beach theme table settings image

Hi all. I'm getting married this August, and I'm trying to pull everything together. My theme is a difficult one because I have a hard time finding things for it. It's wish upon a star. I have found star bottle stoppers and I found star garland. And the colors of the wedding are red, white amd silver. We don't have a lot of money, and I see fabulous stuff online, but we just can't offord it. Now I feel like throwing the star thing out the window. Do you think a star theme is cheesy? I want it to be elegant. I can't find one guest book or ring pillow that has stars on it. Actually I found a couple but I can't offord it. I went to wal mart and bought a cheap white ring pillow & guestbook. It was the liked hearts one. That theme is ERYWHER! Anyway, I cut the hearts and white ribbon off and I used a red ribbon on it instead. Then I think I'm happy, but as soon as I search online and see nicer things I feel like it's cheesy and taky. What do you guys think I should do? Thanks a bunch!
Answer
If a star theme is what you want then go for it......it is YOUR wedding day and in the end what it means to you and your husband is all that really matters.
Some helpful hints may be found in your local dollar store believe it or not....scrapbooking supplies. Star hole punches......you can get all kinds of paper red, white and silver paper punch out stars and use them to decorate tables, your guest book.......go to the beach if you have one near by or go to a rock store where you can buy pebbles.......stencil stars on them in black with a silver outline.....you can also add words like LOVE, PEACE, HAPPINESS, FOREVER etc. you could also just spray paint the star stencil in red, white and silver on them.....they really are awsome. I still have the ones from my daughters wedding in my livingroom on display!
You can make out of card stock place settings either table numbers of guests names and use the stenciling on that too!
You are only limited by your imagination! Stop looking on line and start making what you are picturing in your mind. It is your wedding day......half the fun is in preparing for it.....oh and did I mention all of the stress! I am sure all will turn out wonderfully and you will wonder why you ever doubted yourself.
Get your wedding party together.......ok maybe just the girls for a star evening.....have them help you with these projects its a great gals night and they will feel even more apart of your special day!
Wishing you the best of luck and CONGRATS on your up coming Wedding!

Creative place setting ideas?

thinkgr
I'm having a special family dinner tomorrow evening.
The theme is tropical/rainbow, as I'll be serving taco bites (Taco Boats), shrimp (Cracatoa) and Fried Ice Cream and fruit (Tropical Gold)
Any ideas on how to decorate the table, and for unique individual place settings, using objects I can find around the house or the dollar store?.
Thanks

Here are some ideas:
-Blue or green napkins tied with dried decorative grass
-Large clear bowl or vase filled with sand or beach stones or shells as the centerpiece
-Bamboo like placemats
-placecards in the shape of a palm tree (you can easily make these with construction paper and some markers.
-wooden bowls
-brightly colored or 'painted' plates (they don't have to match)
Don't forget to ask your friends and neighbors to borrow---it's free.
