I am planning it for a camp where kids go who have or have had cancer and one of the nights there is a dance, and the theme is fairytale/fantasy. The dance will be outside, and the kids age range is 6-12 years old. Any ideas would be very helpful!

Thousands of tiny white (Christmas) lights everywhere. Fairies made of poster board, floating in trees spot-lighted with uplights: the bodies can be painted soft colors, the wings even lighter colors, cover them heavily with matching-color glitter. Yards and yards of netting, gauze, other very sheer fabrics hanging down, backlit with tiny lights. White, slightly-twisted crepe paper swags between buildings, trees, any tall upright item (lamp-post, basketball hoop), along any fences, and add tiny lights if possible. Use glass blocks (like those for shower windows) as table centerpieces: decorate with white Christmas balls, wired ribbons, figures, fairy wings, and insert battery-operated loops of Christmas lights inside the glass blocks. I Googled "fairy party theme" and a lot of sites came up. They're almost uniformly geared toward younger children, but this one has lots of ideas that could work with older children: http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/html/fairy.html It has ideas from moms who created fairy parties, including dragonflies, butterflies, costumes for the kids, and ideas that will appeal to boys: "Magical Forest Party" is good. "Enchanted Forest 8yr" has a wonderful idea for a story that keeps kids moving from place to place to "hear"/carry out the story, which should enchant even your 12 year olds. I didn't click on all of them, or on all of the sites (many of which are trying to sell party supplies but could still give you ideas), but there's a lot of ideas to be found. Hope everyone has a blast!

What are good pranks to pull at camp?

Luke S

ok so heres the deal...In two weeks, my school is going to a camp by some river. We stay in cabins with about 12 people in each and there are about 10 cabins for boys and 10 cabins for girls. Girls camp is about 2 miles down the river so we dont really want to go all the way over there. Heres my question, what are some good pranks we can pull to the other guys, my own group, and counselors that i wont get in trouble for.

Answer
Pin Holes in Cup
Use a tiny pin to make little pin holes in a plastic or styrofoam cup. Then offer the cup with a drink in it to your unaware victim. They will have dribbles of the liquid all over their shirt while drinking the beverage.

Clumsy Coffee Prank
Fill a coffee cup with some brown paint that looks like coffee. Tip it over onto wax paper until it dries up, then remove wax paper. You are now free to place this item anywhere. People will be fooled and think that someone tipped over a cup of coffee.

Wrapper And Cheese Sandwich
Next time you want to play a food prank on someone, make them a sandwich with cheese. But don't remove the plastic wrap from the cheese. When your victim takes a bite, they will get a plastic surprise!

Caramel Candy Onions
Make some tasty caramel candy apples for someone. But substitute the apples with onions.

Sour Times
Before going to bed at night, place a few drops of green food coloring in the milk. In the morning when your victim opens the carton to pour milk into breakfast cereal, he or she will think the milk is sour and no good.

Palms Down Beverage Trick
Impress your friend and show him how you can balance 2 cups of liquid on your hands (palms down). Then bet him that he cannot do it. When he tries to do it, offer to help him...once he gets it and balances the cups, walk out of the room and leave him to figure out how to remove cups from back of hands.

Cereal Box Switch
Remove the plastic bags from cereal boxes and switch them around. Your victim will scratch his head wondering why Cheerios came out of a box of Lucky Charms.

Yummy!
While eating at a restaurant or having dinner with friends pretend you see a fly. Take out a fly swatter and act like you are chasing it around. After awhile, take out a raisin when no one is paying attention. Then show them it quickly as if it is the fly...and eat it!

Take The Bait
Add a rubber fishing worm into your victim's meal and watch their surprise when they bite into the tasty morsel

Unable To Cut The Cake
Decorate a round car washing sponge with icing, whip cream and sprinkles so it looks like a cake. Leave it out so your victim can help himself to a slice. Then just sit back and enjoy watching him struggle while trying to cut the cake

Lottery Ticket Swap
This one takes some pre-planning. All you have to do is buy someone a lotto ticket today and tomorrow go out early and buy another ticket with the exact same numbers as the winning ticket from yesterday. When the victim of your prank isn't paying attention swap the newer ticket with the old one. When the person looks in the paper for the winning numbers, he or she won't even realize the date is wrong on the ticket and will believe it is the big winner.

Raining Confetti
Pick a rainy day and put some confetti inside your victims umbrella. When he or she goes to open it up...POOF! out comes the confetti.

Ping Pong Fallout
Put a bunch of ping pong balls or packing peanuts in an open box. Tilt it at an angle against the cupboard door (from the inside) so when the victim goes to open the cupboard the ping pong balls will all spill out.

Where did it go?
Remove the dining room table. Hide it somewhere. Then take the table cloth and whatever else was on top and put it back just the way it was, only this time its all on the floor.

Drenched With Water
This one takes a bit of practice. First, place a coin on your forhead and shake your head so the coin will fall into a funnel that is inserted in the beltline of your pants. Amaze your friends on how talented you are once you master this and when they ask to try it, quickly pour water down the funnel and into their pants.

So Heavy
Walk past a buddy with a large jug that is non transparent and act as if its filled with liquid, even though you only fill it with a couple ounces. Then ask him to carry it somewhere for you. He will be expecting a heavy load.

Blocked Sensor
Use a small piece of black tape to block the tv sensor so whoever decides to watch TV next cannot change the channel or adjust the volume.

Mail Box Prank
After the mail has already been delivered, fill the mail box with ping pong balls or packing nuts. Then ask someone else to go get the mail.

Poisonous Mushrooms
Buy some fresh mushrooms at the store. Paint them red. Then go and plant them in your friend or neighbors yard. They will think poisonous shrooms are going in their yard.

Embarasing Magazines
Send in subscriptions to embarasing magazines in the victim's name. Make sure to check "Bill Me".

Shoe Polish Phone Prank
Coat the reciever of someone's phone with shoe polish and then give them a call. Instant gratification. Make sure you match the colors of the polish and the phone. Small amounts of shaving cream work too.

Three Way Call
Utilizing threeway calling, call two people you don't know and star
