Need help with my room decor?

My wall color is a light blue, almost like a sky color.
First wall: I have a desk that has medium brown wood , and a hutch taht doesnt match, it has almost white color wood. I can't do anything about it though. My desk is covered in stuff, but tidy, my hutch too.
]Another wall: I also have a white sofa, a bunch of animal posters, a floor lamp with multiple light bulbs.
Third wall: three really short tables, about two to three feet high: i can rearrange this or sumthing, and a night stand with the bed against the wall.
fourth wall: the bed.

i feel that my room is too childish, and i need to rearange it or sumthing. I need to make it look more matched, like it has a theme, but cant get new furniture. Any advice is appreciated!!!

Answer
Center your bed with the headboard against the wall w/nightstand, beach sunset poster above the headboard.

Replace the animal posters with a cityscape behind the sofa, place the short tables side by side in front of the sofa as a coffee table, unless they are different heights,
then put one one each side of the sofa and one in front.

You could print a few close-ups of beautiful flowers and hang together in 5x7 frames
or make them into mini canvas's.

Cut cardboard 1/2 inch smaller than the flower pic.
To make the hanger, punch two holes 1/2 inch apart 1 inch from the top in the center,
thread the ends of a twisty tie (the paper covered wire used to close bread) thru the holes, turn cardboard over, make a loop and twist the ends together.
Lay cardboard on top of the back of the pic, run a bead of elmers glue around the edge of cardboard and wrap pic to the back like a present and glue down the edges, turn over and weight down till dry.

What would be good decor for a beach themed room?

cat & lamb

Anything: paint color, bed spreads, lighting, wall decoration, ect.

Answer
I think that a nice, sandy beige on the walls would be nice. Add pale blue accents with pillows and stuff. Shells and polished rocks are good decorative items(put them on picture frames maybe.) polished glass is nice mosaicced on a bedside table. White is another good color to add as a beach room in usually very light and airy feeling. I like round mirrors too, I guess they remind us of portholes in shipe. Beach towels are usually striped and could even be used as the material to make pillows. The possibilities are endless. good luck.

How to make a room look Hawaiian /beachy?

Long story short, my dad built a sandbox about 4 feet by 5 feet in our backyard, and put up walls and a room to make it like a sandbox/room (this was about 10 years ago, when my brothers were about 8 and 9). He dug out 3 feet of dirt and filled it with sand. Over the years, we've added rooms around it and now, we have a fort with 3 rooms downstairs, a "loft" with mattresses and all that, we have electricity, and one of the rooms (the kitchen) has running water. I decided to paint a few of the rooms, and I though it'd be cool to turn the sandbox into a beach room.
So far, I put 2 buckets a few feet apart, and put a board, a few cushions, and a sheet over it to make a couch, I've put to beach pictures on the wall, and put a shelf thing (with little cupboards at the top and a shelf at the bottom) on the other wall. I also put a ton of shells on top of the shelf thing. What else can I do? P.S. I'm gonna paint the walls like a Tiffany blue. Thanks in advance!

Answer
If your artistic you could paint a beach mural
collect shells and maybe make a coffee table by putting the shells on a board and putting a peice of plexi glass over with some boards or cement block stacked up to add height
you could get some palm leaves or a fake palm tree and use it for decor
Maybe if your intrested in music you could lern to play the ukelele and mount it on the wall as decor when your not playing
you could have a couple buckets with sand sitting around for decor
get one of those bamboo or tiki looking rugs and lay down
You could even make a little tiki bar

What colour curtain and sofa should i get?

hamiga

I am moving into a house that has light blue wall colour. I was wondering what colour to choose for the curtains and the sofa. Please note the living room is small and the coffee table is mahogany.

Answer
When it comes to decor, I like to take cues from nature. Light blue walls (sky/water) and a dark wood table (drift wood) would be complimented best by a beige sofa (sand) and gauzy curtains in either white or dark blue (and by gauzy I mean sheer like linen). I did something similar in my last appartment - it felt very relaxing and breezy like a day at the beach. Enjoy your new home!

Ideas for redecorating my room to an ocean theme?

I want to redecorate my room and make it an ocean theme. I already decided that I'm going to buy framed pictures of the beach, sunsets, etc. I'm going go get a new bed set that's green or blue or both. What else can I do? I have no other ideas!

Oh and also, I'm on a low budget so I can't go all out. Thanks in advance!

Answer
Oh gonna be so pretty and relaxing too! I would use a color scheme of sandy tans, soft blues and greens for the decor. Sheer white curtains long length. Think sheer flowing material like a softly blowing breeze. They are also 'cost effective' in another word cheap :o) Be certain tio keep the curtain rods etc to a minimalists concept. Hidden rod, like a slide rod. Or maybe you prefer blinds in a natural wood treatment. Second hand stores offer Small side tables. These can be repainted and can be a good display for Candles, candles and more candles artfully arranged in a clear crystal glass bowl(s) filled with either sand or sea shells or both. The bowls to can be purchased at second hand stores and yard sales. You don't have to get everything at once, gather as you go, seeing as you already have a theme in mind. Perhaps a few scatter rugs, but again go for texture and colors that compliment within the suggested range of colors. Keep to the natural elements. Search around and try to find something for one wall such as a good size piece of Driftwood. It will be lovely!

Need tips on making a kitchen look rustic and a bathroom match dolphin decor?

Kayla Harp

I am remodeling my kitchen and bathroom soon. I want a rustic-looking kitchen that still has modern conveniences. It's not a huge space and too much wood would make it look a lot smaller. Any tips on how to do that without overdoing wood?

Also, I want to match my bathroom to my dolphin decor. I want to make it look like a beach somehow (without the tacky ocean wallpaper). Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Answer
Sometimes rugged, but often cozy, rustic kitchens have a timeless and natural appearance. Wide-planked wood floors, antique brass hardware, knotty wood cabinets, and hammered copper all contribute to the earthy atmosphere of the rural lifestyle.
Rustic kitchen design can also reflect styles from other regions, including Southwestern styles, Farm and Country styles, Desert/Adobe styles, and Lodge/Mountain motifs.
To complete thje look, if you have the space, be sure to include an old rustic kitchen table and chairs for informal meals. You'll want to hang out a while in your cozy new kitchen. Instead of glossy polished countertops, try honed or flamed granite which has a natural satin appearance. Butcher block countertops look fantastic on rustic kitchen islands. If you're feeling adventurous, soapstone or honed marble are also make great rustic countertops.

As for your bathroom, you want to stay away from blue paint... too tacky. Try beach colors such as light beige, tan, or if you must mix blue and grey. Add shell lamps or light switches, big seashell soap dish, or shadow boxes with starfish, sand dollars & shells. You can add seashell or starfish shower curtain holders and even towels. Also anything nautical will blend nicely with the dolphins.
But too many dolphins can be overwhelming, so be careful.
