still space on beach to get to water.

Is the table on the right of way of the neighbors? Its up to the neighbor who has the right of way to either accept the table being there or reject it. So it is your neighbors decision. They shouldn't be anal about it though....lol. =)

Taking children to the beach for the first time?

My husband and I are taking our 1 yr old twins to the beach next month. Any tips/advice that may make things go smoothly or suggestions on things to take with us (besides the obvious clothes, sunscreen etc.)??

If there is a lot of surf at your beach, you might show them videos of beaches first and talk happily about it, to make it less likely that they will fear the waves. At that age it might not be a concern though. I guess they are too little to really use sand shovels, but it couldn't hurt to bring them - they might enjoy picking up sand and chucking it into the water.

Number one skill I acquired from taking littlies to the beach is, fear not sand and seawater! Unclench about it getting all over everything, sand sticking in little crotches and whatnot, and don't let the urge to keep it under control it ruin your day. Just let it stick, let it get on the beach blanket, whatever. You don't end up with all that much sand in your stuff. Don't sweat about the sunscreen too much either - it washes off, sand sticks in it - but do bring a shade umbrella and be sensible. Sun hats with chin straps are good, but try them on first to see if the kids are just going to rip them off. A good thing to have if you eat at the beach is a wash bottle for hands, to get sand off, and maybe some kind of table to keep any food up off foot level. Don't forget a waterproof bag for wet clothing and towels.
